  1. uh, there was a lot more than seven notes for Beethoven to use In any given scale there are 7 distinct notes. There are 12 distinct notes total.
  2. I do, a little. Admit it, it'd be cool to have GameDay in Lincoln. But TX is going to have 2 losses just coming into the game, so it's not looking likely. NOt a life-changer or anything, but still. I bet they'll be in Lincoln for the OSU game next fall, though ... I would still bet that Gameday will come for the Texas game. Next year though I doubt that they come to Lincoln for the Ohio State game because they don't do the same school twice in a row and they will almost certainly be in Wisconsin for Nebraska's Big Ten debut game - the battle of the Big Reds!
  3. I STILL have yet to see a good explanation for how you can be a logical inclusion in the National Championship game when you weren't even the best team in your conference that year. In most normal circumstances goal number 1 is win your conference because without being the best in your conference you can't hope to be the best in the country. Once you have proven yourself best in your conference in a given year, then you might or might not get to worry about proving yourself best in the nation. Winning your conference is in your control. Being National Champion is rarely actually settled on the field and is as much a game of politics as it is a true indication of best in the nation. Always in the past Nebraska has been on the positive end of the political game (playing for best in the nation when you weren't even best in your conference) but if Nebraska ends up undefeated at the end of the year and is still not playing in the championship game due to political considerations I will be curious to see if that causes an attitude shift.
  4. NOOOOOOOO!!! You HAD to mention Northwestern as a spoiler! *wanders off mumbling dark things about the purple kitties*
  5. My best bet would be ND, Missouri, Rutgers and either Pitt or Syracuse. I think that ND is just waiting to see what kind of deal they can get on their next round of negotiations and when they don't get what they want the brass will use the excuse to finally get what they want and join the B10. The thing about ND is that the staff and leadership at the school have wanted to join the B10 for several years now but the alumni/doner backlash has prevented it. At some point the scales will tip to the point that it becomes more financially feasable for them to take the hit on the donations in order to move forward.
  6. To be fair - our O-line was stated as the biggest weakness going into the year. What I couldn't believe was how horrible our special teams play was. Giving them 21 points in the first half off of turnovers and kick returns just made me want to cry. I thought for sure when we came back and tied it that we would pull it out but nope.
  7. Looking at what happened to Cincy last year - it very well might.
  8. Three of the top 10 tailgating schools are in the Big 10 with a few from the Big 12 (including Nebraska) just missing the cut! http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/Tailgating-hot-spots-in-College-football-090710?GT1=39002
  9. Iowa won the 1958 MNC. No. I think they are very pleased with how their program has developed over the last decade or so. At the moment, Iowa is a superior team to Nebraska. They are just really anxious to compete against Nebraska in the Big Ten, and think that they should probably get all their trash talking in quick before Nebraska rebounds. There isn't any "hate" yet. I believe there is a lot of rabble-rousing going on both sides because of the imminence of the upcoming competition and geographic proximity, but I think both sides are really too quick to label each other. Iowa is a vastly different culture from the yuppies in Colorado, and if you really wanted to, you could see this as a respectful-but-heated rivalry, but from what I have seen on Huskerboard, Nebraska's Big 12 habit is to adopt a policy of unregulated hatred of everyone covered by a veil of sanctimony. From what I see, you guys really want them to hate you. It makes you feel good. I bolded the parts that I would 100% agree with! Ferentz really has the team on the right track and while we realize that Nebraska has MUCH more history than we do, our current teams look to be very similar and should lead to some really good games. I just wish that we had been playing for the last 10 years so that we could have padded that W/L record a little bit before you guys started playing solid football again On a completely unrelated note - I just found out that I get to go to the NU/Texas game (and yes I even have an NU shirt to wear!!!) You I like sir To be fair I will be wearing my Iowa hat to go with it Should make me easy to spot with the bright yellow Iowa hat in the middle of the Nebraska section. Thanks for the kind words towards our program Manhatten. Looking forward to the game this year. Hopefully we both make it there unscathed this time. *Wanders off muttering unkind words about Northwestern*

  11. I agree with you. The CU Rivalry was based off the, wanting too be as good as us. Iowa has been plenty good before us and at the same time. But doesn't have as many shinny trophies too show for it. Look for this too become potentially bad. HEY - we have PLENTY of shiny trophies. Cy-Hawk, Heartland, Floyd....
  12. My bad - it was Texas and Oklahoma that went when it wasn't for the MNC game not Texas and Nebraska. eta: Watch out Manhatten - you are halfway to needing to find a Michigan avatar!
  13. I have said it before and I will say it again - there are idiots in all fan bases. I would agree that a successful season for Iowa would be a traditional January 1 bowl game. I say traditional because there are now WAY more January 1 bowl games than there used to be. It used to be you needed a top 4 finish in the Big 10 to play in January and I would consider that a successful season. Does that mean that I don't want more? Absolutely not. I would love to see us get to the MNC game but my opinion of our season does not hinge on that. I also can't say that I would be happy ending up in Detroit for a bowl game. We should do better than simply sliding in to the last available bowl for a Big 10 team. As for the Rose Bowl - you have to keep in mind the Big 10 mind set with tradition. For decades in the Big 10 it was Rose Bowl or bust as the Big 10 didn't allow teams to play in any other bowl. Even when the modern BCS era started the Big 10 and Pac 10 remained separate with the Rose Bowl. "no one outside the big ten gives a crap about the rose bowl and its pompous parade." If that were true then in the years that Texas and Nebraska played in the Rose Bowl they would not have made such a big deal out of the fact that they were getting to go to the ROSE BOWL. Not just some BCS bowl but the ROSE BOWL. It was special. It was cool. It was something that those outside of the Big 10 and Pac 10 rarely got to do and the anticipation was phenomenal.
  14. True that the ER is on the opposite side of the building from the stadium for obvious reasons since they need access to that at all times - but all of the normal Hospital parking that is filled M-F is used for game parking on Saturday. Now given that it is a holiday weekend I would think that they aren't scheduling any elective stuff for that day anyway so maybe it would be do-able. At a minimum I hope that next year gets moved to Friday here in Lincoln. Keep in mind that this whole game on Thanksgiving weekend thing is new to the Big 10 this year which could be causing a lot of wait and see attitude with how things play out.
  15. Dang - didn't even think about that fact. That is true that with all of the medical facilities around the stadium being open on Friday it would probably preclude them from being able to do the game that day. I wonder if we could do it on Fridays in Lincoln but Saturdays in Iowa City to at least get it on Friday half the time. As far as Hawk fans being chirpy in Iowa - the same could be said about some Husker fans in Nebraska. If you live in the other state you just have to have thick skin and know that the local population is always going to be loud and obnoxious about their home team.
  16. I hope you are wrong in how you will be treated. I like to think that most Iowa fans are classier than that.
  17. I will certainly not disagree with you that we got off easy. I for one am very dissapointed that they didn't at least give us Wisconsin on the rotation for the next 2 years. Wisconsin could play Iowa and Nebraska to balance out with Ohio State playing Michigan and Nebraska and then Iowa would have had Wisconsin and Penn State. Would have been much more balanced. On the flip side - as you lose Wisconsin and Ohio State in 13 and 14 we will pick them up so it will flip on the insane crossover part.
  18. Either way works for me. I will be there regardless!
  19. In the Omaha World Herald article interviewing Delaney and Perlman, it was stated several times that the Big 10 was still wanting to take another 12 months. If they only wanted Nebraska then Delaney wouldn't have told Perlman that they were still 12 months out from making a decision. IMO this thing isn't done yet. 2015 to a 9 game conference schedule at the same time that the Big 10 goes to 16? I would be very comfortable placing a bet on that.
  20. They certainly wanted to welcome you to the Big 10 in a big way it appears. Starting with OSU and Wisconsin cross division and ending with Penn State, Michigan and us? Ouch. I have been wanting to play Nebraska ever since I moved to Lincoln! Stop the common opponent comparisons and just settle it on the field! Now I just have to convince my father in law to take me to the game
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5519832 Hopefully this is actually how they will be.
  22. If beer was spilled it must have been an ISU fan posing as an Iowa fan because he was too embarassesd I hold out hope that Iowa and Nebraska play in the Fiesta bowl this year so we can settle it on the field. Being an Iowa fan I do think Iowa would win this year Unfortunately I think Nebraska will have the upper hand next year given who we will lose between this year and next.
  23. I know that myself and many other Iowa fans I know want to play Nebraska every year to settle it on the field. Yes we are fully aware that we could end up just facing an annual beatdown - but given what Ferentz and Pelini have done with their programs I think it will be a good game most years. I know many Nebraska fans look down on Iowa because of the vast difference in our respective overall histories but I am hopefull that the last decade under Ferentz is more indicative of what we are going to be on a yearly basis moving forward into the future. I personally think that we will end up winning about 1/3 over the long term but I would certainly be happy with closer to 50%
  24. Cox in Omaha does but Time Warner in Lincoln does not.
  25. That might be true - but they still answer to their state legislature and if they can make it so that U of T gets the same amount of money while filtering more from the northern schools to other Texas schools you can bet that they will do it.
