  1. You can't go wrong with the engraved drinkware. I got mine glass German beer boots with the "In the Deed the Glory" quote engraved on the side, along with everyone's nickname. A little pricey though.
  2. The kid was being a jackass and got exactly what he deserved. And hopefully a turf burn to the face.
  3. With all the talk of conference re-alignment, I started thinking about new rivals and specifically their fan bases. We have all heard stories of the good, bad, and ugly fan bases in the big 12. But what about the Big 10? As far as fan bases go, do any of their fans have a reputation that precedes them for things like hospitality, tailgating, rudeness, class, etc? Also, does anyone have any opinions or personal experience with fan bases in the Big 10?
  4. At one point they did. The campus book store had them around 2001 or so. Not sure if they still have them. The one I bought was quality and designed for play. Had long sleeves, red and white horizontal stripes, and a husker logo on the left breast. Works great for going to games in the fall. You could try giving them a call. (402) 472-7300
  5. Heckuva shooter. Whenever I hear about snipers, I think of this thing. Talk about scary as hell and awesome. Good thing its controlled by a person. I remember seeing a special about these around the same time as the Somali pirate incident. Crazy what our military can do. And this technology is several years old now.
  6. This. And if anyone can bear to watch it youtube has the fiasco with music straight out of Chevy Chase's Funny Farm movie. Edit: The last few weren't all our offense's fault
  7. Seconded on Dobson kudos. The question I've always had was this: If Dobson studied under the Iowa S&C coach, does that mean that the coach there (name escapes me) > Dobson, which would mean Iowa S&C>NU S&C? Or was Dobson the type of protege' that surpassed his teacher? I've always read that Dobson is a strict believer in reading, learning, and continuous improvement. But a significant portion of his experience must have come in some shape or form from his mentoring. Maybe he is just one of those guys who who picks up a little here and there, has a natural affinity for it, and makes it his own (like Pelini has done through the years). Here's hopin Dobson has a long and prosperous career here
  8. It makes me laugh a little bit on the inside, knowing that this game to some ISU fans, is what the Arizona game was to NU last year. We rewatch the Arizona game because of excellent defense, a pretty darn good offensive performance, and a thoroughly good coaching effort. The ISU fans that rewatch this game cannot be overly confident in anything other than tenaciousness and heart. Both of which were in abundance, along with one of the worst cases of butter fingers I have ever seen. For a fan to be proud, let alone encouraged/have optimism by the NU/ISU game (a fan of either side) is both delusional and silly.
  9. Not to mention what the extra 15 million would do to this ranking. I don't remember the numbers, but I could have sworn Penn St was only 5-10 million ahead of us. With the added revenue, we might be in the top two.
  10. I'd want a talent for predicting what stocks are about to increase exponentially in value.
  11. And every once in a while you see one completely separated from any booze bottle/reference (like under the fridge when you're cleaning) and you say "What the hell is this thing!?! What were people doing in my kitchen?!" Then you remember - My Guinness! What a strange little contraption.
  12. Touche good sir. I acquiesce the zombie win to you, but post win to myself. (And dollar bill zombie = extra win points)
  13. Maybe this is a little off topic, but what are the reasons as to why the Big 10 wants Missouri? I'm assuming that a capture of the Kansas City/St Louis market is very desirable, and a driving force, but is it assumed that the team has lasting staying power? I also read something about academic classifications and Missouri was a member. And geographically, the natural expansion seems to be slightly east or west, which does include Missouri. I don't pretend to be that close to the program, but as an outsider, it seems like the program got off the floormat in the last 5-10 years. Even then, their record can't be much over .500 or .600 in that time. Certainly 07 and 08 were good years, but has the team proven that they can compete consistently? They appear to be putting together some good recruiting classes, and I'm sure their fan base is galvanized, but what happens to those fans when the team has 2 or 3 losing seasons? Are the most fans on the bandwagon right now, or has there always been a good base group? Not only that, but is there an interest within Big 10 country to even watch tiger football? My opinion would be that Missouri does not seem to be a proven commodity, and as such seems to be a somewhat risky addition to the big 10 (although much more desirable that an Iowa St, K St, Kansas, etc.)
  14. http://www.2leep.com/ I cannot fully describe what this site is, other than saying that it is any and all of those <funny/interesting/vulgar/scientific/wierd> picture compilation email forwards contained in one site. Main page is sfw. Some picture collections might not be. They update ALOT. Pretty much whenever I am bored I go check this site out. *Warning - While this site has never given me any problems, digging "too deep" can get you to sites that will get you malware warnings. Ie: If you click on links of links of links, you might be entering an unsafe area - and should probably turn around. (kinda like porn sites and Moria...)
  15. Never knew what the deal was with the plastic ball in a guinness can. Thought I'd share http://coedmagazine.com/2008/12/11/the-plastic-ball-in-guinness-cans-explained/
  16. Well, maybe not, but this picture was worth posting in my opinion... Link
  17. Well this might be too obvious, but how about "huskerboard" or "huskerboarder?"
  18. Seeing Suh go top three tonight has only gotta help push this along...
  19. So in the past, the Spring game tickets would get us (for free) into some of the other venues, such as baseball or softball. Anyone know of anything like that this year?
  20. A little off topic, but... If you are going to be working with larger/multiple open files, then definitely go with a Mac Pro if you have the cash. I have a book, imac, and a pro, and they absolutely go in that order for processing speed. I guess this is pretty obvious at the price difference, but I can't even express how satisfying it is to have multiple large files open on the pro, and have absolutely no lag whatsoever. The same files that would absolutely bog down my book and even the imac to an annoying amount (when you're used the unreal speed on the pro). When I have several files open in photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver, and bridge, between multiple screens, the thing kicks butt. So worth it.
  21. I still think that a logo with corn cob with the leaves folded to make it look like a hand making the "flipping off" gesture would be funny, as long as it was subtle. And on another note, who heard the new coach on the radio last night? He announced that ticket prices would be around $20 each. This seems a little steep to me. Not to mention the $6 parking, $6 beers, $5 hot dogs, and everything else they love to nickel and dime down there by the Qwest. Also said that players in this league stand to make a salary greater than practice squad members in the NFL. Not sure how much that is, but it sounds like a lot. The coach wouldn't give an exact number, but they will need some serious butts-in-the-seats to cover even average salaries for the roster. Especially with the season being so short. And apparently they think they will bring in 20,000 people into these games. Whoever though this was economically viable gets a Oh, and their first game - on the same day as the Washington away game  (they better have the Husker game on the jumbo-tron...)
