  1. Rhodes is definitely a great coach. If he could recruit some talent to a dump like Iowa State, he would be a force.
  2. I find myself laughing hysterically at the mess that the Big 12 is. I also think Dan Beebe is a joke, and is directly to blame for the state of that conference. All I can do is be thankful that Tom and Harvey had the foresight to get us the hell out of there before they all started suing each other. Missouri lost last night which is just a cherry on the sundae. Aside from Texas and Oklahoma, the rest of the conference is absolutely begging for a home right now. Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor are surely nobodies. Then they only make themselves look less desirable by suing their own conference member? Who the hell would want these clowns in their conference?
  3. Braylon Heard is gonna take a few to the house this year I think. I hope he keeps getting the opportunities. All of those young backs look fantastic. Burkhead is the man, and these guys have a great example to watch and learn from.
  4. I certainly don't mean to label the entire fan base. If I came across that way, I was mistaken. I frequent many different sports talk radio shows, and websites, and thought there was an overwhelmingly negative vibe coming from many people. I always know that there are a great number of sane fans out there who will objectively look at some of the struggles we showed Saturday, but also give justice to the positive things we displayed. These negatives can be fixed. I have simply said that many of these negatives should have been foreseen. We are so young on this football team. It may sound like an excuse, but by God it's the truth. These are people's kids out there. True freshman and sophomores, playing on a huge stage like this. I don't know if I remember a Husker team being so young. I just want people to slow down and give these guys a chance. It may not be this year. I think we may lose some games this year. I just think we have a great thing going now. We finally have some youngsters gelling together on the field at the same time. These guys will grow together and will become spectacular. We just can't freak out every time we don't quite look as polished, pretty, and shiny as everyone thinks we should look. Some are panicking, some aren't. For those who aren't, don't take it personal.
  5. I've grown so used to this fan base hitting the panic button after 1 game that it's scary how familiar it all feels. I've been preaching about all the offseason expectations guys. Some should listen. Let the kids play the games. Cheer them on. Root for them. Don't quit on them. They are working to get better. They want to win games more than any of you do, right along with their head coach. We aren't always going to be the best team on the field. As long as we play as hard as we can, I am happy though.
  6. Turner.......That kid should see the ball thirty times a game.
  7. The God's gave us this day for football, we will not waste it! Go Big Red!
  8. If we only get 9 wins then the season is a failure since we will have regressed from our last two years. We can still be a better team with a lesser record. Are we going to debate that this year's schedule is tougher than our Big 12 schedule. Of course it is. We don't have KSU, Kansas, Missouri, or Iowa State anymore. 10 wins in the Big 12 is good, but I think it's a lot tougher to get ten wins in the Big Ten. We may regress a bit as far as number of wins, but quality of this team will go up in my opinion. Our first major improvement is saying Bye Bye to the Watson sham of an offense. This offense will blow that out of the water. But it is only the first year trying to execute this offense.
  9. I want to go on record that I never said we won't be bowl eligible. I think nine wins is absolutely a reasonable expectation this year. But if I'm not mistaken we play more than nine games this year? So as I said, we may trip over an opponent or two. We quickly forgot the most hyped Red Out Around the World game where there was no way Texas was gonna come into our house! and beat our ass! Texas came to our house! and beat our Ass! We then watched Texas AnM make our offensive line look like they were wearing pink skirts. They shoved us around like little girls. Then we go to Oklahoma and blow a 17 point lead in a game we knew was the last chance we had at a parting shot in the face of the biggest douche on the planet named Dan Beebe. We all know the entire team knew that there was a lot more than a football game in that Big 12 Championship. Between that Oklahoma game and the Texas game, Nebraska hasn't had bigger games than that in the last ten years! We lost them. So forgive me if I say nine wins is going to be fine by me.
  10. I used to be that way to In The Deed The Glory. Then I realized how truly lucky you have to be to win a National Championship. How many breaks have to go your way. How spoiled we were as Husker fans back in the 90's. I probably cheer harder and louder than most. I probably act as foolish as anyone when we lose. I seriously get emotionally invested in this team. This last comment above was the part of me that tries to temper that. Every bit of me wants us to win them all. My head tells me there is so much to overcome right now that I won't be surprised a bit if we have some hiccups. We all know the tasks we face. Let's hope we get it done. If not though, I hope we look classy and respectable in everything we do. Even the most intimidating teams of the 90's had some stumbles. They usually happened in some big games, but they never lost that attitude. I won't lose it either, but I respect the fact that it is very tough to be as dominating as some of those teams were.
  11. This year is going to be tougher than most of you all seem to think. Enjoy the games. Let's watch these guys develop into something special. We are so young across the board this year. There is gonna be some bumps in the road. Cheer them on win or lose.
  12. I love some of the cartoons and avatars you all come up with on this site. Definitely a bonus. I agree with most of the points this guy makes honestly. As big a Husker fan as I am, we have a lot of questions to be answered. The QB situation is definitely an unknown. Nothing known behind Martinez. Carnes could be something special. WHO KNOWS? The offensive line sounds like it will be full of youth, and that could be trouble. They won't necessarily be terrible though. Their inexperience may show up at times. I believe in Rex Burkhead. I guess the rest of your points are all exactly why I am so excited to watch this season play out. So many questions to be answered. A lot of opportunities for the Big Red to step up on some big stages. Gonna be good, definitely worth watching and I will be watching every single one of them. That is the point of this whole thing. To play the games.
  13. Yes, this Knapplc has apparently been surrounded by some very good patrons. I've been to 8 or 9 Husker games my entire life. I believe at atleast 6 of those I have heard someone complaining about all the standing. I have personally heard about it from the elderly individuals behind me at 2 games. I am always a polite as I can be about it, but damnit I just reflex when we score. I'm up most all of the game when all those around me are standing. I've also been surprised at how quiet that stadium can be at times. The last three years I have been to atleast one game a year and it can be quieter in that stadium at times than it is in the house with my two little ones running around. I do want to note that at one particular game, there was an elder beside me at about 75 years of age or so I would bet. Me standing six foot three beside here very small frame, she caught my elbow on her way to standing at two different times during the game. As we both jumped up at exciting moments of the game, here shoulder caught the point of my elbow. I felt terrible about it and thought maybe I had hurt her, but she was so damn polite and was having such a good time with her husband. We exchanged off and on chat during the game. I thought that was worth mentioning.
  14. You think it's faulty logic that Iowas returning defense will be strong, but that their offense will not be good enough to beat our defense without Stanzi. Clearly stating that I think they are losing a big piece of their offense with the loss of Stanzi? Faulty logic? I think not.
  15. I'm hoping to see Brion Carnes get plenty of time this year. I think he may take that starting spot by the end of the year, and full time starter by next year.
  16. So many question marks this year. New conference, new offense, new venues, new challenges all around the board. One thing has been consistent with Nebraska football in Bo's era. Strong physcial defense has done nothing but try to make up for the shortcomings of our offense. I know Shawn Watson is gone, and trust me, we all pray that the offense is better off now than it was. I still think a first year offense is a dangerous thing going into a barrage of stout defenses in the Big Ten. As I said, Nebraska will remain consistent. We will struggle with teams that have strong defenses. Just like we did with Texas, Texas AnM, and Oklahoma. Thus, we will struggle with Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State, and Wisconsin. Those are the top ranked defenses in the conference right along with us. We will beat Iowa, they lost Stanzi and I don't think they can overcome that. I think we lose to Ohio State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin.
  17. We were on the same boat that night Talaricohusker. I was lost in a sea of Bud Light myself.
  18. I would love to take my fiance' to that night game vs. Fresno State on the 10th of September. I was really looking for some upper deck east side seats sections 101 through 110 I believe. I lost out on some on ebay when I got outbid at the last second. My mistake for not bidding high enough. Now I am really searching for some others. I don't mind the south end zone seats either. Willing to pay a fair amount for the tickets. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  19. Always love hearing about hard work and dedication paying off for these walk-on players. Good stuff.
  20. Omaha World Herald just broke the news.................Sorry Husker fans. but it looks like Antonio Bell will be making the most out of his switch to CB. Darn I was really looking forward to him at wide receiver.
