I don't think they're done recruiting the position either...

Jersey competition is pretty good, and I am more enamored with his twitch and athletic profile.
-
He's really 6ft 2in but I like his body type. He is similar to Cam Lenhardt in that way. With Jayden, I would get him to 265 and let him play with explosion. Focus more on technique and developing moves.

Haha

This definitely reeks of getting Parker to stop dragging his feet.
-
Also let me make this very clear: I don't know anything about CJ's recruitment. I want him in the class. I am just applying my knowledge and spitballing. I wish he would commit honestly because of peer recruiting and it would create nice momentum for this class on a regional and national level.

In some cases it isn't though. Him being a local guy and a fan of Nebraska also makes this different. The reason I am even bringing this up is because I have seen many scenarios where a coach has to make the tough decision for a kid or light a fire underneath him to understand that it's a business. After so many visits and time, the question becomes, "do you truly know if you want to be here?" or simply "do you want to be here?" A lot of times that Q&A tells both what needs to happen. Regardless of answer, it doesn't mean we stop recruiting. My read is that he's unsure of Nebraska because of the last 7 years but I am perplexed as to why USC or OU considering both are not good on D and heading to new conferences with a ton of question marks. (I live in LA so you don't have to use the sunshine and hot girls reason. I know.) So is it about relationships or wanting to leave the state? If it's about relationships, what are you waiting for? How many times do you need to see practice, your former teammates, DC, etc? But if you want to leave the state, that's fine and there's nothing wrong with that, but that comes with potentially being moved on from. And for the scenario I laid out in the latter portion of the first paragraph, it happens the other way around every day in recruiting. Heck, some of our own players had to check the coaches and find out if they truly wanted them.

They all get pressured in June and July. Nebraska would be foolish to not ask him after his 12th visit to campus or at least get some assurances on where they stand amongst the top 3. They'll keep recruiting him of course but I expect them to go hard on other MLB prospects in the summer.
-
My point is that he has seen Nebraska almost as much as all the commits combined (I'm exaggerating but you get the point). He has visited Nebraska significantly more than the other schools. If he isn't ready to commit to Nebraska after all the OV's to Lincoln and elsewhere, and still wants to drag it out to fall, Nebraska has to go get someone to take his spot. If he commits on signing day, great. I just think that if he isn't sold at this point, Nebraska has to go get their second option. Will they take more LB's anyway? Yes but right now it's looking like mostly OLB's which CJ is not projected to be at this level. I think MLB has to be a major focus for this class, and good ones are harder to find.

There is only a finite amount of time and spots. It isn't that they would stop or lessen their efforts towards him. They just have to reset the scenario and see where they truly stand with him. If he says, " I want to go into the season", then you have to tell him, "we will have to recruit other guys in your position and take them if they want in. Doesn't mean we won't still take you, but you will have competition at your spot within your own class". In Raiola's case, they did move on from him and focused solely on Danny. Raiola came back to them out of the blue.

Full circle now huh?

I agree with ya. I wouldn't stop recruiting him but I would also start focusing my attention on getting a guy to replace him. The longer he drags it out, the more I have to assume he's going elsewhere and I still need that spot filled. I said all of that because I think Nebraska has been very patient with him and understanding of his desire to see other schools. However, Nebraska can't show much more than he has already seen at this point. The staff has a job to do.
-
You're right, I did not. I don't care about offer lists much in Texas because there are so many guys. If he can run and catch, they can make him into a dude.
-
He has visited Nebraska a lot. There are a ton of friends and former teammates on the roster and we are recruiting him the hardest. That said, if I were on the staff I am making the latter part of his next visit about committing. Not in an overly aggressive way, but in a matter of fact fashion. He is really dragging his feet, and at this point his indecisiveness hurts us in recruiting other LB's in his place. I say this because there is a nugget somewhere that he wants to take OV's in the fall too. Just my two cents with it all. Piss or get off the pot at this point.
-
Aren't we splitting hairs here? Don't underestimate a prospect with his ability wanting to be here. I would take that over a high end guy who has only one foot in.
-
It seems to me that he doesn't have a committable offer yet but honestly, I would give him the green light. With that kind of speed, and if you can get him early (S&C) he could get in the rotation next year. That first step is nasty. He reminds of all those WR's Rhule had at Baylor. Those rangy guys at 6ft-6ft 3in that could just run.
-
So is Jacory Barney and Jaylin Lloyd.
-
Not as much as you think. We also have coaches that can speed up a project. I would take Rahim no matter what.
-
Excellent first step and acceleration. Reminds me of the Franklin kid at Oregon.
-
He announced that he's still going to visit other BIG schools and we are getting the last visit. Scheduled for late June.
-
This is the position that will make me feel comfortable about the roster going forward. We have to bring in three legit D-lineman a year no matter the numbers.
-
Playing hard to get is a really interesting move here. If I were him, I would not drag this out to the season.
-
I think he's right.

Just decomitted from ASU and clearly stated that he wants to go out of state. We may be back in the picture.
