  1. just want to add something about Lee remember when we heard that his father told bo to "be hard on him"? I am expecting Lee to be a completely different QB next year. why? he has support from his team he has had success, so he is quite capable he handles the media well he understands the expectations he has gone through it now, the fishbowl, the criticism. he has shown he can do it, and after the heart to heart, ran very well, on multiple occasions. he was initially coached into NOT running, so you have to laugh when now the coaches want him to run all of this and more there is serious potential that this kid will become a man in 2010 it is really up to him though, do or die scott frost did it, so can zac
  2. like sipple, I am not so sure bo is the type of guy that is motivated by money and think as long as he has success, he will thrive and enjoy being here, there will be some tough roads, but i think bo can handle that... I am not so sure allot of us, myself included could handle living in the nebraska football fishbowl. part of the empathy comes from watching others go through it, imagine for a moment if it was on your shoulders, what he is trying to do, is extremely difficult.
  3. I'll go with frost on this one.. the reason why is here is a guy that failed terribly, but he gutted it out and the next year was absolutely unstoppable.
  4. Jammal Lord easy question, easy answer let me say this, if we had Jammal Lord as a QB for 2010, people would be screaming national championship for next year. in fact, this is an insulting question and topic to pull the jammal lord card like that.
  5. I don't blame watson for applying, what bothers me is the timing.. here is the real issue, if it is about money, then I don't get it. It's not like his salary is bad and he isn't having to live in another coaches basement. i mean, he gets paid several hundred grand a year. at some point, it isn't about money anymore and money does not equal happiness. ask Tiger. what this actually shows me, is wats wants out. now, the rest is just purely my own personal opinion, but I think TO had allot to do with keeping watson. I personally believe TO told wats, stick around, if bo doesn't work out, I will make you head coach. Bo is working out, and lets be honest, this year Watson did what he had to do, but it wasn't pretty. I don't want to crucify watson, but now after hearing this, I want him gone.
  6. you mean CG is leaving? Lee will start 2010
  7. if I were a betting man, which I am not, I would say Spano gets his free education and will never see the field. if I were a jerk, which I am, I would pull the schollie since we just took Marsh as some sort of PR stunt/project. nepotism aside, I'm sure cottons kids are worthy of theirs, just like watson's kid adam. I hope u detect the sarcasm re: some of the schollie player issues.
  8. it's been several (3?) years since I went, thinking about going this year, the spring game is always a good time
  9. I liked the article and think it's a smart way to approach recruiting. Sometimes though, you don't have to re-invent the wheel. What I mean by that is, others have also done their analysis, and usually people as a society or group, get it right most of the time.
  10. I am probably the biggest LTW fan out there. I hope he gets to see the field his senior year in a meaningful way. Regardless, he is a super nice guy, and he is nfl material, they just won't know about him. I will never forgive Watson for burning his shirt this year in bs mop up duty.
  11. I haven't gone through and read the other comments yet, but wanted to add my 2 cents to this topic. I feel bad for Adrian. He is a good person and you can tell from his radio and big red wrap up video. I don't listen to the games on radio much, and I don't know if Matt D is really any better or not. What I do know, is I watch the big red wrap up tv series, and hate listening to him. There were times this season, where I wanted to take his parts of the video, chop them up, sentence by sentence at times, and then add my commentary to it, and post it on youtube. I don't make youtube videos at all, and then it dawned on me the time required to do this, and really it boils down to this guy just repeats or makes stuff up and doesn't really think about what he is saying. The word I personally came up with for him was: GasBag... as he is just constantly spewing crap without thought. Now, I do think he is a good guy, good person, I wish no harm to him, I just don't want to listen to him. I will be glad that when I am forced to listen to a radio broadcast, I won't have to listen to him. I am sure he will be ok financially, he is a husker and part of husker nation, and embrace him for all he has done for the Huskers. Good luck Adrian EDIT: u guys that mention Damon Benning, he is definitely a good analyst, better than good, one of the most thoughtful and accurate.
  12. http://espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/index Just fyi, you can re-watch the game for free on espn 360
  13. I guess you could say, we always have a shot, as do any other team in a BCS conference does. The win last night, was extremely convincing as to where the football program is headed. While there is also "other" news in the college football world, this win gives the Huskers more great press nationally, and will help with recruiting. Offensively, we still have some work to do, but it will get there. I think we have been banged up more than what was really reported, and having more guys healthy for this game showed. What also impressed me is how Zac Lee ran the ball. He showed quick decision making and got North South and ran with determination and attitude. The elbow surgery that was reported after the game, changes allot of how I feel about Lee. I also think he has grown this year, and predict he will be our starting QB next year. Burkhead, what can you say but just WOW! We will have better depth at the oline position next year as well. So, if you add all this up, with a somewhat favorable schedule and it certainly does look very doable. Texas will have to break in a new QB, OU is struggling with theirs, OSU will be breaking in a new QB, KU will be doing the same (Turner will do a great job though), TT will fall off the map and I think the North might even be stronger than the south for a change. I see NU as a favorite for not only the Big12 North, but the Big 12 conference championship as well. This could put us in the national title game, and who else is going to contend next year?
  14. LaTravis, if you see this, now is the time to step up. step up and take ahold of it.. LTW FTW
  15. not remotely close? I guess we differ there. You throw out ZLee stats, with his 8 wins, and all compared to LTW 17 snaps. sigh, you remind me of someone just as blinded as some of the coaching staff on that one. I don't mean to bag on you personally, as you are quite smart in your analysis, but you seem to forget the issues this year on offense. You state, "Let's not forget.. ", but I counter, let's not forget LTW was recruited by Ohio State as a dual threat QB. Knappic, I will fight you tooth an nail on this kid, and you are welcome to fight me back on this too, but we may never know what could have been.. Watson screwed this kid and has a history of playing the wrong guy a couple of times now. maybe we can resume the discussion after the spring game.
  16. true... CG can still be successful and develop with good coaching. the thread being about LTW, I would put him in the drivers seat for next year. Just my 2 cents on what we have as the best QB to field in 2010.
  17. the knock I have on green is this.. he was very mature for his age. what does that mean? He was a "man" playing amongst "boys" in high school. This made him look good. Now that the rest of the boys are maturing and getting to his size and speed, he doesn't look so great. When I reviewed CG film, I didn't see anything that outstanding. It was more like they had a 24 year old playing against 16 year olds. Now that he is in college, others have caught up, and that "upside" has evaporated. I think Josh Freeman has more talent to be honest. So I know I will get hammered for saying all that, but really, what in his film made anyone think he was really that great? I just don't get it other than him being physically more mature than his competition and a decent runner in high school.
  18. my point is that he is a gamer and produces as an athlete... some of those things are intangibles that don't always show up on the "grading" system. he may not be the answer, but I will float you this much: Lee isn't the answer Green is going to need more time So, I don't find it too far fetched to give LTW a serious look, but then I'm not Watson. And no, I don't really have allot of confidence in our OC, but that is just me. (quick edit... did the math, 13/21 is 61.9%)
  19. I agree LTW should have redshirted this year, but when Spano went down both he and Green were destined to see the field. LTW is never going to be more than a career backup, so the theory that he'll be starting next year is bosh. Sure, we could have him for a couple of more years... of what? Wild inaccuracy? Rough edges? Burning his shirt for the fraction of plays he's been in on sucks, I agree. But even if we hadn't, LTW hasn't shown anything that would make a person think he'd get it done on game day. I was at the 2009 Spring Game and LTW looked good running the ball. However, the caveat to that is he didn't run it against our first-string defense. By the time he got in the game most of our starters were out. On top of that he was no-contact, and there were a couple of runs where he was touched but they didn't blow the whistle. Passing he was as wild as they come; zero touch on the ball, questionable accuracy, and again not facing our top defenders. You bring up Keller/Ganz, but it doesn't prove your point. First of all, Keller was clearly superior to Ganz in the Spring Game. It wasn't even close. Ganzy wasn't hitting his WRs in stride, they had to run to a spot and he would throw the ball there. Keller was releasing before his receivers made their breaks, and hitting them in stride. It is a revision of history to say that Ganz was clearly superior to Keller, and despite that, Keller started. Keller was better, and should have started. Keller was never the problem with that team. You say practice shouldn't be a barometer for game-day starts. You'd better get on the horn and tell that to every High School, College (all levels) and NFL coaches, because none of them have figured that out yet. They're all still hanging on to that old, outdated philosophy that the players who practice best get the start. Yes, in-game production is paramount to wins/losses, but you're taking an awful risk starting a guy who practices poorly on game day. Most any coach won't do that. I have watched every snap LTW took this year, from the Spring Game to the garbage time against the Sun Belt, and there's nothing I've seen that would make me think the foundation he provides makes for a better base to build on that what Cody Green or even Zac Lee provides heading into next season. If we're passing the ball at all, LTW isn't our guy. He's just too raw, too inaccurate. He has no touch on his passes - he about knocked a hole in Brooks when he rifled that TD into him in April, and several more passes skipped off hands because he fired them in so hard. "wild inaccuracy"? dude, LTW is not inaccurate, he just throws the ball very very hard. that is the knock on him. " was at the 2009 Spring Game and LTW looked good running the ball. However, the caveat to that is he didn't run it against our first-string defense. By the time he got in the game most of our starters were out." LTW started the spring game and threw 2 TD's against a mix of players, in the first half, and they used a lottery system, so no one played against the 1string anything. Keller did not look better to me in the prior spring game, but that is debateable of course. Ask TO how Eric Crouch practiced.. and why bobby newcombe got the starting job to begin that season. I watched LTW on every snap he has taken as well, and respectfully disagree with you on his immediate production.
  20. Couple of things... LTW should have redshirted this year, OR CG should have redshirted this year. The fact that the staff chose to play both, is one major screw up in my opinion. Second, LTW showed what he could do in last years spring game, and the coaches responded with quotes like "we were a little surprised" and then stuff like he will make an excellent backup etc. It reminds me of the Keller/Ganz situation, where the coaching staff at that time, Wats included, chose Keller over Ganz. I know Bo thinks practice equates to game day production, but that is just aa generalization, and rubbish to me. What matters is game day production, not necessarily how well you do in practice. We have seen this from Zach Lee, who purportedly practices great, then folds on game day. Couldn't the opposite be true? We could have had LTW for 2 more years if they hadn't put LTW in 6-7 snaps or whatever they gave him early on. Then they changed gears, and burned CG's redshirt. Water under the bridge now since we can't change that. What to do with LTW? Personally, I would start him next year, Lee can be a backup, and give CG a redshirt year. Kellog Jr moves to 3rd string, and Martinez moves to receiver. Spano, unfortunately will never be right with those 2 acl injuries. it's also important to get a dul threat QB in this years class.
  21. Whether it's Bo or his staff, he's responsible for the recruits brought in. exactly... (I mean that in a not so flattering way)
  22. Suh's Mother had a bigger influence on him not transferring and also returning for his senior year. Had nothing to do with Bo at all.
  23. my bad on the spelling error i don't particularly like TO anyways, but thanks for catching that and extrapolating it into your agenda/post maybe you will donate some money to the university so the next generation can spell properly? heck, no one even pronounces it correctly either, but thanks for pointing out the spelling error.
  24. actually, it's Bo's assistants who happen to keep that grade in the top third, it isn't because of Bo by assistants, I mean 2-3 guys on the staff that recruit worth a darn.
