  1. The best way to prevent abortions is to provide easy access to contraception and comprehensive sex education. Didn't Colorado provide birth control for essentially free a while back and have their abortion rates plummet?
  2. If we're going all purity police, lets just restart prohibition.
  3. It's funny, he's at the forefront because he was the one who perpetrated the action. Maybe if he didn't incite the January 6th insurrection, the gubernment would've been fine with him just f'in off to Mar A Lago (unless any of the other lawsuits against him gained more traction).
  4. Episode 5 was the best episode yet because it stopped focusing on internal pain and had characters actually do stuff instead of dwelling on said pain. My take on Reva is that she was placed in a very poor situation and has since been playacting and forcing herself to be on the darkside because she knows thats how to survive until she can take her shot at Vader. The reason she's not as intimidating as Vader or some of the other darksiders is because there's a part of her that doesn't believe in what she's doing so she takes these big, exaggerated actions to make sure she's seen as the biggest possible dog in the yard. When in reality, she's just a Chihuahua with a bark bigger than its bite.
  5. Have to believe that the DOJ is making sure to cross all their t's and dot all the i's because while Trump is the headliner, it is a deep conspiracy that has a lot actors. They're piecemealing the charges on the bottom guys cause they don't matter. They're just patsies, and they are going to announce the charges once the committee exposes all the information into the air. Announcing charges and then letting the trial expose everything, would probably be a poor course of action in this instance due to the cult following the guy at the top.
  6. IMO, what theyve done with the inquisitors has been some of the best parts of the show. Reva feels like shes acting the way she does to compensate. To drive her Jediness away so that she can become Vaders apprentice.
  7. I think depressed and defeated Obi-Wan is warranted. The man experienced first hand a genocide of his people that was perpetrated by a man he thought was his brother. I have no issue with him just existing in the first couple episodes. Its just as soon as he gets roped in by Bail to rescue Leia, his life has turned into one instance after another of what can the storytellers do to make him hurt, emotionally and physically. Episode 4 changed that up a bit (in that it focused very little on Obi-Wan's pain), but it's very easy to see what's going to happen in the next few episodes (not that I'm complaining of something being telegraphed). I'm just not seeing a reason for this show to exist outside of fanservice. It'd be different if it was fun, like Solo, but its just not. It's a competently made show (though some of the lightsaber stuff in ep 4 was eh), and the acting's been good, with a surprisingly good child actor. The show might have been better, though, if it split focus between Obi-Wan on Tatooine meditating/learning from Qui-gon and a different Jedi running from the Inquisitors/Vader. Keep Indira Varma's character the same, but just have her helping the mother and child at the beginning of Episode 2 get away, which leads to the cell being discovered, but the mother and child surviving as a hope for the future bit (supposedly that was Corran Horn and his mom as a setup for the Rogue Squadron movie, for the peeps who know their EU). Spoilers for Ep 4
  8. Stop breaking the law a$$h@!e! If you don't want to be arrested, maybe don't do anything that requires being arrested.
  9. You obviously don't know his story if you say he doesn't want to deal with adversity.
  10. I’ve been thinking about the 2nd amendment in passing and I don’t think the phrase “we’ll regulated militia” means civilians like it’s been interpreted by some. That sounds like a member of the National Guard. Someone who takes time out of their lives to be trained and act as a unit. the previously posted tweet with the marine vet makes sense. Also no civilians should have an ar-15. And if they do, it should be limited to single shot.
  11. 1st two episodes have released, and I was right in that everything but Obi-Wan has grabbed my interest. Some spoiler thoughts:
  12. Not much of a teaser. Just recycled things we've already seen.
  13. Time to jump on the bandwagon if you haven't already. Already beat an MLS side in the US Open cup (tournament for professional soccer clubs based in the US) and are now up 2-1 on another one for a birth in the quarter finals. Streaming now on ESPN+.
  14. They talked about this on the pick 6 podcast this week. Essentially, Russia makes like a quarter of the world's amount of helium. No imports of helium has caused the price to skyrocket (something like $40 per liter before and $1500 per liter now). The helium the university does buy is better used for medical equipment and such.
  15. Just a thought, but one of the reasons for Roe going into effect was because of Patient privacy wasn't it? So if its repealed, wouldn't states/federal government be able to pass gun control laws (background checks) based on the privacy part of the law that is being removed from Roe?
  16. Of the three, Baseballs season feels more like an outlier than the norm. Too many losses in one score games. Too many games where the clutch play evaded the (hit, defense, or pitching). The ball was dropped too many times and games against the lower rung of the B1G flittered away. Football was kind of in the same situation too, but there's more years of evidence against Frost than Bolt. I'm confident that they'll make a bowl game this year with the changes on the offensive staff and the guys they've pulled in on defense (equal to if not better than the ones who left in the portal). Only downside is that there's no Domann, but I think the other players already in the system or who transferred in can step in to replace the other players. Basketball I have no clue on. They definitely seem to be focusing more on defense with a few of the transfer players brought in (Alabama and SMU dude), but the main issue seems to be the long stretches of games year over year where there is a combination of a scoring drought that leads to the defense not working either. (Creighton last year, Iowa) Maybe it just ends up working, but of the three, Basketball is the one who's probably going to have a similar season/record as next year. I think the main reason for the issues is that Bill Moos was too hands off in places where he needed to be hands on. This is notable on the Football side where, for better or worse (mostly worse), Frost was given carte blance to do whatever he wanted. I think things would have gone better if Alberts was the one who hired him (i.e. the school hired Alberts in 2017 instead of Moos). He needed some of the freedom, but he also needed a guiding hand to help him at running a program at a place like Nebraska. Basketball, though, I think is a wrong fit that wasn't known until they brought in Hoiberg. I think its because Hoiberg was ahead of the fold with transfers at ISU before he left for the NBA and everyone caught up, but also the Big 10 is a different league than the Big 12. Not so much the strength, just the differing styles of play.
  17. I will never use the phrase "they didn't deserve to get into the tournament" because of poor play through the year. Guess what, everyone else also had to play games. Just because expectations were high at the start of the year, doesn't mean Purdue's waffling on playing their last game of the year isn't a chicken s#!t decision. You're supposed to play all the games on your schedule, and actively making sure it doesn't happen is bs.
  18. Something something George Carlin called it 20 years ago something something
  19. 2nd place in the 200 at 21.34 or .33. Kid who won is from Creighton Prep just a hundreth of a second faster.
  20. Weird thing to point out when there's always been some sort of restrictions on abortions.
  21. Just over a week out and I still have no clue how to feel. I'm still on the "It's a terrible idea to have Obi-Wan do anything but watch over Luke between episodes 3 and 4". Still feels like this was only made because online fans were vocal enough and there were treatments from a movie that was in the initial planning stages at some point. I will say that everything but Obi-Wan has piqued my interest in the series. (Maybe its the only contrarian opinion I have, but Obi-Wan has always been the least interesting "main" character between the three trilogies. Whose main appeal was due to the actor playing him over anything else)
  22. Here come the umps. on ESPN2 for those who want to suffer.
