  1. 9-3. I know the competition hasn't been real great, but this stretch has gone better than I expected. I really thought they'd get 10 or 11, lucky to get 12 simply because of how bad this team was last year and this being the first year of the new staff. They will most likely have 10 after tomorrow and in they remaining 4 games they should be able to get at least 2 wins, and could certainly get 3. 12-13 W's in this stretch would be great, and it appears would meet or exceed most people's expectations.
  2. I really hope this isn't a serious candidate: Rob Jeter
  3. The outpouring of support on Doc's facebook page is simply amazing. Not to many times does a coach get fired and receive that kind of support... especially considering most of those people probably wanted him fired. It really sucks he couldn't pull it off.
  4. Shaka is almost as unreasonable as Brad Stevens. Unfortunately Gregg Marshall is trending that way also. Hearing T.O. say money won't be an issue has me very excited. Honestly, I think I'm changing my mind a little bit on what Tom should look for; I'm starting to think it wouldn't be so terrible to get a big name that will leave in a few years for greener pasture AS LONG AS there is an obvious assistant being groomed to take over. Still not completely sure I'm sold on that idea, but the more I tossed it around today the more I decided it wouldn't be terrible.
  5. 1a - Win 1b - get to a point where you're never below 8th in conference, a legitimate shot winning the conference tourney most years, NCAA tourney every couple years, always at least on the bubble. 2 - Do it without prima donnas. 3 - a token homestate kid every year that sees at least 10 mins a game.
  6. Gumbercules, I'll disagree with today being their best chance. The faced Cal's Ace and All American (at least that's what radio said once, dunno if its correct) Closer. Obviously the ace is done for the series, but the closer could also be as he threw 70+ pitches. This team needs to find consistent pitching, seems like each weekend it's a different guy that comes on and is just gawd-awful.
  7. Lance's heart is in the right place, but if there weren't fans on message boards (and just in general) getting upset, then he would have never been played at NU because we would have an 85 year old coach winning one game a year in front of 100 people in a run down sh*t hole. Angry fans and/or the fear of them is what pushes programs to excellence. You think if Alabama fans didn't care about Ls and Ws they would be the powerhouse they are in football? No.
  8. Man, are you really trying to get a pissing contest started here? My guess is most will see this and ignore it, but if they did decide to join your 'contest', my guess is 2grand wouldn't be jack. Heck, I'm in my 20s and do NOT have a high paying job and I've probably dropped over 2 grand in two years. As for your comment about the baseball team losing, they took a top 25 team to 11 innings. 9 months ago Cal was in the CWS, NU was sitting at home after not even making the CONFERENCE tourney. If that's not trending upward I don't know what is.
  9. In the past we have had a problem with bases loaded and no outs and not scoring any runs. I think this team is still in its learning curve and will start to make progress in this area. I feel like this team has made strides already. Repetition is the name of the game and these guys will get it sooner than later i think. 95 - are those all YOUR trophies? all but the left one. that is my brothers. he couldnt pay the taxidermy bill so i did and hung it on my wall untill he pays me. from left to right this is how they score... 177, 142, 151, 188, 165 Nice. Gotta couple 160s, still trying to break that 170 mark - however I've almost gone exclusively archery now so it's been a little tougher. Do you hunt eastern Nebraska or somewhere else?
  10. If they pick up 3 wins this weekend, that park is going to be PACKED from here on out. People are ready to go crazy
  11. Yeah, I was laying on the sarcasm pretty thick . Realistically, we'll lose by 15 and a press conference will be held Saturday at noon announcing the dismissal of Doc. Presser will be Friday, not Saturday. Otherwise you are spot on. Of course, a win tonight wouldn't surprise me as I could see Doc not going out without a fight.
  12. I'd be thrilled with 3, hoping for 2, afraid it'll be 1.

  14. The thing that surprised me most about the crowd yesterday was the number of college students. Had no idea that many of them would show up for the first game of the year - although many cleared out around the 7th/8th inning as they had apparently just thrown on shorts and tshirts without checking to see if it was really that nice outside. Saw many shiver-ers.
  15. Purdue is better than you are apparently giving them credit for. ECU and WCU are better than the majority of the Big Ten year in and year out. ECU is a really solid win and WCU is a pretty good one also. Purdue was and still is ahead of us in the Big Ten.. We are growing as a team, but still not where we need to be yet. Also, where are you pulling the RPI #s from? *edit* One other thing... Zaga is playing solid ball right now, but their RPI will take a big hit as they go into conference play as ours will also. Cal is going to have to be competitive in the Pac 12 to help our RPI. I said they're good. Just not as good as I had originally thought. They aren't like some of the Texas or aTm teams NU had to play in the Big 12, which is to say if you are an average or slightly above average team (like NU, as I said) you have a chance to beat them.
  16. Absolutely 100% my #1 choice! I don't know if he would come here, but the guy is a super smart coach and would be a splash hire. Let's do everything we can to get him here. the guy is under contract through 2021. no chance at all That's why buy outs are built in to contracts!!! Seriously, keep passing the hat! Good gosh these people don't stop. He's. Not. Coming. He has turned down over half a dozen programs that are better then NU and are willing to spend more money. His AD was almost fired by Nebraska and has said Stevens won't leave for any program unless they're capable of back to back to back NCs. This isn't even a pipe dream. It's an 'I'm not that smart when I'm sober and right now I'm wasted' thought. Sipple said today that Tommy Amaker was a name for Husker fans to watch. He's a coach K guy, has experience in the B1G and just took Harvard to their first NCAA bid since the '40s. He's probably not my first choice, but wouldn't be a bad hire.
  17. Seeing Purdue so high made me take a look at their opponents' schedules. I know longer think as highly of them as I did before. The only good team they played, Maryland, beat them 11-1. After looking at UCONN, Cinci and Notre Dame's schedules... those are not great wins. Purdue is decent, you don't go 8-1 without some talent, but they are most definitely beatable by an average team - which NU seems to be and is improving.
  18. heard the commercial again today, here's what i was originally looking for
  19. This goes to show the difference in coaching between the leagues. Mizzou was constantly a top 4-5 team in the big twelve and Doc always made mikey his bitch
  20. IMO, there is NO way either happens. First of all, Lue can't be a HC because he has not completed his college degree. As for Strickland, you don't hire the guy that has been campaigning for months for your job, and T.O. wouldn't force that awkward situation. Doc's gone. Watching T.O. at those last few games said it all. Not that he's one to ever show emotion even when things are going well, but he was disinterested in the game and spent most his time scoreboard watching, crowd watching, and bench watching. There is so much negativity around this program Tom knows he can't bring Doc back simply because it has become so toxic. As for highlight of Doc's tenure, I really liked shutting down that bitch Beasley after he said he was gonna drop 50 and back-dooring K-State to death, that night was awesome. I also enjoyed that every night you knew you were going to see guys taking charges and hitting the floor after every loose ball. Until this year, that is....
  21. I was going to point out that one poster said 'good win GUYS', then I realized that doesn't exactly clarify baseball or softball, have you seen some of those gals?......
  22. I'll hope for 12-5, more likely 10-7 or 11-6. This team is improving, but they have plenty of bumps left ahead of them I believe. And nothing will keep me from being there tomorrow.
  23. Marc Boehm, as terrible at his job as he is, has seen that happen before (Collier) and should should SHOULD know this time around that no matter how the season ends, you have to make the decision based on more than 3 games.
