  1. Nebraska 31 Texas Tech 24 rushing 212 passing 475 Unfortunately, even though we win Tech remains ranked over us in the polls.
  2. Last season when we played Tech we completed 35% of our passes and had a net loss of 6 turnovers. That will not happen Saturday. Taylor is far too accurate. And the more experience Taylor seems to get, the more relaxed and confident he becomes. One more positive. Even though we seem to have a little difficulity running the ball it won't matter. Instead of having Ross run through the line we will bypass it entirely and throw him the ball on those short slants and crossing routes.
  3. If I had to pick just one thing I'd say run the ball more since we are throwing so many incompletions. As much as I'm tempted to say play more of the freshmen I won't.
  4. Wasn't it Lucky that said if he catches the ball he then "reverts back to a running back, and runs the ball?" Get the man the ball. Someone or somehow we need to get this offense moving. If Lucky isn't the key try Bowman or Jackson.
  5. Yep, we can beat Tech but our offense needs to step up. Our defense will keep us in every game we play this season. Even against our tougher opponents.
  6. Right, we watch the turnovers and mistakes and we win. But there is one other point that hasn't been made. Expect Callahan to run the ball more. Our strength on offense is our running game. When we pass 60% of the time we throw an incompletion. And when you pass the ball half the time it's no wonder our offense is so ineffective. Face it we don't have the WR's yet. But our running game has gotten a little better with every game. We certainly are not going to give up throwing the ball but we will run more. Nunn and Hardy will continue to anchor our receivers and on occasion we will have a very good day passing the ball. NU 21 ISU 3
  7. I'm all for it. Let's get Lucky on the field. We don't have to overwhelm him, just a couple plays to get him on the field. We need to do something on offense. If not this then what?
  8. The problems with our offense are rooted in our offensive line. Solich would have had to deal with the same ineffective line Callahan has had to deal with. Sure we would probably be running the ball better under Solich for obvious reasons, but Callahan is trying to bring in a passing game that can open up opportunities to win a national championship. We are struggling on offense but that will change. We are 3 - 0 and will beat the cyclones. Next Sunday morning we should be ranked. We are headed in the right direction.
  9. ISU isn't giving us any respect at all. They are going to be looking right past us. Our defense will keep us in every game this season. We will beat ISU and should be ranked afterwards.
  10. If we had a full team of Callahan recruits with two or three years experience under their belts things would be running smoothly. Callahan's play calling is actually pretty good. It's just the players are not ready for this level of WC Offense yet. The players are at times confused and making dumb mistakes. To top it off our offensive line is weak and our receiving ranks are too thin. We lost too many receivers before the season even started. Our receivers are a weakness right now. So Coach needs to simply call more running plays. But Callahan is right when he says the team is very close to becoming very productive. As our freshmen get more experience Callahan will use them more. And the more experience they get the better our offense will get. So the big question is what should Callahan do to get the newbies on the field? Clearly he is trying to ease them into the system. After all playing in front of 1000 high school students is much different than playing in front of 78,000 in Lincoln. I favor getting them on the field faster. The way our offense is playing we will lose at least a couple of games so why not get Beck on the field. He might just be the spark we need.
  11. I say let's get him in on the offense. Not much, maybe just five or six plays a game. Keep it simple, just a couple of routes. It won't hurt our defense and it can only help our offense.
  12. Based on all the errors we made yesterday it seems at the very least we need to get away from the double tight end set. The players were confused and kept drawing penalties. And yeah, we need to get the freshmen in. We are going to dump a couple of games because our offense isn't producing. We might as well get the young guys in and let them get a few games under their belt. We'll be better in the long run.
  13. At this point anything Callahan does that moves the ball is good.
  14. Our defense is looking very good. But we have too many questions on the offensive side. Our line isn't opening up holes, Taylor's completion percentage is too low, we aren't converting on third down and turnovers. But on the plus side Taylor looked more confident in the second half. Things started to come together for a while there. Have we played anyone who has won a game yet? Pitt hasn't won a game yet either. We should beat Pitt though and go 3 - 0, half way to a bowl game.

Did Leon Jackson redshirt? I don't think he has played yet has he?
  16. Unless our offensive line has learned to open up holes in the last couple of days this victory will depend on Taylor's arm. I think it's very possible we roll. callahan will come out passing and won't let up. Wake needs to score 50 points to win this game. Our defense will give them ten.
  17. If Nunn has a game like he did last week his special teams performance could be the difference in this game. If we control the mistakes, watch the interceptions, fumbles, and dropped passes we could rack up 50 points on Wake.
  18. Our offense will show huge improvement today. But what I'm excited about is our defensive and special teams play. I have to tape the game though. At least I can fast forward through the commercials.
  19. If we limit our mistakes we can beat Wake by five TD's. The dropped passes and fumbles cost us a lot against Maine. But we need better production out of our offensive line. Add in our receviers coming back healthy and we just might see some points roll up on the board. NU 49 WF 14

Is it when the gregorian calandar becomes a full day out of step with the seasons?

    Democrats return to power?
  22. I think most of our difficulties on offense were first game jitters. The only thing that really concerns me is the 38 yards rushing we had at half-time. But Callahan will keep things pretty much vanilla against Wake this weekend. Which is good because from what I saw we need to keep it that way for another week of so. I do expect our offense to improve a bunch in each of our next couple of games. Taylor should calm down and our offensive line should get a little better at opening up holes.
