  1. Seriously. This is not a question. We know what the answer is. True. TO has my vote - always has, always will. Just wanted to get other's thoughts on Snyder. Really makes me wish TO had returned as coach.
  2. You make a decent point when you mention the national titles, but a large part of that was due to the players we had. Obviously a big part of coaching is recruiting to get those players, and in that regard, I would definitely say TO had the edge. The other part is getting those players to buy into the program and win, and that's what I'm wondering about with this thread. Who's better?
  3. Before today's game, I was thinking that if we continue to get embarrassed in the big games (which could definitely still happen btw) that Bo would have one more year to prove that "Nebraska is back, and here to stay" as he so eloquently put it a couple years ago. When NW went up 28-16 in the 4th today, I honestly thought we would lose today's game, then go on to lose to Michigan (high probability of losing), lose on the road to MSU (gonna be awfully tough to beat them), and then lose to Penn St (playing arguably the best football of any B1G team at the moment). That, my friends, would be a total of 6 losses and only 4 wins heading into our last 2 games of the year. I realize that may be a bit dramatic to think such things, but if that were the case and we barely became bowl-eligible this year (or worse, missed a bowl), then I'd say Pelini returning for a 6th season would be a HUGE question mark. Oh and I'm not sure this has been mentioned, but I do think this entire conversation boils down to money. Our new AD may not want to face a situation where we need to get a new head coach, but I'm thinking the people who really matter are the people who are largely responsible for financial donations. What if they don't like Pelini to begin with (as previously mentioned in this thread, he's not the most cuddly guy)? If money is power, which it is in this world, then I'd think Pelini could very easily get the boot.
  4. Just to clarify, that wasn't Bell's first play of the game. He had gotten several snaps before that penalty, including 1 play when he got lost and did not cover Colter on a 3rd-and-long, which resulted in a NWU 1st down at a point in the game when we really needed a stop. Makes me, for one, think his exchange with Pelini was something more than what it appeared (being benched b/c of a penalty).
  5. I think we all know what Bill Snyder has done since returning as K-State's head coach is nothing short of miraculous. How he gets that team from where they were after he left to where they are now is just baffling to me, especially considering K-State is nowhere near the top when it comes to recruiting. I'm not K-State backer by any means, but I'd like to think I recognize an outstanding coach when I see one. And that leads me to the big question of this thread - who is the better coach between Snyder and our own beloved Tom Osborne? If TO had returned as head coach instead of AD, do you think he could've done what Snyder has done since his return to the sidelines? I'd like to think so, but I'm not so sure. No question Osborne is one of the greatest coaches of all time, but given the situation our program was in b/c of Pedersen/Callahan, could he have taken us to the elite status we all crave so much in the same span of time as Snyder?
  6. beneficiary of what ?and big 12 defense is pitiful? the big 12 has how many teams in the top 25? and at this rate, K state is going to be playing for a national championship. we couldnt be further away. the B1G blows, and we are a helter skelter team...k state would be shredding this conference right now. Agree completely with that last statement. K-State isn't flashy by any means, but it is refreshing to see a team that is such a cohesive, disciplined and focused unit (yes, even if it is K-State). As far as I'm concerned, Snyder is coach of the year. Makes you wonder what things could've been like had we been able to bring back TO as coach rather than AD.
  7. I always liked him. Very classy guy. On that note, I wonder how many games he actually attends. If we take a seat to nobody outside the SEC talent-wise and size-wise, then we should be dominating the B1G. Wilbon was just being nice if you ask me. Maybe wanted his almamater to look that much better if they took us down.
  8. I was expecting/planning on at least one big breakdown by the D. The thing I didn't count on were the ST biffs by the normally sure-handed Abdullah and Bell. Erase that first biff, and NW probably doesn't score that 1st TD as quickly as they did. Erase the biff by Bell, and NU would've gotten at least a field goal with the incredible field position we had (he muffed the catch at about NW's 40). If those 2 would've done what they normally do so consistently, I think it's fair to say that would've been at least a 10-point swing in our favor.
  9. I think people are overlooking one big thing about this Michigan team - they have a great defense (10th nationally, I believe). Not only will our D make Robinson look really good (alah 2011), but their D will make our O look really bad (again, alah 2011). Hope I'm wrong, but that's the realist in me.
  10. The realist in me says that Michigan's 10th ranked defense will stymie our offense, and Shoelace will pretty much repeat what he did to us last year. After today's loss....errr....awkward/undeserved win, I just don't see how we'll beat Michigan.
  11. Btw, I think it's embarrassing that we're talking about such a call even being made. While it was a bad call IMO, Stafford had no business doing that, just as Nebraska had no business biffing so many times in this ugly win.
  12. Garbage call from a ref who didn't see the ball was loose 50 yards down the field, and that really didn't even matter because we were the team punting the ball. Stafford simply pushed the guy in the back, knocking him to the ground. Last I checked this is football, and the only time that is called is when it's blocking in the back, which in this case could only have been called on a N'Western player.
  13. Please don't tell me you're serious about WATSON. Dude left town. How is that not good enough for you?
  14. Michigan 31 Nebraska 30 Husker rush yards: 185 Husker pass yards: 160
  15. Schmidty on 1480 ESPN radio in Lincoln was adamant yesterday that Nebraska should boycott this game if Paterno coaches it. I memory serves, he even said "Nebraska shouldn't get into bed with Penn State if Paterno is coaching this game." To that I gotta say "Are you kidding me?!" Nebraska getting into bed with JoePa? What a joke! Nebraska absolutely should not boycott this game. This whole mess is for the big wigs at PSU, not any of their current football players...and certainly not ours. Honestly the way some of these media folks respond is just mind-boggling.
  16. Fisher? Really? Only time he can tackle one-on-one is when the guy goes down with a gimp ankle before even reach Sean.
  17. And yet, the nation's #2 rush defense did not.
  18. Couldn't agree more. Amazing what happens when we pound the rock straight at these top-notch opponents. Mizzou and now MSU just fell by the wayside to Helu and Rex. Kinda makes me think Rex will start averaging 25-30 carries every game here on out b/c Beck understands that's how we win games.
  19. O/U on 6 different NU players catching a pass Under O/U 3 personal foul penalties in the game Under O/U Sparty passing yards 250.5
