  1. NOTHING. Fans are fans. Nebraska fans might think they are better and might buy into the media hype that we are so great and can do no wrong. When it comes down to it we aren't any different than anybody else. We have been let down for too long and we are tired of losing the kind of games we lost on Saturday and it's showing. Nebraska fans = Humans = Human Nature= Often not nice The only true degree of separation between Nebraska fans and other college football fans are. We generally don't assault opposing fans. We aren't AS verbally abusive and visitors aren't afraid to come here. We have sold out memorial stadium 301 times showing immaculate loyalty. Some of us golf clap opponents win or lose at the end of home games. AMEN AND AMEN!
  2. I agree whole-heartedly with the article and Pelini needs to get his stuff together. I understand that emotions are part of the game and it is very frustrating when a gameplan doesn't get executed and you are humiliated at home, but the media are just doing their job and the coach needs to be civil. I completely agree with the statement about how he was ripping the refs in the game. It does absolutely no good for a coach to scream at a referee for countless minutes after a call. The ref already made the call and it won't be reversed. The head coach needs to make his argument and then walk away. By persisting, all it does is give the media something to exploit and turns up the risk of the head coach getting an unsportsmanlike penalty. I love Bo as our coach but there are quite a few things (Blackshirts, offense and sideline/media demeanor) that he is doing right now that I don't agree with. I hope he can get it together and understand that as the HC, a Tom Osborne like approach is better in this day and age than a Bob Devaney type approach.
  3. that 1st one was a major fluke play. but that kind of stuff happens. ask the bengals, cowboys; just to think of 2 quick. the 2nd one was brutal. and not a 7 point swing, at least 10, possibly 14. the ball was on the 16 yard line. the 3rd is being over emphasized. it was an extremely ill-advised throw by green. the ball was tipped and would of been more of a fluke play than techs on the 1st drive. The 3rd would have been a MAJOR fluke play, but none the less was right in the receivers hands and should have been caught!!! It would have been 6 points and I hate to say this, but the TT receivers mostly likely would have caught the ball. I GUARANTEE YOU THE TECH RECEIVERS WOULD HAVE CAUGHT THAT BALL.
  4. I noticed that as well. I've been going to games for 5 years now and that was by far the quietest tunnel walk I have ever heard. The crowd was barely even cheering. It is a really weird feel in Lincoln these days. I don't understand how the crowd can't even get pumped for a game at home with their favorite team (the skers) against a good opponent. Just strange. Baffling.
  5. My thoughts exactly. IMO that 3rd and 25 set the tone for the whole game. Not so much that they converted, but how they converted. We went from a should have been interception to a should have been pass break-up to a diving completion and a 1st down. Right after that happened I said to myself that it's going to be one of those games. I said the EXACT same thing. I knew it was a bad omen for the rest of the game and we were shafted before it even really started.... whaddya know? it happened.
  6. Haven't been to a game since 2002 but the fans have always been like this through the 80's and 90's. Used to be you just ignored the people who whined about not seeing because they were sitting. Never heard of a usher threatening to throw someone out for it. Always found most Husker fans at the game were followers and needed someone to start the yelling and cheering to get them into the game. I second that. I've been going to games for the past 5 years, and it seems like this year it is following this trend even more. On most defensive plays, I will start yelling as the opposing team gets into the huddle. I usually stand there, screaming by myself, feeling like a moron for a good 10-15 seconds before ANYONE around me joins in. It really irritates me to the point where lately I've simply been yelling (not at anyone specifically) "why aren't you helping our team?!" So irritating.
  7. 7 on 7 summer ball? Oh great, yippee. Can anyone guess who has an inferiority complex?... Psst... It's 'HuskerBCS'.. Get out of here with those ridiculously negative comments. You're obviously going to lose respect on a message board if you come on posting about how bad the HC is, when he's the only reason we are turning things around. So, are you a bandwagon fan? Jumped on in the 90's? or do you just have so little faith that one loss is enough to completely crush your hope and have you calling for a new HC already...
  8. YES, I was thinking the same thing. Absolutely no sense of urgency, the play clock was below 10 on almost every play towards the end I was SCREAMING that from the student section the entire time they were on the field. Like.... Okay, I understand that you want to control the ball, but you're losing BADLY!.... with hardly any time left. Try and get to the line fast and not make f'ing seventeen checks EVERY PLAY! It kind of makes me wonder how many times Watson calls a run play that can be checked into a pass and Lee just makes the WRONG read and checks into a pass that fails miserably. He's a horrible qb, but watson isn't proving to be a very good OC either.
  9. Did you just say bring back Frank Solich? I think you did! I would like to play devil's advocate here and say TTech going up 14 MADE us predictable. But we don't have a quarterback that can bring us out of that hole. Or an O-Line that can get us out of that hole. Is that Watson's fault? A little bit maybe. Helu needs more touches. It's hard to get him touches with him being injury prone and no depth at the position. What lost the game, in my mind? We bought into the hype. Thank all of you who hyped this damn game, who hyped (even though it's deserved) Suh. This team isn't mature enough to handle pressure. They crap themselves. Thank you fans. Thank you for this loss. Good post. Fans can act however the f#*k they want, it SHOULD NOT affect the players. If it does, that just points out ANOTHER flaw with the team, lack of discipline. If a team that hasn't proven ANYTHING thinks that they are national title contenders because a bunch of ignorant fans think so, then we are in a hell of a lot more trouble than i imagined. Get out of here with that kind of ridiculous sh#t. If you think this loss was the fans fault for giving in to hype because we had no idea that our offense would be so freaking inept week in and week out, you are HIGH AS sh#t.
  10. EXACTLY! Holy sh#t people, you freak out like the crowd was booing the team. It was so obvious being at the game, the crowd was booing the referees as they walked off the field. The booing didn't even start until tech was completely off the field and almost the entire husker team was off the field. I love how people lose their minds at the first sign that the Huskers might be getting booed. Come on guys, you know that wasn't the case. Now.... as for Zac Lee at the end of the game??? Those boo-birds were definitely directed at him.
  11. It's so depressing watching out offense get the ball down to a point where we have 1st and goal at the 3 yard line and the offense walks out of the huddle and lines up in the shotgun. It's like... okay, we're not Missouri, we are Nebraska. Remember how the hell we got to be so successful. Do our linemen just not know how to push people around? You're a big f'ing 300 pound man, you should have an ability to impose your will on someone enough to gain NINE FEET!!! Watson needs to get out of this mindset that we can run a ridiculous spread with our talent. WE DON'T HAVE THE SPEED at the skill positions to run a spread sideline-to-sideline type running game. SMASH UP THE MIDDLE. I love how EVERY SINGLE TIME we run up the middle... out of the ace formation (not the shotgun), we gain at least 4-5 yards. Out of the shotgun.... 1-3 yards. SWEEEEEET. Awesome playcalling Wats... by the way, Zac Lee sucks.... something fierce.
  12. HOW THE f#*k DO YOU CALL A PENALTY AND THEN...... TAKE IT BACK?!?!?!!?! I have never seen that in my entire life until today. Every game I have watched before that, once the HEAD REF announces the penalty it is set in stone. This is the second week in a row we have had f'ing retards parading around as zebras. Remember last week...? When the ref asked Bo what he wanted.... then was like, "Kidding... the penalties on you!... GOTCHYA!" WHAT A f'ing JOKE!
  13. As many times as we ask for volume increase in Memorial Stadium, we'll still have the majority of people that just stand/sit there and watch. It really irritates me. If every person would all make noise, whether it is yelling, clapping or even just jingling keys or some sh#t, it would increase the volume dramatically. Problem is, people don't think that atmosphere actually affects the game, or they don't put two and two together...
  14. Thanks a lot! That's an awesome picture!
  15. They're certainly to blame for some of this, but not all. The fans feel ownership of the traditions of this team like no other team in college football. If there were no media covering this team, none at all, still the fans would be asking where the Blackshirts are. Very True. Good point.
  16. I don't know. Like I said, I could name several years in the 80s where our current D is playing better than those old Blackshirts. I get the "evolving" argument here. I just don't agree with it. It's becoming some bizarre sideshow distraction. Bo is doing a lot of things right. In my very humble opinion, this isn't one of them. I definitely get where you're coming from. The defense is playing electrifying on their side of the ball. I just feel that Bo doesn't think they've really been tested yet.... they will be this weekend and I guarantee that if we win this game, the D will get their Blackshirts. And I think the MEDIA is making it into more of a sideshow attraction more than Bo doing anything. It seems like Bo doesn't really want to talk about Blackshirts more than talk about the defense's play, but the media presses the issue. That's just how I see it. Anyone else see it like that?
  17. Nice thought... But it started out simply as a way to differentiate the Offense and the Defense in scrimmages.. Then it became a unique way of letting the starters know they were starting. Now it's either bait..or a symbol of an unobtainable perfection.. Not completely true. Every player knows exactly where they stand on the depth chart and yes, the blackshirts were first distributed to the starters to differentiate them from the 2nd and 3rd and 4th strings. Over time, the blackshirts became a SYMBOL OF DOMINANCE. It may not be tradition, but the tradition is evolving. I'm not against this because I don't look at it like destroying a tradition, I look at it like evolving it to be something that is a great honor to get. I'm not saying it wasn't an honor to be a starter in the past, but the defenses under Callahan were absolutely DREADFUL and to say that they deserve the blackshirts because we shut down Missouri in a MONSOON which benefits the defense anyway.... well I can see why Bo hasn't given them out yet. If we shut down Texas Tech, and by shut down, I mean dominate (not just statistics), then they will get their blackshirts. I think Bo wants to see how they do against a potent offense in FAIR weather. I don't see why everyone is getting so bent out of shape. Red, White or Black shirts in practice... I mean hell, yellow, orange, it doesn't matter. If the defense is dominating, I don't care what color they are wearing in practices. If Bo can get them to play with passion and fire, then it's irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the Blackshirts being handed out and I believe the D is significantly improved and it isn't just a fluke game against Mizzou in the rain (I think we would have shut them down anyway). But some people on this board are freaking out like it's the end of the world. Don't worry so much guys. This isn't tearing down tradition like what BC did. This isn't shunning alumni players like Steve Pederson did or taking down all the pictures of past years, this is doing something that all coaches should do. Making the players EARN things. They will get the Blackshirts sooner than later.
  18. Really wrong. Really. And to think.... McCoy was first team All-American last year. With LITERALLY 1/3RD the stats that Suh had last year!!! Get out of here! If Suh doesn't at least win the outland this year, I will go on assassination mode!
  19. -Best decision PSU could possibly make. Gotta bring in the young talent at head coach.
  20. Amen! It's understandable that Crick isn't getting the press that Suh is getting - Suh is, after all, a man among boys this year - but I'm completely sure opposing D Coordinators know all about Crick, too. I haven't yet watched the Missouri game for the second time, but I want to pay close attention to Crick this time when I do. I know he was in on several tackles and disruptive all night long. I just wish we heard more from Pierre Allen and Barry Turner. Allen had a good tackle for loss on the Missou RB at one point, but not a lot else that I recall (although I know both Ends racked up some tackles). If either of these guys breaks out in the next couple of games, good God, who do you block? I've actually watched the game quite a few times on espn360... specifically to watch the d-line against mizzous o-line. Obviously, like you said, Suh is a man among boys. But watching Crick (I focused on him in particular), he was smashing off of his blocks and it was awesome watching the surge on the line. Suh's man was being thrown back yards at a time... but if you watch the man next to him... Crick is pressing his man back at the same pace. So go ahead, double Suh, you'll meet Mr. Crick. And by the way, double team or not.... Suh will say hi to the qb at some point and will be a disruptive force all day!
