  1. Problem is your assuming Bo wants to be here... If he is unhappy it really wont matter who he hires or what he does, if he wants out he cant give 100%... When he was hired people were afraid of him making his bones then moving on, well we can pretty much say he was able to turn our program around.... So what keeps him here? A warm and fuzzy relationship with the media, or how about him and Harv, boy that public lashing last year must have him dancing in his boots... In the end any other high profile job will be as bad or worse, but that won't stop him from looking for something that might be a better "fit" for him (whatever that may be) I have no argument against that, it may be true. I don't think you make a coaching change because you think a guy might leave though. Given the amount of loyalty Bo showed Watson, I don't think he would leave. By going somewhere else he would be leaving all of his assistants behind, just turning his back on them? I don't think so.
  2. What I want to know is who does this "booster" think we will hire if we fire Bo? What good coach in his right mind would come to a place where if you win 10 games your job is on the line? Even then, if he is not a Nebraska man through and through and he is a good coach, he will probably get hired away by a Texas or Florida. It is sad, but also true. They can pay more money, recruiting is easier, and they can get better assistant coaches because they are willing to pay more money. I think a major aspect this is always overlooked by everyone complaining about Bo hiring his "high school buddies" is the trust and loyalty that goes along with it. By showing the assistants loyalty, they will in turn share their loyalty and stick around. Continuity is a huge part of college coaching, by having our coaches stick around relationships that are built with recruits during the season are not lost when the assistant either leaves or gets fired. Hopefully, our assistants keeps improving and stick around and in 5 or 6 years we will have some of the best assistants in the game. Look back at Osborne, he had McBride and Tenopir, they stuck around forever and eventually became some of the best position coaches. If you ever need some reminders that Bo is headed in the right direction all you need to do is read some of Osborne's and John Wooden's books. I've read them all and trust me, Bo will get us where we want to go, you just have to tough it out through these 10 win seasons.
  3. I can already tell I'm not going to like Michigan after a few short seasons.
  4. I was curious about where our boys were going to go after this year and I stumbled upon the 2013 draft projections and about spit my water out. You will never guess who is projected to go in the top 32.(They are projecting 3 N players) http://walterfootball.com/draft2013_1.php
  5. Just throwing this out there, but could our D not be as good because we are putting in new schemes this year to battle the very different big 10 offenses? It just seems weird to me that there is always a player out of position or not doing their job when we really only have 3 new starters on the field this year.
  6. They said something about Iowa's pink visitor's locker room this weekend during their game. I was wondering what our visitor locker room is like? Anybody have any pictures or anything?
  7. To me that's a perfect definition of a bandwagon fan. Why would you not be loud when the team needs you the most? I know how it sounds, and I made it sound worse than it really is. I generally cheer most of the game and have a raspy voice the next day. I don't give 100% if the team is playing terrible. I shouldn't have to inspire them to play well every play, they should inspire me to cheer loud through their play. It should be a give and take of sorts, but they are taking more than they are giving at this point and I think most people would agree with that statement at this point in the season. I'm a die hard husker so please don't question my fandom .
  8. I think it would be a lot louder if NU was playing well and it was a close game. I will cheer if we are playing well and it's close, but if we are playing bad against a team we should beat easily and its close, I just get pissed off and don't want to cheer (South Dakota State comes to mind).
  9. I'm excited to watch Burkhead run for the next 2 years, the guy is physics proof when it comes to tackling, and maybe one of these years he will turn into a burner and score some longer touchdowns.
  10. I'm not necessarily saying this year is our year and we are going to win the NC, I'm just saying it's possible. Whereas next year I don't really think it will be possible at all with the players we are losing on defense.
  11. I feel our two best chances of possibly making a run to the NC either happens this year, or in 2013. This year we will have one of the best defense in the country, and it is much easier to win tough games with a great defense. Just look at our teams the past two years. We had great defense and if our offense had been somewhat potent we could have made a run. This year our offense will be new, but I'm under the belief we will gain steam as the season progresses. Our defense will be good enough to keep us in any game this year, and thats why I believe we have a chance to make a run this year. If not this year, then our next logical year to make a run would be 2013. In 2013 we get to play the cupcakes of the Leaders division, and we will have one of the best offenses in the nation. Let me lay it down for you. This year we will have a sophomore at QB, 3 talented receivers sophomore and below(Tuner, Bell, and Enunwa), 3 freshman RB(you hope one will emerge), and on the O line we will have TONS of experience. In 2013 Sirles could be in his 4th season of starting at LT, Rodriguez in his 3rd year at RG, Either Pensick or Reeves 2nd year at center, at RG we will most likely have a 3rd year started(I'm thinking Cotton), and then at RT we will have a 2 year starter(unless Tyler Moore steals the spot from Jones this year). Thats something like 117 combined starts! So lets recap. Easier schedule in 2013, potentially awesome offense, and you know the Blackshirts are always stout. 2013 could be a special year! :bigredn:
  12. You probably heard it from Feux Pelini aka Fake Bo Pelini. He likes to tweet about t-ballers and how much they suck. FeuxPelini
  13. What is wrong with this list? Big Ten Preseason Nominees
  14. Okay here is the deal, to pass the time until football season, name a player for good ole NU and post a picture that reminds you of them and maybe if a short description if you desire. A couple examples: Very generic: Taylor Martinez Or goofy: Rex Burkhead Because you will never be as rad as Rex Burkhead. Lets see what you have to offer Husker Nation! GBR!
  15. Does anyone know why we don't box out?
  16. Does anyone else think it's kind of strange that there is a job posting for an offensive coordinator position? I was under the impression positions were filled by whoever the university likes and wants to talk to rather than any Joe applying.
  17. Pretty cool website I found with all the players broken down by day with a short blurb. Seems like a lot of sunshine from these guys, but fun to read nonetheless. North Squad Practice Reports
  18. Here's your commercial - Christmas dinner at the Pelini house. Beautiful table, huge turkey, Bo at the head of the table and Carl at the foot, family up and down the sides. Everyone shouting at the top of their lungs,"PLEASE! PASS THE GRAVY! CAN I GET SOME GRAVY OVER HERE???!?!?" and, "WOULD YOU PLEASE PASS THE TURKEY!!!!" and, "THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!" and, "THIS GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE IS FANTASTIC!!!" At the end of the commercial little Bo Pelini, Jr. says, very quietly, "This is the best Christmas ever," and the whole family, in shocked silence, stares at him until he shouts, "GO BIG RED!!!!!!" After which everyone goes back to shouting again. Tagline (in red, of course) - Merry Christmas, from the Pelinis Fade to black. You got it all wrong. They would be saying "Heckuva Turkey their Mom!" and "Huckuva Dinner we got for Christmas!" and Bo asking everyone "What do you think?!?"
  19. I was watching College Football Live and Trevor Matich was breaking down what the Sooners needed to do to beat our defense and he pulls out the Oklahoma State game and starts breaking down our safety play. He noted their bad play and missed tackles, I feel comfortable if that is our main problem because those 2 safeties don't even see the field anymore. Watch some more game film Matich!
  20. I want to play OU just for old times sake, but I'm leaning in favor of actually playing OSU. OU is bad on the road and they are so inconsistent. I feel if we did play OSU again we would have a fairly good chance of beating them. Everyone always says that it's hard to beat someone twice in the same season, and that is somewhat true. I think a lot of people overlook the fact that we are a different team now. The last time we played them we had 2 safeties who couldn't make any tackles and held Blackmon in check pretty well towards the end of the game. Now we have 2 safeties who can tackle and I feel our D-Line is playing better, not to mention having Compton back and the maturation of David. I like our chances if we play them again.
  21. OMG! That is awesome, they are twins! He also has the same name as the guy who played Billy, the original blue Power Ranger.
  22. So the full schedule is: Fresno State Washington @Wyoming @Wisconsin Ohio State @Minnesota Michigan State @Penn State @Michigan Iowa CCG Bowl Game I believe we are missing a non conference game, should we see if Alabama wants a home game and make this the most Bad A** schedule ever
  23. I read a possibility would be splitting them up. They would still play every year though cause every team would play one cross divisional opponent every year. They want to split them up in hopes they would play 2 games a year instead of just one.
  24. I always wonder if there would be one second left on the clock if the ball had hit the ground instead of the rail.
