  1. When you beat a conference opponent 44-7, that is domination (IMO). Regardless of statistics (& those are pretty bad), he led the team to a 5 touchdown victory. I will admit I did not see the Purdue game unfortunately due to the fact I was working... EDIT -------------------------------------------- I feel True2tRA is pretty spot on here...
  2. This I don't feel is a concern at all. Tommy has proven to be a quality QB, and we only have one loss under him. Freshman growing pains, with an offense that wasn't built around him, it was built around Taylor and his fundamentals. I expect to see a different style offense and a much more sound Armstrong under center as well. With a (supposedly) better line, it should benefit him as well, especially if we aren't relying on 3rd string OL to start. I think Armstrong proved last year to be a reliable QB. I see this as a question mark because it will be his first full season as 'the man'. Will he clean up some of those freshmen mistakes we saw last year? If Tommy gets injured, will Stanton or Fyfe be ready to lead the team to victory? ....how? Uh...well lets see...was 7-1 as a starter (6-1 really, Northwestern goes to Ron Kellogg)...dominated Illinois & Purdue...led a game winning drive against Michigan in their own stadium...hit Quincy for a 99 yard TD against Georgia & won that game. Bottom line is he won games. I still see our QB position as an unknown...but the dude was 6-1 as a freshmen thrown in unexpectedly...so I'd say he was reliable last season given the circumstances...if you disagree, whatever I don't care
  3. I agree with this...Nebraska botched too many punts last season & that's unacceptable. Things like that can cost us games against tough conference opponents (Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State). That needs to be cleaned up big time. EDIT - True2tRA brought up a very important concern that didn't cross my mind...the kicker. The field goal kicker is very important & Pat Smith won/helped us win a few games last year. He was very dependable. Its very important that Nebraska finds a reliable field goal kicker...

  5. On Offense... WR (Z) spot...Quincy was a potent red zone threat. Although the dropsies were frustrating, he was definitely an important asset to last years offense. The Huskers need someone to be that reliable pass catching red zone threat that Quincy was last year. A lot of good things have been said about Taariq Allen this offseason. OL - Should be as good or better than last year...but can they stay healthy all season? The #1 question mark (IMO) would be QB. Some great things have been said about Tommy Armstrong's leadership...we'll just have to wait & see on this one The other #1 question mark is the fumbles...of course I don't expect the team to go the entire season without any fumbles but it would be nice if we could at least cut the turnovers in half... On Defense... Depth at DE Secondary - Will someone step up at SJB's position & be the shutdown corner that the defense needs? That would be huge... If the DL lives up to the hype, that will make things easier on the secondary. I am pumped about Charles Jackson... EDIT - For offense, another question mark is will anyone step up & be a reliable #2 behind Abdullah? It would be tremendous for the team to have that reliable 1-2 punch at RB. Cross definitely helped the team last year (probably lose the Wyoming game if it wasn't for him & had a big TD run against Michigan State) but IMO he hasn't really proved that he can bring it game after game after game like Abdullah did last year. I am really excited to see Adam Taylor pound the rock
  6. Considering it took us until the final 2 minutes to beat a Michigan team that had the atrocious Devin Gardner at QB I don't think it's laughable at all. Since Devin Gardner is still their starting QB, your argument against my statement contradicts itself...
  7. Michigan being rated ahead of Nebraska at all (at this point) is laughable. Nice game against the Wildcats....
  8. Suh was just a straight up beast his senior year...he had good coaching but IMO the reason was just because he's a freak monster athlete
  9. Nebraska hasn't had any luck with New Jersey recruits these last few years...it would be nice to get a pipeline going to that state...there always seems to be at least 2-3 players from New Jersey offer every cycle...
  10. Nebraska should beat Creighton next year. Creighton loses 4 starters, 1 of them being the Player of the Year...Nebraska returns everyone except Ray Gallegos. Nebraska will have a significant edge in experience & the game will be at Pinnacle Bank Arena. I suppose nothing is guaranteed in college basketball...I fully expected Creighton to beat Baylor & thought it might be a straight up **$ kicking.
  11. I disagree that Nebraska was very deep in the secondary in 2009...we weren't deep at all. Conference play & beyond we primarily had 6 DBs on the field (Prince Amukamara, Alfonzo Dennard, Matt O'Hanlon, Larry Asante, Dejon Gomes, Eric Hagg). When Dennard went down against KState, we had to use Anthony West (who had a tendency to get burned). If O'Hanlon, Asante, Gomes, or Hagg would've went down (I remember all of them staying healthy all year), I don't think we had anyone who could've stepped in & performed at the same or similar level. The 2009 Blackshirts weren't deep at all...at any position...but they didn't need to be.
  12. Well its nice the LJS finally has a free article about Husker football!
  13. BLEED4BLACKSHIRTS...I have to ask...did you watch the entire game?
  14. I also found this very frustrating. Based on the 3 games I watched this year (Wisconsin, Ohio State B1G Tourney game, & Baylor) our teams strong point is getting the ball near the basket & attacking from there. Playing tough on defense is our other strong point. We are not a 3 point shooting team. Attempting all those 3s in the 1st half was a bad game plan (considering they just weren't going in). Tim Miles should've called timeout at some point in the 1st half & corrected this.
  15. Nebraska did not play well...I feel we played hard for the most part (gave up a few points that were just pathetic)...but overall I think the team played hard. Sloppy & undisciplined come to mind...the players had never played in a NCAA tournament game before so probably got too psyched out & that may have contributed to playing bad in the first half. If Nebraska plays like they did against Wisconsin, we should win anyway...no arguments there. We brought our C- or our D game...I watched us beat Wisconsin, I know the team is capable of playing better than that. Baylor also didn't play great but still won. However, it doesn't change the fact that officiating egregiously altered the outcome of the game. For crying out loud, our head coach got EJECTED for pointing out the officials failed to start the shot clock. Argue that he shouldn't have left the coaches box all you want...it doesn't change the fact that (per the rules) the ball should not even be in play if the shot clock has not started...so given the ball is not legally in play Tim Miles has every right to do what is necessary to correct this error. You cannot argue this unless you want to argue that Baylor should have all day to shoot while Nebraska has to abide by the :35 shot clock rule. And to top this off, Baylor was awarded 3 free throws for this. What should have happened is it should have been corrected & the missed time should have been put back on the game clock & Baylor should have had to re-inbound the ball. Here are the official foul stats. These are accurate - I went to espn.com, clicked the play-by-play on the Nebraska game & counted the fouls committed by each team. In the first half, Nebraska was called for 13 fouls, Baylor 10. In the second half, Nebraska was called for 18 fouls & Baylor was called for 6. If you count Tim Miles 2 technical fouls, that 2nd half stat becomes 20-6. Baylor won 74-60. Baylor was awarded 48 free throws throughout the course of the game, while Nebraska was awarded 16. Yes, Nebraska lost. I am not a person who likes blaming a loss on officiating. I also understand there is no such thing as a perfectly officiated basketball game. Mistakes will be made. Having watched the entirely of the game (all 40 minutes) & having just looked up the official stats on the fouls (per the espn website)...It is my opinion that the officiating altered the outcome of this game in an egregious manner. EDIT - My solution to this (which will never happen). Fire the head official, make it so he will never be allowed to officiate a basketball game for the remainder of his life. And make it clear to all other NCAA officials that the same will happen to you (the head official presiding over any NCAA game), if it is determined by a committee (in charge of such) that the same has occurred in any future game.
  16. I am very excited to see what Tim Miles can do with this team next season...the team has a taste of the big time & everyone should be hungry, knowing what we can do when we play at our best & given how the season just ended. Miles still has a lot that needs to get fixed...we're a lazy rebound team & way too undisciplined...but what an amazing feat to take an irrelevant team, get the fan base behind them & take them to the NCAA tournament in his second year...Tim Miles has my full confidence & I will watch every game that I am able too. I did not really follow the team this season but wanted to watch the Wisconsin game...found myself pulling for our basketball team the same way I do for the football team & we ended up winning....I am now a fan...I watched the Ohio State & Baylor games & I will continue to pull for our basketball team & watch the games whenever I can
  17. I agree with you fully that the team played bad...we brought our D game IMO...we play like we did against Wisconsin & IMO we probably win anyways. My issue is that (IMO...based on what I saw...I watched the entire game) the referees let Baylor get away with stuff that they called on us (& more than just once or twice...enough times that I believe the officiating was egregious & that the head official should not be allowed to referee another basketball game)
  18. There is a difference between unfair & lousy. Lousy is when bad calls go both ways. Unfair is when one team gets awarded 48 free throws, and the other team 16. It seemed to me, Nebraska got called for stuff the referees would not call on Baylor.
  19. Yes, I did unintentionally put words in your mouth. However, in an earlier post in this thread you wrote "Maybe slightly worse on our end" in regards to the officiating. So by that quote, I inferred that, for the most part, you felt the game was fairly officiated. It was not my intention to put words in your mouth. EDIT - So I will rephrase my final question...would you say that in the 2010 Nebraska - Texas A&M football game...was the officiating "maybe slightly worse on our end"? Because IMO...when the game is tied 6-6 & one team kicks a game winning field goal because of a late hit that clearly is not a late hit...I define that as 'egregious' & I will apply the same definition to tonights basketball game
  20. Well then...you have your opinion & I have mine. I don't know how someone could watch that entire game & come to the conclusion that the officiating was fair...but very well. Actually, I do have 1 more question for you...do you feel that the officiating in the 2010 Nebraska - Texas A&M football game was fair as well?
  21. Well Tim Miles turned me into a Nebraska basketball fan...which is something I thought was impossible...
  22. HuskerNationNick, I have a question...did you watch the entirety of the game? To be clear, by "entirety of the game"...I mean all 40 minutes of it
  23. Lets see...Baylor shot 48 free throws to Nebraska's 16. That's 3x as many. Also, Nebraska's head coach got ejected & Baylor awarded free throws because he tried to correct the shot clock not getting started. Whether you feel officiating was biased or not...to say it may have been 'slightly worse on our end' is a joke I am not saying we played well but officiating was egregiously terrible on our side. Baylor hardly got called for anything, & Nebraska got called for practically everything, it seemed (in the 2nd half)
