  1. I actually laughed out loud at that JTrain. It's going to be a pretty close game though. I think MU has a slight advantage in the trenches. I think Nebraska has a moderate advantage on special teams (where you guys are just plain amazing).
  2. I've been a regular reader on this board for a couple of years now. One thing I've noticed is that Nebraska fans are as tough a critic as any I know. Could it be your team fears the home crowd judgement more than they do opposing crowds?
  3. I noticed Nebraska had an LT that went down in the game. Will he be back? Mizzou's DEs are the absolute strongest part of this team IMO. NE starting a 3rd string LT is big for MU. Equally big for NE is MU losing their starting DT in last nights game. Broken ankle and out for the season. That is the Tiger's most shallow position. I worry about NE testing the middle.
  4. Thanks for the advice fellas. Really looking forward to my first (and probably last) Husker game.
  5. If you are driving in from out of town how early would you suggest getting in for a 2:30 kickoff? I had a room reserved at the Embassy Suites.....I guess I'll be canceling that.
  6. If you are calling me a troll it probably means I'm not doing a very good job of getting my point across. I'll try to do better. I agree that was a quality road win for Nebraska. I'd put it on par with MU's performance at College Station this weekend. Both very tough enviroments against mediocre football teams. MU/NE are actually very similar to this point in both their strength of schedule and the outcomes. I'd say they will be even more similar after this week. Both teams cleaned up their Non-Con. However, BOTH had bad home performances against a team called SDSU. Both will have played the big boys at home and lost*. Both will be 2-1 in conf and 1-0 in the North*. *I'm assuming that MU loses to OU this weekend and NE wins.
  7. How good is Illinois? Not very good at all. I'd put them on par with Colorado. Just like CO found a bone against Georgia; Illini got their one quality win over Penn State. The only reason I call that a quality win is because it was by 20pts on the Nittany Lion's home turf. How good is washington?
  8. How many of your Non-Con games had BIG12 refs? Did you limit your stats to just those? If you didn't do you think you could? I'd be interested to see if it supports your theory more or less. It's not completely ludicrous to think that the BIG12 management in general would turn a blind eye to teams giving CO/NE the 'business'. However, wasn't Texas flagged for two personal fouls on one NE drive in the 3rd qtr? That would seem to conflict.
  9. It seems like you are taking a lot for granted. Currently MU is representing the North in the CCG. Even if NE wins this saturday and MU loses (a very likely scenario I admit as MU is 3pt home dog and NE is a 6pt road whore) we would still have the same conference record. In other words, if you want the CCG you have to take it back from MU on Oct 30th.
  10. Definitely do not worry about Missouri. They barely even have a real football team. Infact, there really isn't even a point in showing up to the game.
  11. Somewhere, Mark Mangino is having the best day of his life.

  12. Who is behind him for playing time? That would be Kendial Lawrence. A speedy back that saw very limited carries last year as #3. He has taken over #2 in camp. Looks like we could be without Jackson and D-wash for the opener vs Illinois. Those are our two biggest offensive play makers.
  13. You guys are pathetic (says the MU fan cruising the Nebraska board).
  14. I don't understand your 13 game schedule. Are you assuming that all BIG12 teams will make a bowl game of some sort? For example, how is Baylor going to get that 10th loss? Regardless, I'd totally take a 9-3 record this year if we can get that win over Nebraska. I guess at 10-3 you are predicting a better bowl performance from my Tiger's this year?
  15. If MU shows that they can run the ball this year they're going to be a handful. I still think we win by no more than 10 with Gomes and Dennard getting 1 pick each. As someone else mentioned, Pinkel gave the game away last year by refusing to run the ball, especially with an injured QB. He suffers from the same coaching deficiency that Callahan has in that he doesn't modify game plans as the game progresses. He's also not that great of a big game coach. Look no further than their bowl game last year for proof. It's not just that he isn't willing to modify as the game progresses. He's unwilling to modify even the day of. Once the game plan is written that's it. How else can you explain us throwing the ball 43 times in that game? It had been raining most of the day and everyone knew the skies were going to really open up by kick off. I like GP, but he isn't much of a gameday coach.
  16. I agree that Mizzou will not score easily, but I'm not sure about Gabbert being harrased that often. MU returns the core of an O-line that only gave up 19 sacks on 445 attempts. I know the talk is that your D-line will have little drop off from last year, but call me skeptical.
  17. I hope it is in the sunshine also, but only because I'll be at the game. Tigers will be underdogs, but it will not be a "Whoppin'"
  18. Link please. I'd like to read Gabbert's full comment on the rain. I was at the game and I still can't get over that rain. That doesn't mean I lay the blame on it for the loss. I blame Yost/Pinkle for contiuning to call pass plays with an injured QB in the fourth quarter. I blame Suh. I blame Ressel for missing his only FG of the year. I mean if you can't make a field goal in torrential rain with the most dominant DT coming after you.....you don't deserve to play at this level. I'm just say'n. Can't wait for Oct 30th.
  19. Mizzou's Non Con is pathetic. It's not their fault that Illinois isn't very good, but at least play a true road game. I believe the risk is worth the reward, in both SOS and the experience you gain prior to conference play.
  20. Thanks carl! Can't wait for Oct 30th. My first trip to Lincoln.
  21. I've got a room booked at the Embassy Suites on 1040 P Street. I can walk from there, right?
  22. This is topic probably best suited for off season dicussion, but this has been on my mind a lot lately and the Mike Leach situation has only exacerbated it. This is second time we've seen a Big 12 coach reprimanded/investigated for allegedly abusing his players (either emotionally or physically). In addtion we've seen increased concern all the way down the youth level over the physical tool football can take on ones brain. The NFL players association as of late has been displaying bruised and broken NFL retirees trying to get medical funding. This all leads me to wonder if there are significant enough americans that no longer have the stomach for gridirion football? Personally, what I love about the sport is the mixture of the violence and the strategic. I'm worried there is going to be so much push to increase the safety of the sport that ultimately the likelyhood of physical or emotion harm will be reduced nothing. There have been many rules changes over the years that have increased the safety of football (the forward pass being one of the first), and none of these have descreased the popularity of the sport. Football is still easily the most popular sport in America. However, is there a line that can't be crossed? Would you still watch this sport if the coaches were no longer allowed to chew out their players or the refs? Would the game be as interesting to you if you knew there was no chance of them getting hurt, much less injured? This might seem extreme, but I promise you that is the direction we are heading. I for one would not be that interested in watching THAT version of football. I don't think I'm alone here either. This all brings me to sad quesiton I must ask. Has football peaked?
  23. Surely you're not claiming that an opinion on a message board is equal to the kind of four-letter harassment dished out by some fans in person at games? Are you? Absolutely not. I wouldn't put up with that kind of brutality in any venue and nothing like that has been mentioned in this tread until now. Infact, I'm sure huskerboard doesn't even put up with 'four-letter harassment'. What I was responding to was 'talking junk'. It would seem that your definition of 'junk' differs from mine.
  24. That is an interesting theory. If true I would expect that any minute now 1,3 and even 6 other husker fans will put you in check for calling us morons and saying we suck. Unless of course I'm mistaken and your theory doesn't apply to public forums outside of Memorial Stadium.
  25. I was at the game and I can say that it was probably the worst game experience I've ever had. I went to the MU/KU game at Arrowhead last year when it was raining ice, and it wasn't as bad as this. The rain was coming down so hard, that you were soaked to the marrow. However, I knew that was coming an I choose to go anyway. The really bad part was that the stadium was running on backup power. There was no power in the concession stands. They were literally working in the dark and they had to explain to every person that walked up 'no you can't pay with a credit card'. The brand new big screen was down (I really wanted to see that), there was no PA and no Play Clock. I heard the radio mention that the authorities in Boone county were busy saving flash flood victims.....so I don't think there was as much crowd control at the game as normal.
