  1. I hope it keeps up...I was very happy to see Taylor laughing and Bo was so calm. They all seem really loose and confident.
  2. Without a doubt they are both growing. I will say flashes of the old Bo come out sometimes. If you have the game on dvr still....go to 2 minutes left in the 1st quarter. Bo was going off a little bit on the refs and a guy steps in between them. Anyone else notice this? Is that guy his buffer or something?
  3. Enunwa had a really nice stiff arm. I kinda laughed, because he actually threw the guy's head into ground too. I liked seeing that.
  4. First time seeing us play and our secondary looks pretty bad. I know the B1G has strict rules on physical corner play, but they need to interrupt timing on the slants or it will be there all game long. They are young though. Communication looks like it is lacking, so there isn't much help over the top from the safeties either. This is a very average defense at best...looking forward to seeing them get better throughout the year. Fonzie will help, but not like people are thinking....our offense (weird to say this) is going to carry us this year.
  5. This is all you need to know It is like looking at a train wreck...I try so hard to look away, but I just can't.
  6. I haven't seen any games yet, so I can't say anything EXCEPT...I see WR's all over the country making plays on the ball. I haven't seen that from the Huskers in a while, but maybe this year will be the year. Oh and if people are correct and Kinnie is hurt (and it is affecting his performance), then maybe he should sit. Give him time to heal up. I can't wait to see what Bell can do...I just hope it doesn't cause problems in the run game, because he is kind of small weight wise isn't he?

    QB?

Taylor is a homerun threat anytime he touches the ball...we are lucky to have him. I would be lying if I didn't say I would love to have Robert Griffin III or Denard (sp?) Robinson...they are fast and have some really good arms. But I am more then happy with what we have in Taylor. Plus isn't it nice to have a QB for more then 2 years...when is the last time that has happened?
  8. Sounds like some good things...thanks for the insight guys . I should be able to watch the Washington game, so I will finally get to see what you guys are seeing. The highlights from the Fresno State game looked really good though. They are highlights though. I saw some really good things from those highlights...I saw some good pulls from the O-line and it looks like it is just going to take more practice before they are running on all cylinders. I like how they were making checks at the line too.
  9. I actually like Washington's chances in this one. I can't say Washington will win, because my pride won't let me. But I will say...NU-35 Washington-31
  10. Wow. Your intellect is superb. That's a pretty inappropriate and juvenile comment wouldn't you say?
  11. I'd like this statement stricken from the record. Carr and his offensive line showed a lot more heart than our defensive line last night. Not going to happen...I am posting it in my sig as we speak
  12. See that is just it...it doesn't make sense to me. You have guys like Abdullah, Turner, Bell, Enunwa (sp?), and others that sound like big play guys. Running the spread would get these guys on the field at the same time, so that is why I am confused with what they are doing. I have no problem with them changing the offense, but it just seems weird with the personnel. Which makes me wonder if this is the offense we are really going to be running the whole year.
  13. Why does that second pic look like he is in court?
  14. I haven't seen or heard any games yet, so I have no idea what they really look like on defense. I personally think it is probably the youth that people are seeing from the DB's, so I am not too worried or anything. I am more worried about our LB's from what I am hearing.
  15. I don't really mind it if he is effective, but I am afraid he might get hurt. From what I am hearing from people...this team is going to go as far as Taylor can take it. It sounds a bit like Crouch, but he had a much better supporting cast.
  16. That doesn't sound good. I don't have a problem backing them off some so the young guys don't get burnt deep, but I hope we aren't doing that with an experienced guy. I guess we will see how it plays out, but I don't want to see a Cosgrove defense where our DB's play 10 yards back.
  17. The diamond formation...I am a big fan of this formation. That analysis is encouraging...sounds like they are trying to establish an identity and it is just going to take time for it to really come together. I can see why they aren't running many counters, roll-outs, boots, etc...no reason to show your hand this early in the season if those will be the staple of this offense. Are they setting plays up at all or is the playcalling sort of random? Granted if they aren't running counters and things like that then it sort of limits what plays you can setup I guess.
  18. Excellent post . I agree with the whole thing. In the end, it is a game and we should be thankful we are alive to watch such a great sport. Never Forget!
  19. I haven't been able to watch, or even listen for that matter, to a single yet this year. I have asked a few people what offense are we running and they all give me a long description that tells me nothing really. It just sounds like a jumbled mess when they explain it. I have only seen the highlights from the UTC game and I just saw a power offense...which looked very, very basic and very lacking in the "power" department. The players look much more suited to a spread offense imo. My questions are 1. What type of offense are we? Are we trying to transition from a spread to power run? 2. What happened to the hurry up...so are we a hurry up power offense? 3. How do they look on offense? (please don't use your emotions after this last game to answer this question...I want to know how they are looking scheme wise, playcalling, and execution). Just looking for insight...been depressed not being able to catch my Huskers, but it is probably good since I would probably be complaining about the team. Please don't post if your answer is we run a crap offense, we aren't good enough to run a hurry up, and they look like crap on offense...I want a little more in depth analysis then that.
  20. I don't know...to me it seems like there is something else besides depth issues. I am not blaming Cotton here either. I feel not having an offensive identity is hard on these guys. There is no consistency. Then I wonder what they are being taught scheme wise. Hardly ever do I see guys going to the next level to block downfield or pulling effectively. These are just surface observations from me.
  21. This thread is pretty good...all of you guys are really good at this . +1 all around! Edit- ran out of +1's...didn't know there was a limit lol.
  22. Probably wasting my breath here, but here we go. -I bet taylor does get hurt, but who is to say that Carnes isn't a gamer when he gets in? Besides you can say this about any teams QB and their backups. -I disagree with the O-Line. We have lots of experience...the real question is the coaching and do we have depth finally? Or can we keep guys healthy this year? -Our WR's are a question mark. I am happier without Paul though...the dude scared me everytime he had the ball in his hands. Tim Marlowe has plenty of game experience (just no catches at WR) and we have potential threats in Bell and Turner. Also don't forget about our TE's who are the best duo in the nation imo. Plenty of options in the passing game along with a new WR coach and the fans are optimistic. -Rex is good enough to be the man and given time the new guys will start to get up to speed. Austin Jones has experience as well, plus the ace-in-the-hole is Ron Brown. He knows how to coach and has proven that time and again. -DLine overrated? They are very, very good. What do you want...a Suh-like player for our entire defensive front? Never gonna happen man. But they are one of the top units in the nation and we have more depth there then we have ever had. Don't expect lots of sacks from these guys though. That is not how the unit plays...they control gaps, not rush gaps. -David is a stud, but aren't you forgetting about Compton, Fisher, Stoddard...these other three have game experience. Compton knows the defense and was the field general out there until he got hurt. -Dennard is the star of the secondary. Osborne was fantastic out there last year though at strong safety. Austin Cassidy did a very solid job out there as well. My question marks are Evans (which I thought he did pretty well in the limited time he had), who is taking over for Gomes and Haag, and how these guys are taking to the new coaching in the secondary. -I will give you the new kicker and punter...it will be hard to fill Kunalic and Henery's shoes. -Toughest schedule in B1G sure, but competition makes you better. Might hurt us a little this year, but in the long run that makes this team that much stronger. Besides everyone says the SEC has the toughest competition and teams still make it through that right? -New coaches sure. I am a little worried and then at the same time I am happy about it. More help on the OLine, a new offensive coordinator, a new WR coach, and Ron Brown at RB coach is encouraging. I am interested to see the new defensive coaches and how their units play...this is where I am worried, but at the same time Pelini has my trust in his decisions. -Nothing wrong with hype. It becomes a problem when the players take too much stock in it and believe they just need to show up to win. If they stay focused and grounded then there isn't a problem. -Teams are also unfamiliar with us...it is a two way street. -Bo Pelini built a team to stop any team in the nation on defense. Offensively is still a work in progress. -Hostile environments...I think Nebraska has seen plenty of those. Not even sure why you put that one in there. Some of your concerns are legitimate and other concerns make me question whether you even follow this team (or are a fan of this team) at all.
  23. Tenn-Chatt W...Not as big of a blowout as you would expect but still a comfortable win. Fresno St W...Comfortable win, but still a respectable performance from FS Washington W...Blowout win and redemption Wyoming W...Big win Wisconsin W...The team gets up for this one and defensively they won't be able to stop us (I can't believe I have that much faith in the offense, but I feel they will try to prove something in our first con game). Ohio St L...This team will be our achilles heel for a long time. JMO. Minnesota W...Decent showing from Minnesota, but we will just pound them into submission. Michigan St W...Very good, close game. Could go either way, but I still think we can beat them. NW W...Add Persa to Pelini's QB graveyard. Penn State L...We overlook a team every year and I think this one is it. Michigan W...Awful defense from Michigan which is why we win this one, but a running QB is bad for us if Pelini doesn't gameplan for it. I think he does and we hold Robinson. Iowa W...I see this one going like our Colorado games. Lots of similar aspects there and we win this round. CCG Wisconsin L...I don't see us beating them twice.
