  1. Well, your numbers are great and all, but do they tell the entire story Mav? Do they tell 50 percent of the story? No. They don't. They tell 33.3% of the story. The defense was the only thing keeping that team in games. The defense that got no rest, no help from special teams, and had to hold on short fields to keep the games from getting out of hand. If the team had a pulse on offense last year or special teams, those numbers increase big time. I don't care about the opposing offenses so much as I care about our offensive efficiency, finishing out drives, turnovers, and numerous 30 second drives that deplete defenses. Eventually, when the other team gets more possessions, and better starting field position, your numbers cannot trend up. Our defense was pretty salty for all the things it had to endure. My complaints about the guys on the D-line is that they are not good. Ty Robinson is the only exception and he has been ruined by S&C. When he gets to the NFL, they will have him take 35-40 lbs off and you will see the high 4 star player he once was.
  2. Anyone saying the Defense wasn't good last year is insane. The defense was very good, and that is without true difference makers, although I thought Damion was very disruptive. This year is really simple. You have no one on the interior of the line that can play at a very high level. Ty Robinson (and I have said this before) is fat, and has eaten himself out of being explosive at the point of attack. Nash just sucks ( been saying that since he signed). Drew is really small. Wynn has been a bust his entire career, Weaver and Buckley are wastes of scholarships, and Feist is just a glorified back up talent. The D-line has been poorly managed since Frost took over, and I am not a fan of Dawson. I think he is the proven weak link of this staff. He cannot recruit, and Nebraska should always prioritize their line coaches. S&C has failed the lines too. Frost has been shell shocked by our lines being pushed around in 18 that the philosophy has been to put too much mass on those guys so nobody pushes us around. The bad line play exposed the truth about Heinrich which is he can be a liability in an open hole. He just isn't as athletic as you'd want, but good line play would cover up that deficiency. I am not too worried about the secondary, because I think time fixes that spot. Young, talented guys who are eager only get better. I do not know how the d-line issue gets fixed. If Nebraska is to survive somehow this season, the offense is going to have to commit to being like the rest of the BIG, and that is eating up chunks of clock every possession. Limit the other teams snaps like they do to you, and let your defense rest for 20-30 actual minutes. Frost is an idiot and goes against this philosophy and yet it is the one that continues to kick his a$$.
  3. Honestly, I think LSU 19 was so talented and it warrants the discussion. However once that first whistle blows, and we are tracking down their kick returner, the amount of knockout shots would be brutal. LSU's players could not match that intensity. It's just a different game where guys do not have to worry about half the things they did back then. The mindset difference would sway the game quickly.
  4. I don't know if I love his ability in space, but he has elite movement for the box. Size wise he is ready made too. I think he would need a year to learn the system and then could be a long time starter there for us.
  5. He'd be a really good middle linebacker.
  6. Obviously you want every one of your players to have Chubba's mindset. However, even if all things end up equal between he and Casey in practice evaluation, Casey is getting the nod and that's how it should be. Casey is pretty damn good.
  7. Just my opinion. I think he could be a hell of a middle linebacker.
  8. The crapshoot of recruiting... That's very interesting and I appreciate that input. This is something that happens often with HS players. He shows enough where he could be a solid D1 receiver physically. As we know, mentality is another animal. What I like about Decoldest is how we moves, especially with the ball in his hands. He moves like he is looking for the end zone.
  9. I do not think he is a silent commit, and my gut tells me that things waned a bit soon after. If he was pressed to decide today, he comes to Nebraska but I do not think he actually wants to be there, and he will drag it out to find a place he likes more to justify telling Mickey no. That's my gut feeling. I think he is going to turn every rock to stay in the south.
  10. Man, I really like Hartzog too. I think Nebraska went in a stole a dude.
  11. Damn, he certainly looks the part. Maybe I have to reconsider haha. After watching his tape, my only concern is that he had free releases on everything. I would equate that to RB's in HS who have a great O-line and all you see is 80 yard runs.
  12. Rumblings that this has started bad already. Makes you think this is a locker room issue. Let me walk this back just a bit. Nothing is out there floating in terms of specifics, and obviously no confirmation. It could be nothing. My bad guys.
  13. Decoldest Crawford. A lot of people are going with Bonner and I don't see it yet for him. Decoldest is one of the more ready made WRs Nebraska has signed in a while. He reminds me of Stanley Morgan jr but with a little more physical upside, and better separation skills.
  14. They're going to make room for a transfer. I think you're right and my only pushback would be that Mickey has the leverage. He will find another 4 star and get him if he feels you're wasting time.
  15. I do not think Nebraska is going to get Phil, however this is the game you play if he decides to transfer a year or two down the road.
  16. Look for Nebraska to shake this recruitment up a bit. Firmly believe once he leaves, Nebraska will be one of his favorites.
  17. My prediction is that this one shuts down sunday or monday morning for Big Red. This might be the commit that gets a flurry going.
  18. Trending to Nebraska, and he doesn't have until December to make a decision. LSU is moving on and Arkansas doesn't have Mickey. Something should happen sooner than later.
  19. Rumblings suggest he committed and that there are a few other big names who did too or are on the cusp. 4.5 on Nebraska's WR takes for this cycle. Omar and Oliver are for sure leaving after this year and the hope is Trey breaks out and goes pro so that would be three right off the bat. Two will be processed out, and that leaves for 4-5 guys coming in to play.
  20. Things are trending towards Nebraska right now. A crystal ball has been put in by Bruntz, and says he likes what he's hearing. Nebraska apparently put together the best plan for him.
  21. My comment was pretty harsh, and I don't want to reduce the young men to tackling dummies. I apologize for that statement. Mickey is going to bring a lot of guys in, and some will be able to play right away. That is going to put a ton of pressure on the WRs who remain in that room after next year. He doesn't have time for development projects and I think he earns it by who he signs.
  22. Jones Jr and Hardy will be processed out next year. They're tackling dummies until then.
  23. Do not forget about Brody Belt, no matter how much you want to. You will be pleasantly surprised.
