  1. Wrong. The DE was going nowhere until Martinez broke the pocket
  2. What in the hell is that Martinez? Just throw it out of bounds. And why did he break the pocket? Blitz was picked up.
  3. Am I the only one who waits until 3 seconds after the whistle blows on every TMart run before cheering? I always look for the ball coming out.
  4. Georgia just looks the part. Seeing EMart get snot bubbled on that crack block is pretty telling.
  5. Jet Sweeps. Remind me how a DT makes a play on the outside like that? Stafford's job was to make those plays and he didn't do it. Watch that clip that I posted. We just have different theories of thought. I believe you win and lose game in the trenches, which your video of RB's not being touched only reinforces. If the safeties responsibility was to stop the run, why weren't they in the box? They were 10-15 yards away doing nothing more than being safeties. We have a real issue on the Dline. A great Dline makes everyone look great, a bad dline can make everyone else look like crap. I know what you are saying. And again I wasnt implying our DL played out of their minds. 1) Just because our safety wasn't in the box doesn't mean his job wasn't to stop the run. His job on the jet sweeps in the video above is to read, react, and make the f'ing play. He did all of those except the third one. 2) Once they had us thinking about the Jet Sweep that was working with regularity because of the terrible angles and poor fundamentals on display that night by our safeties, they began to spread our DL out because we had to account for the outside. It was only then that they were able to slam it between the tackles. They had it perfectly set up as well because they would bring a man in motion as a decoy. I'm not claiming we don't need help on the DLine. I'm simply pointing out that 500 yards on the ground would not have happened if Stafford would have simply made the plays that he is expected to make. He had a terrible game, and now he has a chance to redeem himself for it. I pretty much agree with this. On those sweep plays, with the ball carrier being in a full sprint wide at the snap, tough for a DE to get in the backfield that quickly and force that play wide. I do agree that Stafford took some awful pursuit angles, and sometimes was just simply too slow. Some of the break downs (1:39, for instance), the corner is responsible for locking down the sideline and forcing the play inside, which did not happen. I agree with EZ that a sure tackling set of DBs would have made their share TFLs. I don't even think UW thought they could run this damn play all night to the tune of 500+ yards. The theme of the current state of the D however, is broader in scope. I have no doubt that if Papuchis spreads the DEs out in an attempt to string out the sweep plays, UW just kills us off tackle instead. Never thought I'd say this, but thanks for reposting the CCG 'highlights'. It was educational.
  6. I can appreciate the vernacular of threads like this......but seriously....enough. Yes, it is a game. Just a game. All of us, even the most boring, benign members of this board, have much more consequential things happening in our lives and in the lives of those around us. There are posters on this board, and many others on many different team-affiliated sites, that are over-reactionary and venomous in their responses after a game like this. However, the same things we do when we are upset with this team, are just as ridiculous as what we do when we are enamored with them. There are wars, poverty, starvation, depressions, etc happening in many corners of the world, and yet we organize parties, scream and cheer for twenty-something kids who don't even know who they are in this world....and why? Because they wear our colors and throw, catch, and run with a ball. The same ugly vitriol that shows up after a game like this is born out of the very same rabidness that allows for this program to have with it one of the most loyal and dedicated fanbases in the nation. Yes, it is a game. And those of us that are worth talking to are well aware of that. We don't live our lives in this forum. We come here to be fans, if only for a few minutes a couple times a month. It doesn't define all of who we are. If you are breaking inanimate (hopefully) objects in a fit of rage because of the game, I would advise you to get off this board and seek some sort of treatment that will allow you to manage your anger. And as long as we're creating a multitude of threads to remind ourselves of just how insignificant a game is, let's sticky one of them, and promise to post in it after every game....win or lose.
  7. It is not helmet to helmet It is not above the shoulders. What else needs to said? Go celebrate your 8th win of the season
  8. There it is. We all thought that we'd always have a good to great defense more often than not. Seeing players out of position or getting completely blown off the ball is a systemic issue. It's no longer an isolated problem. Pelini was brought in based on his ability to improve a defense. We have been blown out twice in high profile games, playing in a conference where every team is mediocre and games are known to be low-scoring, vanilla, and uneventful in general. If he can't coach defense, why in hell is he here?
  9. Probably infinitely greater than the chances any SEC team not named Kentucky or Vanderbilt are interested in him
  10. Bielima doesnt do that. He put 80 on Minn not long ago. Classless asshat I think if I was Pelini, I would be more concerned with why I need an opposing coach to call of the dogs in the middle of the 3rd quarter.
  11. If Pelini spends his postgame PC berating the players for lack of execution.......it should be the beginning of the end for him. These are college players. Even the best teams in the NCAA are utilizing 20 year old kids. Execution is never perfect. But good teams....well coached teams.....execute more often than not. Either you have succes by creating an incredibly disciplined team (Stanford), or you live with mistakes because you have the athletes to make up for it (LSU, Alabama, etc) You can't have average athletes and undercoach them.
  12. 3 reasons why this is more embarrassing than the 2001 CU game: -Prime time TV -Wisconsin is a 7-5 team -ummmmm....did I mention Wisconsin is 7-5?
  13. This is really disheartening. I was skeptical that we'd win, but to be humiliated by an exceedingly average team.......speaks volumes about where this program is at.
  14. Everyone talks about our 2nd half comebacks. Maybe we should focus more on our 1st half meltdowns
  15. This defensive series is HUGE. They go down the field and get points....time for shots, cause it's gonna get ugly
