  1. I live about 8 hours away and the Pelini and Martinez years did not have me clamoring to make that far of a trip that's for sure.
  2. Armstrong threw it right to the linebacker!
  3. Adrian Gonzalez is the first MLB player with 5 home runs in his team's first 3 games
  4. You know it's going to be Tommy. I do however think there is a leash this time around. At least I hope so. I hope HCMR doesn't play TA only on the fact that he's more experienced and instead goes for the best all round guy regardless of the backlash of playing a guy who hasn't played a snap of college ball. Agreed. The interesting thing about the spring game and then of course the real season is that some of these guys will just respond better than others plain and simple once they're in the game. They might not be the #1 guy on the depth chart but for whatever reason they'll step up once they're in there. To me it makes guys like Darlington a lot more intriguing. Someone who might not be mentioned as much as say Armstrong or Bush but there he is. Waiting in the shadows so to speak only to surprise fans once he gets his chance. Of course that could be a Johnny Stanton or AJ Bush also.

  7. Ronnie never got called on until injury at the position so with Bo the genius that he was running things pretty sure Ron never got the playing time he probably deserved. T Mart was definitely not what I would I call a leader by any stretch of the imagination either that's for sure. That's an odd way to remember the 2013 season. It was clear to most folks that the coaching staff considered Armstrong too green and Kellogg too limited to anoint as undisputed starter when Martinez went down. So both perfectly healthy quarterbacks were alternated by series or by quarter for several games, to fairly good results initially. When it became apparent that Armstrong's passing skills weren't that much worse than Kellogg's, and his elusiveness was far superior, Armstrong largely took over the job. When Armstrong was out for the Iowa game, the offense was 100% Ron Kellogg's. At home. On Senior Day. As the hero of the Northwestern miracle. At which point Ron Kellogg III proved why he didn't deserve more playing time. So the losses with Taylor at QB including the thrashing at Wisconsin proved Taylor Martinez deserved more playing time?!!?!! Kind of hard for a QB to develop chemistry and rhythm also when you come off the bench in the middle of the season like Ron did. Let it Bo. Another weird way to read this. I thought the question was whether Ron Kellogg deserved more playing time. Both Kellogg and Armstrong had to come cold off the bench. For that matter, Taylor Martinez was asked to start the 2010 season with zero game experience and an experienced senior on the bench. Cardale Jones came in cold, too. Leaders can't wait to get the ball. Ron Kellogg III never looked like that guy to me. Iowa had everything stacked in his favor. Kellogg responded weakly in every facet. No amount of reps would have changed it. I'm willing to blame Bo for a lot, but not playing Ron Kellog III more doesn't make the list. Pretty sure a lot of successful athletes would completely disagree with this notion. Scott Frost was mentioned just a few posts ago. There's just one example of a Nebraska QB who definitely got better the more reps he got. Not everyone is Cardale Jones. Most athletes need more reps to get better. To become more comfortable with what they're asked to do and as far as quarterbacks to develop timing and chemistry and to develop just plain ol' experience among other things. Some guys (Steve Taylor, Tommie Frazier, Turner Gill) can step right in and hit the ground running. Others definitely need time to develop and just because they do doesn't mean their not capable of becoming good or even great players.
  8. Exactly. Our big bad running game shrunk last year when we stepped up in competition. That's great that we hung big numbers on FAU but our numbers vs the 4 best teams we played last year (all losses) were Michigan State: 37-47 1.3 ypc Wisconsin: 46-118 2.6 ypc Minnesota: 38-174 4.6 ypc USC: 43-144 3.3 ypc How good is a team's running game if they can't do it against quality opposition? It's almost like they could just lean on people when playing weaker competition, but once they started playing people that were just as big as they were and had to rely on technique, they fell on their face (or rear end). That's why a passing game good offensive line is the running game's best friend.

Cause Bo knows football....... Let it Bo....

T Mart was definitely not what I would I call a leader by any stretch of the imagination either that's for sure. I seem to remember his team mates calling Martinez a leader. Of course you do. I remember him leaving teammates to answer for his poor play after losses and standing off to the side with his arms folded when we were down instead of talking with his teammates. Calling your dad on the phone at half time of a football game doesn't scream 'leader' to me. Moving forward....the spring game is 4 days away. At least we'll get to see what kind of offense these QB's are going to be asked to run and we'll get a preview of seeing guys like Stanton, Darlington and Bush. Seems like the only time we saw backup quarterbacks under Pelini was in the spring game or when someone got injured or in a mop up duty role. It will be interesting also to see how Armstrong fares.

  13. Opening day! Sonny Gray with a no hitter for the A's until the 8th inning. Gave up a single but amazing performance nonetheless. Giants win their opener. Jimmy Rollins hits his first home run as a Dodger. His 4th career opening day HR. A-Rod's first game back since September of 2013. Glad baseball is back. Hope to get to some games and drink me some brews in the sunshine.
  14. 5th title for Coach K. Puts him in second place alone behind John Wooden. (Wooden has 10 championships)
  15. So much of this teams success I feel anyway actually lies with this unit. I just hope things don't get ugly. Lewis is something to build on. With new coaches and some new guys upfront these guys have a lot of work cut out for them. I love the big uglies.
  16. He is gonna be the #1 pick in the draft Too big to pass up Give Kaminsky some credit. Either way it's obviously a huge decision that's going to have a huge impact for Duke either way.
  17. Will be interesting to see what Okafor does. Jabari made the jump after one so that's gonna be huge for the Blue Devils whether he stays or not. The Devils are a young obviously really talented team.
  18. Helluva game. Hats off to Duke. I thought when Okafor got that 4th foul early in the 2nd half it was Wisconsin's game. Also there coach (Bo Ryan) was screaming to get it inside to Kaminsky if you were listening so that's on the team not him. Give credit to Duke though for also playing some pretty tough d coinciding with that.
  19. Good thing this game starts at 8. Wouldn't want people to miss one episode of Mike and Molly you know.

Thank goodness for Better Call Saul.

  20. Normally I am anti Wisconsin anything. I like this team though and I really like their coach. At the same time I don't hate Duke the way a lot of people seem to. I really like Coach K and love Okafor. If Wisconsin plays well though to me it is their game to lose. They play incredibly well together and their poise is unreal. Tonight should be a good one.
