  1. Make them better. That is what coaches are paid to do. If these guys are this bad in the mental aspect and the coaches see it, then why isn't Chris Weber on the field the entire time? Heck, let's even leave off the first part and just ask, "Why isn't Chris Weber on the field all of the time?"
  2. So...don't you think these linebacker problems should be fixed by someone?
  3. Bill Snyder took down Texas Tech...again...
  4. A depth chart is somewhat of an opinion. The five games played are a fact. The fact is that Nebraska has had good offensive line play with minimal penalties, at least "minimal" when compared to last year. I can't say who should play, as Nebraska's lineup is dictated as much by who is upright and mobile as any other factor. I am just happily surprised that the line has played well through these injuries, given that depth might have been a concern beforehand.
  5. A pretty good job of what could happen if common sense could overrule politics and money. Only thing is that you have Texas listed as an FBS school. They might be dropping down to be Northwest Missouri State's whipping boy if current trends continue...
  6. Here is what delusional looks like: http://www.shaggytexas.com/board/showthread.php/173665-Nebraska-wants-back-into-the-Big-12
  7. If we had a Mt. Rushmore for Nebraska football, your image would be carved between Devaney's and Osborne's. I'm thinking the fourth guy might be Henry Waechter, I always liked him. We could graffiti Mavric in somewhere lower, but every time he starts an injury thread, somebody ends up injured in it, so I do hold that against him.
  8. Actually, the two seismic shifts were the booing at the Ohio State game and somebody releasing the "secret tape" as some sort of "GOTCHA!" moment. I had to agree had no defense with what was being said at the then ShaggyBevo and some SEC sites about the Nebraska fans handling of both incidents, and having to agree with some Longhorns probably has scarred me for life. But like you said, if you guys are okay with excusing those things, we can agree to be different. As for Bo, he is where he wants to be. Nebraska gave him his freedom and he is back in his old neighborhood making the same money in a place he likes better, so firing Bo really isn't the problem here, is it? Fans didn't really need to become a lynch mob once Bo had enough rope to hang himself, right?
  9. I'm not. I think last year was a dark cloud with a silver lining. Now I am ready to see the Nebraska football team do better since the inevitable had played out last year.
  10. I pointed out that this phrase was first coined in this forum by "The World's Greatest Fans". That is why quotations marks were used, if you noticed. I used "blue hairs" as such to point out that my perception of a great fan is that they would be more deferential to their elders and more accommodating. I am fine with the term going away in this forum. Do we agree on this?
  11. If we are talking fans, then it's a matter of not making going to the game intentionally worse for someone when you can make it better. I think we both agree on this. If you are talking players, we have been through that and nothing new is to be said. Again, it's all about keeping the atmosphere enjoyable for all and not causing offense where none needs to be. This actually isn't "fandom" stuff, this is nothing more than being reared properly.
  12. Well, I admit to providing the arrogance for my part, and since we are hand-in-hand in this debate, that leaves your contribution as...? Don't take the above seriously, but you did leave that one hanging out over the plate!
  13. Nebraska enhances its own brand by becoming a regular in the Top Ten, regardless of conference. 5-0 is somewhat enhancing at the present moment, so how about Nebraska takes that AND a big pile of money.
  14. I remember the KFAB guys watching him one game in 1989 and saying that Huskers might have claimed the National Championship if Gdowski had started a year earlier instead of Steve Taylor...but that's nothing more than opinion. I do know that it seemed Todd Milliken would release from his TE position and be out there behind everybody, 30 yards from the nearest defensive back waving his arms and Taylor would throw a one hop pass to him... ...time and again...
  15. Few Huskers ever played harder than Jamal Lord. Solich was canned IN SPITE OF Lord's efforts, not because of them. My guess is the problems were a lot worse than the QB play for Frankie, but I won't even hazard a guess as to what.
  16. I get embarrassed for some sometimes. That's a bit different and quite a leap for you to equate the two, but the "love us unconditionally or else you hate us." is part of the meme on which I comment. By the way, just to get some more insight on specifics, how do you think those two guys that got into an altercation about sitting / standing should have handled it? Which, in your opinion, is the greater fan? The guy who was willing to block another guy's view all game to show his Husker spirit, or the guy who got physical to show his? Just maybe, MAYBE, neither?
  17. Prime example, right here in thinking that "Husker fans" are the center of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, rather than the players / team / game. Maybe I don't really care about the "Husker fans". Maybe I'm here for the football and the team that actually plays the game instead? Really, it's not always all about you when someone says "Huskers".
  18. Just different. I might miss things you see and see things you miss. Does that bother you when everybody isn't alike?
  19. I think he was one of the toughest runners Nebraska ever had at quarterback. He fought (and won) some epic battles to get the last two yards for a first down. Maybe Rozier or Phillips were harder to bring down than Jamal Lord, but I don't know who else could lay claim to being a tougher runner than Lord besides those two.
  20. Gerry Gdowski is without a doubt on the top of the list. If you don't think so, then it is probably because you were too young to have seen him play.
  21. Without me grounding you guys in reality, you might be headed for the far side of SEC fandom...and I don't even want to see that!
  22. Do you feel sorry for the old timers ("blue hairs") who have been buying tickets since Devaney's time and now are considered pariahs by many Nebraska fans? There was a guy who posted here and was proud of the fact that he was involved in an altercation and got someone kicked out of the game because he was blocking this guy's view and refused to sit. Do you feel sorry for the guy who got kicked out, or are you proud that two of the "World's Greatest Fans" behaved that way to prove their loyalty? "I'm such a good fan, I'll keep you from seeing the game!" "Well I'm a better fan, because I'm going to push you down the stairs to see the game!" Anyhow, last season was more than a little bit of Schadenfreude for me, but this year is different, as far as the team goes.
