  1. This made me hurt inside. Why would you do that? look what you did, you broke it!
  2. espn link says 4 schools. S and A are very common letters. Odds are that said schools have both letters in their names. Washington Washington State Oregon Oregon State Arizona Arizona State Utah Utah State (Ok Colorado) University of Southern California University of Los Angeles California Stanford That's 7 My guess is USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Stanford Edit: and Texas I'll have you know I spilled beer all over myself.
  3. Well a law can't be illegal by it's nature. But here is what counts as shoving. * Congress began debating the bill before they were presented a draft. * that didn't change when the draft appeared, it was voluminous, opaque, and designed to be as hard to understand as possible. * The bill seemed to spring out the ground. No one knows who actually sat at the computer and typed it. * It was passed with back room deals from the 19th century. * after the unexpected election in MA. they had to abuse a process known as 'reconcilaition' to push it through. * To make it consitutional. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court had to 1. Declare it a 'tax' when the President swore that it was not. 2. Change the American definition 'tax' into something that has no taxable event. Honorable mention: The mandataxelty kicks in after the President's re-election campaign is over. His support among young voters would evaporate if they had to pay up front for the benefits of the law.

  5. If there's no time requirement I'd just pay the $100. My state forced me to attend and 8 hour saturday class. If you want to play hardball, check on Iowa's service of process laws, as well as your own state. In some states you are not legally served until a human touches you with the paper, which is what a traffic cop does when he hands you a ticket. Hence the ones sent in the mail are not legally binding until a human being hands it to you, but then they tack on more fines for avoiding process. But other states will consider you served if it was mailed to your legal address. check the statute of limitations the service of process. In my state the traffic company had 6 months to serve you in person before the ticket expires. So the second time I got flashed, I did not answer the door for 6 months. I also didn't tell anyone that I changed addresses. THat includes deliveries because process server's will dress in brown UPS clothes and hold a package to get you to answer the door. Plan D is to show up and find a reason why the camera was wrong or the yellow light had been short changed. Traffic ct judges dislike people who whine, but they also dislike those cameras. Really though $100 without license points is a bargain the way some states shake you down. I think paying up is the best option. Good luck
  6. I don/t believe that for a second (the Delaney thing, he knows having ND on those schools schedule is a good thing for those schools, especially Purdue and MSU) rumor mills around South Bend do not make motive. Unless of course you have a link or are merely be a smartass (which I could then get behind). No way he'd rather see Purdue play Utah instead of ND. Delaney never said it; we heard in the comments section posted under the articles and on the message boards. It was slightly above conspiracy theory status.
  7. I won't gloat but we're smirking a bit. Only because 5 months ago we heard that Delaney made this contract to squeeze ND off the two conference's schedules. It's probably better for NU and the conference too. Has anyone ever enjoyed a bowl game rematch?
  8. And why not the women's basketball team? The Athletic Director and U President were all culpable. Shouldn't every sport get sanctioned? Maybe some other departments? If the point is to make the school suffer than pick anything that people like. The point is the NCAA sanctions Southern Cal, duh U, et al because if they don't hit the school's football team, the same behavior will start right up again once things quiet down. There's no competitive advantage. And no way Penn St tolerates a sex criminal again. The million$ they'll pay out and the prison sentences some people are going to serve will be the deterrent.
  9. Maybe, But it will be a ban of postseason and loss of schollies. that's it. People just need to forget about the removal of the program. The Big Ten has enough political power(not to mention the 3 OOC opponents) to make the case that schedules and revenue will be ruined without these guys. I strangely agree that the NCAA shouldn't really be involved. Criminal and civil law is for the state of PA and the FBI. The NCAA is to make athletic competition fair. THis has nothing to do with on the field performance. Does anyone really think that there is a danger that this would be repeated but for scholarship penalties?
  10. I think the NCAA will feel compelled to do something so they aren't seen as being insensitive to child rape.
  11. If interested in piling it on http://www.ndnation.com/boards/showpost.php?b=football;pid=333874;d=all
  12. Thoughts on the Navy game? I'm excited for it, more excited than I've been for an ND game in a while. Navy is a well coached team...I think it'll be a good one. A coupple years back I read of how brave it is for a team to schedule Navy in the opener. Something about the stress of preparing for the wishbone all summer and then transitioning back to regular football. We must be so brave While I'm sure that our DC intern will remember what offense Navy runs, I wonder if the air travel and being seen in those shoes will wear on the team. Especially foro ur schedule where Navy is an 'easy' game.
  13. touche. But note the start of the student section on the left.
  14. I wonder if Denard Robinson can run against Bama's D. I hope our 3rd year interim DC Diaco pays close attention to how an expert prepares.
  15. Sparty does that too. You guys are in a lot of trouble this year.
  16. Especially after that royal screwjob they pulled in the Fawz Bowl Fawz Bowl? What the heck? lol The Wiki says that William Peter Blatty wrote the book it was based on. William Peter Blatty of Exorcist fame. And John Williams did the music, a lot of talent came out of that rather silly movie. Although I suspect he wouldn't touch it as there would be death threats if it was made today. As for the OP, the Big10 universities are respected for academics world wide for good undergrads and great research facilities. The only place where people don't seem to respect the midwest is New England because every town has an elite ivy covered red brick liberal arts college that boasts William Howard Taft, William Jennings Bryan, William Tell, whoever.
  17. It looks better on paper than last year. Wiscy, Sparty, Iowa, PSU are classic provencial teams that usually much tougher at home. Sparty is replacing an NFL draft qb. I dunno about Iowa. NW may have the smallest home field advantage and may be outnumbered in their own stadium. UCLA? The football duopoly in California is over, and never actually started.

  19. You didn't see me exploiting the deaths of teenagers to grind a college football axe, and you won't. God help me if I ever responded to an attack on Notre Dame with "Rape victim #8 says hi" because no one else would. But I'll do one moment of narcissism right now. I've never bothered to block anyone in 8 years of the usual message board shouting matches. I just treat the trolls as bugs on the windshield. Thankfully Huskerboard is the cleanest and most interesting sports fan boards I have ever read, that's why I post here despite no connection to NU. And I hope to continue to read, with Mr Muck as the charter member of my ignore list.
  20. "Hypocrite, cast first the beam out of thy own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to take out the mote from thy brother's eye." The football program for the school in your moniker is actively connected with the deaths of students and you are yammering on about other programs 'falls from grace'? Get your own house in order first next time. There's no active connection, whatever that means, just a troll distorting the deaths of two teenagers to satisfy his own hatred. Don't call yourself a man.

  22. Lizzy Seeberg & Declan Sullivan appreciate your concern. Douche You got the hardest Big1 schedule that possibly exist. No Purdue, IU, Zook-led Illinois. Yes @Wisc, Mich, Sparty, @ PSU, and anOSU. Simply put, most of your opps were far above their historical averages.
  23. Has PSU and Ohio State's fall from grace dampened anyone's enthusiasm for this conference? I think I know the answer but will ask anyway.
  24. So WVU doesn't get a chance to expose Clemson? I think that game was a valuable lesson about the line "weak ass big east champion." But all the major bowls on one day, like how they used to do it? I refer you to my annual January post on the old system, fudging a bit for tie ins that don't exist anymore. Cotton Bowl Classic. Baylor vs Alabama SWC vs atlarge Orange Bowl: Oklahoma St. vs Clemson [big8/BigEast/ACC all had tie ins at different times] Sugah Bowl: LSU vs Boise St SEC vs atlarge Fiesta Bowl: West Virginia vs Stanford [big12 or two independents] Rose Bowl: Oregon PAC vs Wisconsin B1g10 [same] Now this produces some awesome combos for the BCSCG a week later.
  25. To the above poster who was focusing on the players, you can't compare a bowl to a playoff. A playoff means you show up in South Bend friday and tour the campus and then play a regular game with consequence on Saturday. That's miles away than spending a week in Scottsdale with accompanying pomp, fanfare and celebration for the final game of the year. I posted elsewhere, is Federal Express going to pay millions for a post season game whereever Miami plays now? Do the players get a gift basket? Does any of that exist for an NCAA tournament invite? I really don't know and Chancellor Pearlman was reasonable to object.
