  1. Gotta throw it to do it. Thank God Callahan is in a Republican state. Once he settled down on some very impressive play-calling, he switched to the most vanilla, conservative, play-calling I've ever seen. Thanks to all in lower section 26 who put up with me yelling and screaming, pumping arms, screaming some more EVEN before the T.O. was over...I had NO idea my buddies' section could rise to the challenge....everyone got rabid... This was the ONLY good thing about a close game. The fans around me just wanted it...and that was AWESOME
  2. Callahan play-called wonderfully...for 1 HALF 2nd half looked like *@!? is that prevent crap in the 4th?!?! It's 7 to freaking 6?!?! Not much time for corrections...not much time for hope. This is the WORST 3-0 team I've ever seen But hey...we're 3-0!!! If you think teams left on our schedule can coach and play-call...bet on them. I would. I have NO voice I have NO enthusiasm And there is NO reason for this. Talk about being humble... Hats off to the fans...anyone who was there KNOWS they won the game.
  3. BIG POINT EVERBODY saw what a difference Cody Glenn made....what a HORSE!!! This guy was a difference maker, pumped up the crowd, players, moved the chains, very impressive. 7-6, late in game, needed clock and yards... NOWHERE. NOTHING. Pitt knew EXACTLY how to take us out, and did it. This is unacceptable.
  4. Hey guys: I would just like to apologize...had some car AND credit card trouble (you seriously DON'T want to know how easy it is to get ripped off, even in Lincoln) and had about 10 minutes to tailgate on the south side of the stadium. Very upset I didn't get up there, hope you had a great turnout. I'll put up my game observations later when I get the chance. Foppa
  5. Can I pick mine!!! Gary Thorne Peter McNabb Jon Kelly Kirk Herbstreit Bill Clement Barry Melrose
  6. You bet. Thanks for showing up with nothing to add, your team nowhere to be found close to Husker Nation, must be a dry spell in Drunk Valley. Thanks for playing, we have some lovely parting gifts for you. If a tree falls in a forest, and no one hears it, does it make it sound? NO.
  7. Thanks for the insight. I was going to use my ticket on the 50 yd. line and go to the game, but instead I'll sit in the parking lot by my car clubbing my tire-iron against my hand, waiting for those 'shifty eyes' to come around. You do know the game is in Lincoln, right?? This reminds me of when my buddy and I took the park n ride to and from the Orange Bowl in '94. The bus was FILLED with Husker fans, and this bum got on, tried to steal a Husker fan's beer, and run off the bus, at the same time yelling 'Go Canes'. Now I know most Husker fans are pretty tolerant, but that guy got his *ss kicked after then grabbing this girl's *ss going up the isle. He got smoked, and then tossed onto the sidewalk (don't even think the bus had completely stopped). So if all these 'criminal' fans that come down from Pitt wanna start something, they should know there will not only be a huge Police presence, but 78,000 others that won't put up with it. I can't even believe I wasted my time on this rant
  8. Reported that C. Thomas will start at LT, but Murtha will see some playing time at the position. R. Picou will have (or has already had) season-ending shoulder surgery (he was going to redshirt anyway at least)
  9. I'd park just south of 'O' Street, but it depends on what time you go to the game. If you're an early bird, and like to hit the restaurants, shops, and bars hours before, you should find something closer. Wait until 2 hours before kickoff, and you'll probably be down around K street. The advantage to this is grabbing a drink on O to 'break up the long walk' to your car after the game The disadvantage is the metered parking. Most meters only go up to 2 hours, which wouldn't work. Lincoln really needs to suspend meters during games, but I'm sure Grandma Mayor buys presents for the grandkids with all the fines she collects on football Saturdays, so that will never happen. It seems like there are ALOT of $10 parking all around the stadium, if you get down there at a decent time. I've just never justified paying that much when I park for free, and use the extra $$$ on a couple of cold ones after the game.
  10. I have to say that THAT should make for some awsome Blackshirt play! Nice post, BTW.
  11. I'd be surprised if this hasn't happened before, not necessarily for NU. But still, what a way to tick off your opponent! Keep hitting the film room, Corey!
  12. I guess I'm somewhere in the middle. I don't think Cally has 'destroyed' the program, and I think I'D be hard pressed to find anyone who thinks he could be called a 'savior' at this point. Time will tell on both accords. I think it is safe to say that part of the legacy BC leaves will be based on his ability to get his offense molded... 1) So that he understands the learning curve of the offense throughout player's 3 or 4 year careers (this, obviously, will take at least 3 or 4 years) 2) Read into how well each player individually understands the offense, and whether they haven't learned enough and shouldn't start, or that the player is too talented and offensive adjustments need to be made. (IMO, this is key, because there will ALWAYS be GREAT players who may not be able to understand big, complex offenses even if they had 10 years to learn it, and maybe 2nd stringers who grasp it easily but cannot produce the desired effect on the field due to less talent) These two points will be important into what kind of college coach Callahan becomes, and how he adjusts the offense to both. But this will take a little more time than Cally has had so far.
  13. Just a question: Do we have a good chance of the offense getting 'on track' if Brooks and Herian return vs. ISU? I realize there is still the chance of line issues...but the bright side is there will be 1 proven, and 1 thought to be, great threat of CATCHING THE BALL.
  14. I caught the tail-end of Sean Callahan on 1620 this afternoon, and thought he said that Brooks will be in regular WR rotation vs. ISU?? I know this matches the timetable that was set for his injury, but would he get in right away? Can anyone confirm this, or that he is currently back in practice?
  15. Didn't I title this thread "Big Red Alert"?!?! *runs out ducking flying big brothers and admins*
  16. To Admin: Does Huskerboard have a 'V-chip' of sorts? So I can block certain posts from certain people that I don't really need to see? I love the Huskers, always will. I know we could suck or be decent. And I'll live with either. But constant negativity gets old. If NU went 13-0, certain 'fans' would be pissed that SP didn't schedule a kickoff classic game. Or that the Nat'l Championship is tarnished because our schedule was soft. Rediculous. I know it's all message board fodder, but still. I have faith that NU will take necessary steps if things get too out of hand. But right now we're 2-0, and until that changes, there is cause for concern to strengthen our weaknesses, but there is HARDLY a need to fire everyone, and dwell on what we can't control. Miss Frank? Move to Athens. Hate BC and SP? Send them an email. He11 yes I have my opinions on coach, AD, etc., and I voice them on occasion. NOT EVERY FREAKIN POST. I'm going to my first, and probably only home game this Sat. I look forward to having a good time tailgating. But I'd be a little p*ssed if I walked into the stadium thinking we were going to lose 77-0, all the players quit the team, SP gave BC a raise for it, a comet came in and destroyed Memorial Stadium, I lost my truck, dog, and wife (oh wait, that's country music ) all from comments from those around me. I love debate, and I love other's opinions, but geesh. Enjoy (or don't enjoy anything, I guess)moderation.
  17. That is true. Seems like a hodge-podge of several of NU's concerns all squashed together in one article. Still like to see what outsiders have to say.
  18. Thought you all would be interested in this: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=cn...cnnsi&type=lgns
  19. Probably 'pains' you in more way than one! That sucks though, tough break! This is my first game of the year, hope it is a better performance (at least offensively) than the previous two.
  20. I would like to attend the tailgate, at least for awhile, as my relatives also have one going, but my printer doesn't work, so I don't think I'd be able to print off the GC. Any suggestions?
  21. Side Tracks is always a good place to go in Lincoln on Fri. nights before games, if you can get there.
  22. Pitt is NOT in trouble, OK? 1) NU has a confident, attacking defense 2) NU's defense is exactly what takes down a team like Pitt 3) Palko's receivers all seem to be wearing the wrong jerseys 4) Palko cannot be confident in ANYTHING right now 5) Palko's confidence will NOT come back in front of 78,000 in red KNOWING they can and will rattle him 6) NU's offense will not need to do much...but they will this week 7) NU will fix the left offensive line, even if it means putting Tommy Lee in. 8) This is Taylor and Co.'s first day game since...Spring game...see the connection? 9) Everyone but Benard, ignore the top line. Yes Benard, the Huskers are screwed again this week, and the sun won't come up
  23. Regardless of the controversy, I'd go way out on a limb (and it's easy to do now that he's hurt )... Give us Octavian back, and we are cruisin BIG time. I can't imagine having to face Steve, Cory, and Bo back there...these guys are INTENSE!!!
  24. Umm...that's all fine and dandy...but I wouldn't ring ISU up yet. WAY too early for that, ya think??? I'll feel a little better when our OFFENSE can start producing consistently...otherwise, no matter how good our D produces, all bets are off on ANY game.
