  1. Thank you for actually reading the article and clearly understanding that in the context of the post, bag man is a catch all/umbrella term that doesn't just mean 'bags of cash.' The article even says that. Sometimes the kid is so poor that any money at all is a giant red flag and a different touch is required.
  2. This is the real reason LSU didn’t get him. They knew Ed Orgeron would never be able to say his name to the press.
  3. The shortest version I can offer is that it’s a projection for team/NFL contribution. 5 stars are your top ~30 players in the country and extremely likely to play in the league. 4 stars are your top 1000, good shot at the NFL, and it goes down from there. A 3 star is expected to eventually be a major contributor to their college team with a chance at an NFL roster. Someone else can correct me or do better for sure. Edit to add: Sometimes a player who hasn’t attended many/any camps will be significantly lower rated, and the system does favor people who matured physically earlier.
  4. I don’t know either. There can be a lot of things happening at once, including Clemson becoming known as a pipeline to the league. There were a lot of allegations from southern fan bases about Nebraska “dropping bags,” so I just wanted to provide some context. I also wanted to highlight the myriad of ways there are for the local team to encourage a kid to stay home when Nebraska is recruiting in SEC country. Ways that are impossible to prove, for example, getting grandpa’s tractor fixed. Everyone is free to draw their own conclusions.
  5. Thanks to everyone who actually read the material and contributed to the discussion. Most of you have raised some really great points and I welcome your feedback.
  6. That's pretty cool for Kayla, but I'd prefer if the SEC remained trash at volleyball. May she find success quickly and be out of that conference before she has any lasting impact.
  7. Why read when I can just know -every flat earther ever.
  8. So typical, why even post? Did you come here to brag about having a short attention span or flex how strong of an opinion you can have about source material you didn’t read? Lmao
  9. What’s your point ? We should go back to recruiting Farnioks to play LT because Chase Young will graduate or?
  10. Ok well that’s good to know. I can sleep easy at night knowing Nebraska will never play an elite d-end again.
  11. Actually if you read the article, which I don’t think you did, this is focused on the Southeast. But go on, keep thinking Shapiro/Hugh Freeze/Cam Newton are outliers.
  12. Keep telling yourself that. I can’t believe in 2019 we are still arguing about the purity of college football.
  13. https://www.bannersociety.com/2014/4/10/20703758/bag-man-paying-college-football-players This is from 2014 but it’s still a really good read. I know on ESD there was a lot of talk of “bag men” from other fan bases, so here’s an explanation. In a later interview, the author estimates that 100% of 5 star recruits and about 80% of four star will be offered some additional “incentive.”
  14. Frost doesn’t say this about a lot of incoming freshman, but I think he believes this one is ready to come play grown man football right away. Both him and Marvin Scott. I’m also really impressed that they got him to sign early.
  15. Ohio State was going to have a hard time stealing this one after that pheasant hunt, but I hear they sure tried.
  16. Heard that about both him and Nash. I think Florida State came after Smothers as well.
  17. Omaha better be showing this one some love, because the SEC sure will.
  18. That would be functioning like a top program should, in my opinion.
  19. Understood, but to my point, you can’t even double team him if you don’t have an LT that’s long enough to get a hand on him without holding. Otherwise he’s just running past your LT and you’re praying Mills/Johnson/Wan’dale can pick him up and that’s not a bet I’m taking.
  20. Which is great and if I understand correctly, not a position we are accustomed to being in.
  21. The Hedley thing was noticed. People can change so much in 5 years.
  22. The Georgia offer and his size tell the whole story here.
  23. I’m excited about the future and the pipeline in a way that’s hard to put into words. Nebraska is going to have serious length at tackle and you aren’t stopping the Chase Youngs of the world without it.
  24. Teddy is listed as 6’9” and I bet will be a top 50 recruit. I can’t imagine any universe where anyone takes him from Nebraska. That’s one hell of a cornerstone for a class.
