  1. It makes sense when you consider that an ignoramus chiefly concerned with his own glamour profile is calling the shots. These budget proposals are statements, and military gud. space travel gud resonates. Popularizing science is not without its costs, and the abandonment of critical and relevant research particularly in the current climate appears to be on the horizon as a result. I think you're giving the President too much credit on the budget. The whole thing seems like a group effort by the R's to starve the beast.
  2. Did the Republicans pay any kind of a political price for the government shutdown? Ted Cruz certainly didn't. I'm not suggesting that Schumer should go through with his threat but 18 months from now will the voters even care?
  3. It's a dig at CNN as fake news. If it was fake then CNN would be reporting it because they don't report anything factual anymore. Edit: To be clear I think that's complete nonsense.
  4. If he wants to increase funding so they can spend more money on the troops once they're back in the states then I could get behind it. I'd still rather see them make that happen within the existing budget.
  5. That's one of those moments where you just want someone to stop talking because they are embarrassing themselves.
  6. I think this pretty much means the ban in its current form is dead. With the Supreme Court the way it is, I think the best Trump could hope for is a 4-4 ruling which leave this ruling in place. Or he looks for a way to immediately seat Gorsuch.
  7. Hopefully these two tweet storms come through properly. Really interesting stuff. Edit: Doesn't look like it's going to work since both are like 20 tweets long. They're both worth the clicks to get through it.
  8. What everyone else calls "lied"... http://www.cosmopolitan.com/politics/a8674035/kellyanne-conway-bowling-green-massacre-repeat/
  9. Efficiency is something of a red herring when it comes to a power source that requires no fuel. Sure, you'd get more power from the same wind turbine if it had higher efficiencies, but it doesn't change the operational cost. The discussion of work hours strikes me as a problem with the company he worked for. If your employees are normally working 100 hour weeks, then you need 2.5 times more employees. And if they have surge work that can go up to 140 hours per week, then having more employees makes even more sense. Sounds like some former coal workers need training for new jobs.
  10. I think this thread is informative, but here is the real answer back in post #2. How many of Trump's advisors have direct links to the fossil fuel industry, again? Let's not be naive and assume trump is trying to do anything but throw shade at a rival of oil and coal. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Trump has a grudge against wind farms considering what happened in Scotland at his golf resort.
  11. I don't know what posts you ended up getting banned for, but most of what I remember you posting in P&R seemed pretty, maybe hate filled, and inflammatory. It wasn't really apparent that you wanted a discussion, so much as to be pissed of at Republicans. Just guessing but there was a week where he ended nearly every post in P&R by calling Republicans a bunch of Nazis.
  12. I can't personally verify that this happened in today's press conference but it appears to be hilarious/sad and real.
  13. Apparently he's just joined snapchat... I can't wait until he uses the dog face overlay while trashing the Washington Post.
  14. Sure, some people will say they were tricked because they didn't think Trump would do all the things he said during the campaign but for the rest....this is what they want. It wasn't any secret that Trump planned to block Muslims from entering the country if he won. My parents are celebrating these changes and right now it's tough for me to even want to speak to them because of how horrible this all is.
  15. I like Kander a lot and hope he runs in 2020. He's young and pretty outspoken about a lot of things.
  16. I'm just going to quote some random person from reddit because there's no better to say this.
  17. If it's 2.5+ million people it shouldn't be hard to find evidence. It's almost 2% of the votes.
  18. This is George Costanza driving the parents of Susan Ross to the Hamptons to see his house.
  19. Maybe they didn't want to pay the penalty for not signing up?!?!? Or that the replacement might be better than what we currently have.
  20. Is there even a twitter app on Blackberry? Or maybe they don't force them to use Blackberries any longer.
  21. So are thousands of people doing the same thing. If that were true it wouldn't have been all over the news the last two days.
  22. One person standing on a street corner holding up a sign is easy to dismiss and ignore.
  23. I wish it all wasn't such a popularity contest but I understand why it is. That said, wow, what a really poor turnout.
  24. You'd think so. I can think of 20 million other reasons that it probably won't.
