  1. <<<<doing my best Jim Mora impression: "Next season? Whatya talkin' about? Next season? You wanna talk about next season? Having said that, I see four losses on the schedule: tOSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Penn State. We'll finish either 7-5 or 8-4. I won't be over-optimisitic like I have been in recent years. Going for realistic this time.
  2. ...does it bring his decision-making into question? Will he be considered too loyal to his assistants?
  3. Regretfully, I voted for status quo, but I too hope I am wrong.
  4. I believe that unless Martinez returns to the form we saw in the first 5 or 6 games, the quarterback position will be a problem next year due to lack of experience or depth.
  5. It has probably been overstated but here goes...we lost to Texas, Texas AM, and OU showing we we're not ready to compete with the South. The team goal of winning the conference was not met and I think that is where the disappointment lies. The team was close but in the end couldn't "close the sale." In two of the three games we lost, they were by 3 points. In total, the team was two TDs away from being undefeated.
  6. The Insight Bowl? Really? Might as well be the Independence Bowl...Sorry, just not excited about this game after not winning the conference championship. My expectations were higher and the team fell short.
  7. I woke up this morning wondering if this is as good as it will ever be with this coaching staff? Will the team have a good season only to never realize their goal of winning a conference championship? It doesn't get any easier going into the Big 10. I'm not here to point the finger or blame them, but merely ask that question. It's frustrating to watch them two years on a row come up short.
  8. This is easy.... 1. Johnny Rodgers punt return in '71 (the game that made me a fan at 8 yrs old) 2. Jim Pillen's recovery of Billy Sims fumble in '78 3. Stuntz to Crouch '01
  9. I couldn't agree more...The planets lined up right and things are as they should be. Go Big Red!
  10. I saw a look in Cody Green's face I had never seen before...The look of confidence. He just looked more sure of himself, poised, and ready to play. The kid grew up by leaps and bounds this week. Like most of us, I was rooting for him to be successful in this program and yesterday he showed that he can be.
  11. Call me a bad fan, but I can't help it. I think the season ended prematurely for me. I understand we will probably beat Colorado, but after what what I saw offensively from this team, I have some serious doubts about beating Oklahoma or Oklahoma State in the Big XII championship. We crashed in the polls and my high expectations of this team fell miserably short. And finally, losing to yet another team from the state of Texas is more than I can stand. I wanted to puke blood after that game. My enthusiasm for the remainder of the season simply died. For whatever reason, I just don't care about the remainder of 2010. I expected better. Anyone else?
  12. Losing this game was a tough pill to swallow and a good win for A&M. Now go take Texas to the woodshed!
  13. I'll miss playing OU...Just too many great memories. I won't miss the monopoly and stronghold Texas has on the conference. It seems they and to some degree OU get the lion's share of the money while the rest of the conference gets whatever crumbs are left over. The rest of the Big XII conference will grown tired of it too and the Big XII will crumble at the hands of Dan Beebe. I'm very excited to see Nebraska become part of a great football conference both athletically and academically.
  14. I was concerned about this game preseason and in two games (Missouri & OSU) I was real neg and the team proved me very wrong. I'm still concerned but will try to be optimisitic about the outcome.
  15. Is Dan Beebe paying the coaches to keep us down in the polls?
  16. I think some emotion from a coach is the sign of a good leader. Look, players hear from a coach when he screws up. He also should hear from the coach when he does something right. Just my opinion.
  17. So much potential...so many mistakes
  18. I've been telling people at work all week that "something's going on in Ames." Paul Rhodes is turning that team around.
  19. Whatya think? I'm feeling like it's just gonna ever click for Cody Green. The drive at around the 9 min mark in the 3rd quarter where the team settled for a FG speaks volumes. I wish the kid well and hope it comes together for him but I'm having my doubts.
  20. Nebraska is proving their move to the Big 10 has not hurt their recruiting efforts in the Lone Star state. Very encouraging!
  21. After starting a thread to countdown to the Texas game from 257 days I took the loss really hard. So much in fact, my confidence in the team was severely tarnished...I wasn't sure they would win against OSU and was almost certain they would lose against Mizzou. I predicted a 34-24 loss. So the time has come to fess up and eat my full serving of crow. The team looks strong and I think they will finish strong.
  22. Hey, the kid is a freshman! I think he played solid. Another year or two of coaching this kid is going to play lights out defense.
  23. Keep in mind folks...Oregon still has to play Arizona and Oregon state. And I don't know if Alabama beating Auburn will help but possibly worth considering. Meanwhile TCU and Boise State continue to wallow at #3 and #4 and the pollsters seem content to leave them there due to weak schedules. It's gonna be interesting to see how it all plays out...
