  1. The vast majority of Texas fans are pretty much conceding an ugly defeat vs NU over on Shaggy Bevo. Below is a list of some of the gems they generated as the NU vs. KSU game progressed: Should be good watching. We'll likely lose to both of these teams. Martinez is going to give our defense fits. f*** that offense looks good : ( N def looks good dammit, nebraska is gonna rip us a new one Wow... That was an awesome ball fake. Guy runs like INS is after him.... I see our guys missing tackles on Martinez...a lot. Tuned in just in time to see the QB make KSU's defense look foolish. lol dire situation it sucks cause what we are basically watching is US vs nebraska, not ksu. this is gonna be the same type of game we play, i fear f****** ridiculous Nebraska is gonna whip our asses. thanks mack brown. Jesus. We are going to get our s*** pushed in by Nebraska. this QB can f****** run My a-hole is getting sore watching this. Weeeee're in trouuuuuuble. the best we can hope for tonight is that someone from ksu breaks martinez's leg and we actually have a chance the game @Nebraska will be one very frustrating game Man, that touchdown reminded of Vince Young ill be happy if we keep it within 10 of nebraska Taylor Martinez must be a Mexican of West African descent. Not looking good for us next week. Maybe we can score on kickoff returns. Their coverage doesn't look that great... (Yeah, I know, not a good plan.) We should absolutely not be scared. We would be foolish to not be VERY concerned. You know what's confusing? The Nebraska defense LOOKS like you can move the ball on them. But you can't flippin' score! #4 for corn can lay the wood on a tackle. F****** A MARTINEZ IS KICKING ASS IN THIS GAME!!! man that kid is fast. well nebraska wins the big 12, we are f****** haha. 80 yards. Martinez is going to destroy us. 209 yards rushing. goddamn We are so f***** We got this s***. Kansas State sucks (ignore that they beat UCLA for a moment) f*** man nebraska is looking formidable Martinez is going to shred our ass next week. that f***** is fast, jesus. at the 30 yard line he slipped through the crease and SIX f'ing defenders to explode for an 80 yard TD. Lord have mercy. Nebraska has fumbled SEVENTEEN times in five games. That is our only hope. Otherwise, they beat us by about 17 or 21. Damn....Martinez is the Mexican Denard Robinson.... Boom better have started gameplanning BIGTIME. either K state is slow as s***, or Taylor Martinez is faster than all hell. I am not looking forward to facing him...lol wow. Ok. Not to worry I've come up with some solutions: 1. We sneak longhornsgirl into the stadium next week and have her give Taylor Martinez his flu shot but really it's a shot of ebola. 2. We have someone tell Bo that the schedules were messed up and they play at Oklahoma State next week. Then the following week is the showdown against Texas. Pelini will believe it. Look at him. Not too long though or you may go full Pelini. 3. Nuke Nebraska from orbit. Great, the last thing we need is a Nebraska team with swagger and confidence going into next week. on their home field. UT defense is going to have its hands full trying to stop this NU offense Hunter Lawrence, HOLLA! I wish I had something optimistic to say ........ Being realistic about how bad we suck isn't hating Texas. we are fooked double fooked damn LOL at watching one team pound another and think, "You know, I think we can beat the guys getting their asses kicked." Well, at least we can hope to beat K-State in Nov.. I think. Right now, Martinez is playing ten times better that Crouch. You're right. We're doomed. Good Lord, some Texas fans are pussies. I've received like 64 texts in the last hour: "We're f***********d." "Greg Davis is playing on his Etch-o-sketch right now." "We lose by 28." "The Mexican Vince Young." F****** embarrassing. We go into Lincoln and knock these f****s out. Period. Leave the bitch-s*** at home. (takes another swig of Jack and Coke) F***, that karate chop didn't stop that f'ing flying mexican. 16.1 average per rush for Martinez. Wow! Looks like we'll be needing more lube than I thought next week...Martinez is scary. I don't think we can stop Mexican Jesus. we are going to get prison raped on national television next Sat. my fear as well. So Martinez finishes his night 15 for 241 on the ground. Damn. LINK
  2. I've watched the highlights of the game on ESPN several times now (like most of you I'm sure) and suddenly realized that we ran right through the K-Sucks defense damn near untouched on all six big play TDs! When is the last time you saw that happen for the Big Red? Contest: Count how many hands the KSU defense got on the ball carrier/receiver in all six of our big play TDs. Seattle Red says 2 (best I can tell from the low resolution web highlights on ESPN). First hand: Left tackle gets a hand on Martinez leg as he takes off for his first TD. Last hand: Corner or safety dives and barely gets a hand on Martinez ankle as he goes on to finish his last TD. Heluuu-Goodbye "island express" TD - untouched Martinez to Reed "bombs away WIDE OPEN then let the defenders catch up" TD - untouched Martinez other two "halftime sandwich" TDs - untouched In summary: The mildcats did not get a hand on the scoring ball carrier between the start of TD play #1 and near the end of the final TD play #6! That is freaking a-maz-ing! Don't tell me they aren't secretly happy as hell now that they don't have to play us next year or any year again soon. The Blackshirts put in a solid exclamation point as part of the overall team statement on the field tonight: We are now officially looking like a very dangerous team to play once again and our opponent had better prepare every conceivable way they can think of or we can potentially hurt them fast in all phases of the game. Awesome hightlights to relive in the future and a great start to Farewell Big 12 conference play by solidly trouncing the previously undefeated purple kittens of KSU!!!
  3. Prediction for Nebraska, just after Bo was hired: Ari Gold: "You will come back stronger then ever. Like Lance Armstrong. But with two balls."
  4. Now that Oklahoma has the clear edge over Texas for the B12 South, NU now has the realistic opportunity for a fitting and sweet farewell to the old Big 8 and the current Big 12: We have 6 of our former Big 8 conference brothers on our regular season schedule, with the opportunity to play the remaining team in the CCG in one more long overdue classic battle to the last whistle between top ranked (and hopefully both still undefeated) NU and OU. I hope all the ole B8 teams (and the refs) bring their A game and we win fair and square. We have the top two college football teams in the state of Texas (historically) on our regular season schedule. I hope we BLOW THEM BOTH OUT and NU succeeds at removing all doubt in the state of Texas that we are back and on our way to the top, and without us, they just might indeed be down and out again like the old SW conference. We won't get a chance to redeem ourselves with T-Tech, but maybe someday in the distant future we can steamroll through Lubbock on our way to Pasadena or Miami and de-pants those tricky, acrobatic Red Raiders and restore the order fully in a 99-0 bloodbath of epic proportions. At our worst, Baylor never was a serious threat and we part with the lowly Bears in peace-- only God (not Robert Griffin) can truly help them.
  5. The Husky season ticket holder I sat next to at the game told me the following after the game: "I've been to every home game for the last 49 years and I have never seen the visiting team pack this many of their fans into our house".
  6. For those who haven't read the latest sporting news and might be confused at first as to who Sarkisian was talking about, it's Reggie Bush.
  7. The latest local forecast from the komotv website indicates it might be cloudy, but dry: Updated Friday 4:25 p.m. Two storms will be rolling through Seattle tonight -- one with a lowercase 's' and the other with the capital version. The Seattle Storm will be celebrating its championship this evening, while a Seattle storm celebrates the last weekend of summer. The former will be heartily cheered, the latter? Eh, perhaps not so much, unless you're a big fan of the Seattle Autumn. Low pressure offshore is spinning a batch of rain our way for this evening and tonight that will develop from the south. It'll be soggy through roughly midnight, then we'll start tapering off the showers. Lows will be in the upper 50s. Saturday is not looking all that... stormy as we will be in between those batches of rain being spun our way -- at least for about 4/5 of the day. There will still be a few showers roaming around out there, but I expect a fair amount of dry time during the day through about mid-to-late evening. Sunshine? Not so much, though. Highs will be in the upper 60s. Our next bout with rain arrives late Saturday evening and makes for a rainy Saturday night. Showers will do a better job of lingering into Sunday, with highs in the mid 60s.
  8. It's about the same distance from downtown Seattle or Bellevue to Husky stadium, both about 10 minutes away.
  9. I agree. This is a Husker fan that doesn't get the opportunity like most of us get living here in Nebraska. We get to watch Nebraka every other Saturdays so I say soak this up cause Nebraska doesn't play Washington on a daily basis. Go out and meet the players but remember they need their beauty sleep cause we need to win tomorrow. Thanks for the updates! Thanks for the support Bradr and huskerjock. I've had this date circled on my calendar for a long time and I can't believe the day has finally arrived! I've only attended two Husker games in my 50 years of living-- the Wake Forest game with my brother in Lincoln a few years ago, and the 97 game here in Seattle against the Huskies. Back in 97, I was working as a video production intern for the local ABC affiliate (KOMO) doing the local post game show. I had to watch that game with the rest of the post game crew in the worst seat in the house-- from the west (closed) end of the stadium down in the trench that surrounds the track. Fortunately, I had a good view of the jumbotron at the other end of the field, and I got to be down on the field walking around during the pregame warm ups. I don't get back to Nebraska very often, and lately it has always been for a funeral for a family member, so I do indeed cherish this opportunity to see my favorite sports team up close and personal. 15.5 hours until kickoff and I can't wait. I got a screaming deal on a great seat (smack dab in the middle of the Husky alumni section) for $110 and will be sitting right on the 50 yard line, two rows behind the drip line of the roof in the upper deck and out of the rain (unless it's windy). When the sun comes out for the second half (per local weather forecast), I'm on the sunny side too! It's gonna be a great day and I'm confident we will win, but make no prediction on the final score.
  10. T-Mart was joking it up some with whoever he was hanging with. He looked like he was having a good time and didn't seem nervous or anxious at all. I actually almost missed him, as he came down the escalator with a large pack of players. He brushed right by me and suddenly I recognized him inches from my face and managed to pat him on the back and said "Good Luck Taylor. Shred them dawgs!" He smiled back confidently, then turned on the jets and a split second later he had covered half a city block and was across the street at the hotel waiting for the rest of the team. ;-) OK, I made that last part up. He just smiled back and walked off into the sunset with the rest of the team...
  11. I just got through giving the high five to every player on the team over here in Bellevue! Details at the end of this thread. GBR!!!
  12. OK. Here is my final update on this thread. I just high-fived, fist bumped and shook hands with EVERY SINGLE PLAYER on the team! I got back to the mall just as they were leaving the theater and coming down the escalator on the way back to the hotel. I was a one man welcoming committee from the Eastside and I wished every single one good luck in the game and told each of them to kick some Husky ass and make us all proud. They were all friendly and cool, yet seemed calm and focused. I don't know the faces of every player on the team, but here are the ones I slapped some skin with that I recognized: T-Mart Cody Green Zac Lee Roy Helu Rex Burkhead Tyler Legate Niles Paul Jared Crick Amukamara DeJon Gomes I'm not big on the autograph thing, but was willing to try to get a few for the nephews if it seemed appropriate. However, they looked like they were ready to get straight back to the hotel and into the sack so I never even tried to bug anyone for an autograph. Zac Lee was the most friendly of all and probably would have given me a scratch if I asked, but I didn't press it since it's really not my style. I didn't see any of the coaches, so I assume they were back in the hotel working on the final game plan, etc. I tried to take pictures with my IPhone as they came down the escalator, but I was so busy shaking hands and trying to work the camera at the same time that almost all of the pictures came out blurry. The couple that weren't blurry, I don't recognize the guys in the picture and I'm not sure if anyone could due to the low resolution of my 2nd gen IPhone camera. Anyway, I'm pumped to have had the chance to meet the team in person and wish them luck in tomorrow's game! GBR!!!
  13. Yeah, you're right. This team is so undisciplined that they couldn't possibly keep their focus if a few fans cheered them on and slapped them some high fives on their way back to the hotel.
  14. As I posted in another thread, the team is staying in the suburb of Bellevue (about 10 minutes from downtown Seattle if not rush hour). There are ZERO huskers running around over here besides me and the team. I ran into a couple players this afternoon outside the Hyatt Hotel where the team is staying. They are taking in a movie across the street from the hotel right now and will be heading back to the hotel around 7pm. If you can, catch a cab over and wish the team well. Bellevue is nothing like Seattle (ultra-modern, super clean, and RICH!), but there are some really nice up-scale bars, restaurants, shopping next to the hotel, so you could hang out over here for a while before heading back to wherever you are staying tonight. GBR!!
  15. It took me a little too long to get changed and back to downtown Bellevue. So, I went straight to the theater and the the last of the team was just going into their private viewing of the movie. I asked the theater staff what time the movie was over and they said around 7pm PT. There is NO RED over here in Bellevue except me and the team! For those of you in town, it's not far to Bellevue from downtown Seattle (10 minutes if it's not rush hour). Catch a cab over right now and show some RED and some love for the team! I'll be standing out on the corner of NE 8th and Bellevue Way in front of the Hyatt hotel waiting to wish the team well, shake some hands and maybe get an autograph or two for some relatives. GBR!!!!
  16. Had a late lunch at Wendy's and as I was leaving I see a couple guys outside in Nebraska red athletic pants and tops. I say hi and introduce myself. I ask them if they are going to the game. One of them answers, "Yep, we're playing in the game". Turns out it's Tyler Legate and his buddy Kevin Thomsen. The team is checked in to the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Bellevue (5 star hotel right next to Wendy's, WTF?) They said they were both hungry as hell and we're wishing they could pop into Wendy's for some chow but had to wait another hour to eat with the team (apparently against team rules to eat anywhere but with the team-- especially fast food junk). Anyway, for those in town who don't have other plans, swing on over to the Hyatt in downtown Bellevue and you might get to meet some players/coaches. They said they are going to a movie tonight (The Town) across the street at Lincoln Towne Center. I'm sure that the team reserved one of the theaters, so you won't be able to watch the movie with them but it's another opportunity to meet the team. I forgot to ask what time they were going to the movie, but it's probably fairly soon after they eat at 4pm PT. I was dressed down as such that I didn't feel comfortable going hanging out in the Hyatt in my slacker outfit, so I came home to change and head back downtown to see who else I can meet. Gonna hang out at the hotel first, then head over to the theater. Maybe I'll see some of you there. I'll be wearing a red Husker sweatshirt and a black Huskie hat with the purple W.
  17. July, August and most of September are the dry season. The odds of having a great, dry, cool fall football day are good in mid September. It doesn't really start raining around here until the end of Oct or early November.
  18. Seattle on the east side of Lake Washington, 2 miles from Husky stadium. Since I don't have a boat, maybe I'll just swim over to the game and avoid traffic on the 520 bridge (as well as the huge construction/obstruction currently going on around Husky Stadium). I hope the weather is nice on game day so I can strut into the stadium wearing only my tight, red speedo swimming trunks with a great big N on the front to hide my tiny, shriveled, frozen sexual member (Lake Washington is COOOOOOLLLLLLDDDDD!!!!) Once the Huskers and I get warmed up though, watch out-- that N is going to get HUGE! ;-)
  19. How do you think the Big Man is doing over Cameroon getting eliminated in the first round of the World Cup? He and his dad were really excited that Cameroon was in the tourney, so I'm sure they are some degree of bummed out that they got eliminated so soon... P.S. - I wasn't sure where was the appropriate place to post this, so feel free to move it if necessary. Didn't there used to be a section for "former Huskers"?
  20. I thought of this one too. Yeah, it's like the Red River Shootout/Rivalry, but I kind of like it. Less hick sounding than Farmageddon, and more tough/rough sounding.
  21. Here's my "perfect next two years" scenario: 2010 We roll over our weaker non-conf opponents. We beat Washington by a comfortable margin. We beat all ex-Big 8 opponents in close, but exciting, nail biting farewell games. We pound the s*** out of Texas at home. We play and beat OU in the B12 championship in the "Game of the Century II" We go on to deny Alabama a repeat and win the NC 2011 We go undefeated, win the B10 championship. We play Texas for the NC and pound the s*** out of them again.
  22. i think this is a much more natural rival, and will be mutually accepted. now for some emoticons: :hellloooo :ahhhhhhhh :ahhhhhhhh :hellloooo Here is the truth, a rivalry cannot be manufactured and it cannot be started in the first year of annual competition. Let it get going for a while. Do you think that the OU/UT game was called the Red River Shootout the first year they played? It takes years, besides I think that cute names are for second tier football programs (besides this obvious exclusion). Even though I give them a lot of sh!t I think Iowa is above that. I know I am. There is no cute name for Ohio State/Michigan that I recall, nor for Notre Dame/USC. Sorry, but I think a simple Iowa/Nebraska is a better way to describe it. It is more dignified. BTW, it has a better ring to it with Iowa first I feel. Can't believe I just said that. i appreciate your truth, but i do not know what you mean by manufacture. i get that people can try to force rivalries, like colorado did with NU, but the reason that it was never a rivalry is because we never cared about it. people will care about this game, that is what makes it a rivalry. we will want to win this game more than most (even though we want to win all games equally, if we had to lose to michigan st. or iowa, i think we would rather lost to MSU). what makes a rivalry is the higher stakes (i.e. bragging rights). i think we all know a lot of iowans, maybe even related to a few. this game will be important to both fanbases and held on a higher level then any of the other games, and that is why it will be an instant rivalry. not all rivalries have to be forged like the OU/NU rivalry, and the reason that on fell apart so easily is because it was forged by both teams being in the top 2 and when one school became less relevant, the game was no longer relevant. UT/OU will always be relevant because of geography, just like this game will always be relevant. even if a team is down, this will be an important game to win. plus, rivalries make the sport more enjoyable, so it makes sense people would push for them. it may take some years for this rivalry to become intense and gain more gravity, but i think it will be an instant rivalry. i don't know why you are down on cute names, but with american consumerism, it is all about branding. just like teams have 'cute' names and mascots, rivalries can be branded, i don't see how it affects the dignity or integrity of the teams, it just makes a rivalry more unique and the nickname highlights what makes the teams rivals. for instance OU/UT share the red river, hence the red river rivalry. Well said sd'sker. I agree. It's a natural geographic rivalry just like OU-UT is. The game will claim bragging rights between the two states, just like OU-UT. It will be given a cute name, just like OU-UT. Some won't like the cute name for the rivalry (depending on what it ends up being called), but you can never make everyone happy. BTW, I tried to find out when they started calling the OU-UT game "The Red River Shootout" (now corporately hijacked and called "The AT&T Red River Rivalry"), but my web searches have so far been unsuccessful. Anybody know?
  23. Some of the Big 10 trophy rivaliries are manufactured (see Wikipedia), some are based on historical incidents. The 1999 NU-IU game is the kind of incident that could be the foundation for a rivalry trophy called "The Naked Boot Trophy" History of "The Naked Boot" Trophy: In 1999, Leading 35 - 0 with 5 minutes remaining, Nebraska quarterback Eric Crouch runs a naked bootleg and decimates the only Iowa defender between him and the end zone. Iowa fans go ballistic over NU running up the score. NU joins the Big Ten in 2011 and Iowa proposes "The Naked Boot" trophy in their inaugural meeting. The Huskers accept and a trophy is designed with likenesses of Eric Crouch and Mikkel Brown at the moment of impact. The annual rivalry has persisted for over a thousand years....
  24. I can't come up with anything cool sounding that includes corn...
  25. I posted a similar suggestion in the main Husker Football Formu. +1 for me on FARMAGEDDON ;
