  1. This argument can made for at least 70 other teams
  2. well if other teams had not played minnesota or other cupcake teams this year I would understand your point but since they have I think it is relative. .

  4. If you seriously consider statistics to tell the whole story then you have problems. If you think that Martinez is as good a runner as Crouch and has the same combination of elusiveness, vision and speed you are sadly mistaken. Frazier's rushing stats weren't great either. Oh BTW your point about Fraziers rushing stats not being that good either, well they are pretty dang good and here are his sophomore stats below to show otherwise. Rushing 5.6 ypc 126 attempts 9TD's
  5. If you seriously consider statistics to tell the whole story then you have problems. If you think that Martinez is as good a runner as Crouch and has the same combination of elusiveness, vision and speed you are sadly mistaken. Frazier's rushing stats weren't great either. First of all this is comparing his sophomore year not senior year, secondly you can say all you want about juke moves and vision and what ever but at the end of the day its about ypc. I am not taking anything away from Crouch I am showing those who like to dog on Taylor and those who compare him to Crouch are a little off the rocker. If you read what I said above I hope Taylor can progress like Eric Crouch because he is on pace atm not that he will or it is certain just that he is on track. I will take a back who gets 6 ypc period even if he can't go side to side just north and south. Do you know why because 6 + 6 = 12 and you only need 10 for a first down. But hey why don't you try and dog Taylor because I am sure you are one of them. Again juke moves are only good if it adds to your YPC sooooooo......
  6. I didn't read this whole thread but was frustrated after reading the first 10 or so posts stating how great eric crouch is and how much better of a runner he is than Martinez. Eric Crouch was great but lets compare both of their sophomore years to see who is the better runner and passer. Eric Crouch Full season Passing completion % 51.9, 83 out of 160, 7TD's, 4 INT's Rushing 4.9 ypc 180 attempts 16TD's Martinez current year only 7 games played Passing completion % 54.97 83 out of 151, 7TD's, 6 INT's Rushing 5.78 ypc, 110 attempts 9TD's Taylor's numbers are right on par if not better in all area's except for 2 INT's with 9 fewer passes. Those who say right now that Eric was a better runner might want to look at the ypc versus how pretty a run is before saying that Eric was the better runner as a sophomore. Looking at these stats makes me excited to see if Taylor can grow like Crouch and be our next potential Heisman winner at this point you can say he is on par. Lets give this kid some credit. New offense, New Coach, New Conference and yet he is still on par. Thanks for letting me ramble GBR!!!
  7. OVER- we double that number O/U NU total offense 500 yards
  8. Well look at it this way, maybe now the opposing team will wish that they had double teamed Crick's replacement
  9. This is where I disagree with you. I don't think Bo's head coaching has been fine the previous seasons. Bo concentrated on the defense while our offense was about as bad as Ive ever seen it at Nebraska. Bo was brought in to fix the defense, yes, but Im pretty sure he also knows that he is in charge of the entire team. This means he better be able to coach EVERYTHING. There is a reason we have offensive and defensive coordinators. And nobody ever said that you would just let your defensive or offensive coordinators make the decisions for you. Bo should be making ALL the decisions. The other coaches are there to coach fundamentals, bounce ideas off, and call the plays (which Bo should have ultimate rule over). Look at it this way....If Bo is the head coach and he spends 90% of his time with the defense along with our defensive coordinator. Then you have Tim Beck, the offensive coordinator, concentrating on the offense by himself. He is basically in control of the same percentage of the team as Bo, 50%. Why shouldn't we just make Bo Pelini and Tim Beck Co-Head Coaches? They would both be doing the same amount for the team. This also make Carl Pelini's role diminish considering he probably just does what Bo tells him to. Let me think, why don't schools who need a offense coordinator hire a defense coordinator as the offense coordinator? Serioulsy you think Bo should be spending his time running the offense? Sorry Bo got this job because of his ability to coach a defense. Thus you hire someone to run the offense and over see it and focus more time on defense than on offense since that is where your time is best used.
  10. So you think Bo should spend most of his time with the defense and neglect the rest of the team? I don't really understand this line of thinking. Bo Pelini is the HEAD COACH. His job is to oversee the whole team. There is a reason we have a defensive coordinator named Carl Pelini on the coaching staff. He is the one who is supposed to spend the most time with the defense. If Bo is supposed to spend the majority of his time with the defense then we might as well hire a different head coach and make Bo the defensive coordinator. IMO, Bo still spends too much time with the defense. I can't tell you how many times I watch games and see Bo near the benches talking with the defense (with his headset off). He is not paying attention to the game or what our offense is doing and probably doesn't even know the plays that are being called during these stretches. Disagree with ya, there are many head coaches that spent a lot their time on one side of the ball (offense/defense) and the reason many of them were hired. Bo's head coaching was fine the previous seasons and he focused on the defense right? Doesn't mean he can't be a head coach. But you stick with what your are good at. To think Bo was brought here to only be a head coach and let the defensive coaches make the decision's is a little naive imo.
  11. In summer when I heard Bo had transitioned to more of a 50/50 split with offense and defense I had this bad feeling in my stomach about it but the reports out of camp were how great the defense was so I just shrugged it off. Well now we see what happens when you have a new coach in the secondary and Bo putting in less time at defense. It is not pretty. You can say its other things but Bo recruited most of these guys and we have 3 NFL guys in the defense as of today but stafford maybe others will also. No reason for the defense to look this bad. Don't know if the ship can be righted this year but I sure hope going forward Bo puts the same time in the defense as in prior years. This is not a knock on Bo, just a lesson learned from a fairly new head coach about the do and don'ts and one is his bread and butter which is defense. JMHO.
  12. READ ALL ABOUT IT :Wisconsin lady badgers huskers and gets beat.
  13. 5 keys to victory 1. NU must contain Wilson (keep him in the pocket) 2. NU must keep Wisconsin's rushing attack to under 5.0 ypc. 3. NU needs to win the turnover battle or stay even. 4. NU secondary needs to limit big plays and busted coverages. 5. Finally, Martinez needs to complete 60% of his passes. Out of all of these I think the toughest is #1. But with that said I think its doable. We just need to play assignment football and all of these should come to fruition. BTW I am just a fan and this imho
  14. I'm going to take the over on that. I think Taylor is going to have his way with the zone read and he'll break a few big ones. O/U: 2 Wisconsin turnovers I will take the under on the whisky turnovers I am going with the NU secondary holding Wilson to 150 yards passing o/u
