  1. Catholics love a good drunk... Edit: This was supposed to say drink..Catholics love a good drink, but I think it is just as fitting as I typed it so I will leave it like this. We used to be able to party on weekends right in the dorms and the staff just policed it to make sure it didn't get out of hand. But they had to crack down when the parasites started suing ND for stuff that happened off campus so I don't know what the state of the rules are now.
  2. the scenes were scripted to portray the real mood of the times, but yes the story is quite true. I watch it for the non football scenes because it feels like I'm in college again. Not 100%. For example, Devine wasn't against Rudy like the movie has it, and players didn't offer up their jerseys for Rudy to get a spot in that game. The overall story was true (AFAIK). I think a lot of Huskers find fault with it because it makes it sound like so great that a walk on was actually able to persevere and actually play in a game, while we've had many walk-ons work their way into the starting lineup and contribute heavily, even to championship teams. But Rudy was the one who wrote the story and pushed and prodded to get his story told. btw, I do like the movie, a lot. that's a prime example of adapting stuff for film. It would have been cumbersome to introduce other characters to bring out the opposition to Rudy but it fits to use one of the other known entities. So yeah Devine and Ruttiger's brother had to take the fall on that one. I most liked how Rudy asked the mailman where he could find writer to pitch the script, the author really hated Notre Dame.

  4. I am amazed Solich tried to run the clock out with 6:30 left when he was losing, but it worked.
  5. Well, getting arrested is the career equivalent of a conviction due to skinless employers. Too bad no one has the stones to wait for the facts to come out.
  6. Very true, but if she is a fan of ND I'm sure to have her son play for the Dolden Gomers would be her first choice. Her child playing for her favorite school/team would be a dream come true so she might push and push and push and really try to sale ND more than another parent would. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  7. Then we're probably saying the same thing with different words. Weis's Os are great when the pieces are in place, Florida had no chance last year with missing pieces on the line fs the SEC. There are some programs like Mizzou, Nebraska[especially in the 80s], and Iowa that do a lot with unknown or 3* players. I call that "development" which Weis had no idea about. He could develop QBs and WRs but that was it. I heard that KSU takes a lot of JUCOs which ND doesn't allow. Weis might get some mileage out of that.
  8. C'mon you have bass ackwards. Weis was a great recruiter who got "the type of athlete that Notre Dame can't get." We were flush with 5*s at the skill positions. We had no power running but otherwise the offense was fine and shattered all the our passing records. Weis lost because he couldn't develop the players into tough minded football players. The line could never run block and the pass blocking was inconsistent. The running backs rarely broke a tackle. Clausen would hang onto the ball for 15 seconds before risking his precious TD:int ratio, even if we were behind with during the two minute drill he would prefer to take the sack. We had no true nose tackle and had to convert an LB the last two years [no jucos were allowed]. And the defense couldn't tackle, the backs were slow, and no one really knew who was in charge pf the defense because he kept changing coordinators. The assistants named so far are his old staff members. Ianello is said to be a good recruiter. A few of Weis's old coordinators appear to have been arrested. Weis's offenses are dependent on Brady-like quarterback play. When the other pieces aren't there, such as Florida this year, they stall. If history repeats itself KU will rack up a ton of pass yards and still go 6-6
  9. They still want teams that travel, which must be why the ACC said no to us.
  10. A buddy of mine is a die-hard ND fan, and he told me that he thinks that JW's late offer is bad news to him because it means that ND is anticipating Deontay Greenberry to decommit from ND and commit to USC. Deontay is going no where. This is in response to us missing out on Payton,Darboh, and most likely Abholar. I still believe he will stay with you because we are so late to the game. Hello there. We also missed K Marshall, and are just twiddling thumbs wondering whom Meyer will poach. But the Huskers will eventually get a dose of that too, if they haven't before.
  11. Oh ok. J Dub gets a star up grade and ND coincidentally decides they wanna offer...get tha **** outta here!!! +1. They can back off or I will c**t punt those Golden Domers by their big golden stupid heads. Even though that is anatomically impossible. Only thing I'm worried about is his mom is big Notre Dame fan. Catholics do love that school... Rut roh, Mommy knows best. This won't get any goodwill here but we really really need a stud WR for BK's spread.
  12. And exactly how do you get the fans to take a month long vacation traveling to two to four different locations? Play home games? Would VaTech fans and players rather end their season in Boise or Miami? Problem solved. Exactly, and some school's fans aren't up to fo taking two trips to both a CCG and a bowl
  13. Would he be a jumior next year? No I'm pretty sure the NCAA holds fast to the '4 years and 5 to use them.' His 2010 injury came in week 8 I think.
  14. 07 5* recruit. A lot of promise. 08 redshirt 09 ruptured tendon in knee during WSU garbage time, out for season. 10 tore ACL 11 Fumbleitis. I really hope he has a chance to do well at KU.
  15. Junior Whoppers Combo? He's great at scheming passes. When he has a Tom Brady to develop, an Oline that will give him time, a defense that someone else arranged for him, and no one notices that he won't run the ball on a critical down, then yes he's a genius. That was all done by someone else in New England, KC, and ND 05-06. Florida wasn't going to be good this year so that was that. It appears he isn't satisfied to be known as just an OC and wants to prove he can succeed as a HC.
  16. You should see Weis's first DC Rick Minter, he's in a new job every year.Did you guys still need a DC? I don't know what Kansas was thinking but I don't seem to here anyone accusing them of racism. More important is the rumor that he didn't tell Muschamp, that is very disturbing.
  17. It's kind of fudging to have a playoff but refer to some rounds as "bowls." The sponsors aren't going to want to cough up the same amount of cash and goodies when it isn't the team's last game of the year.
  18. I would like to add the Cotton Bowl back and play a +1 one week after Jan 1st. Can anyone help me with the hypothetical matchups while fudging for the conferences that don't exist anymore? Cotton Bowl Classic. Baylor SWC vs Orange Bowl: Okla St. Big8 vs [big8/BigEast/ACC all had tie ins at different times] Sugah Bowl: LSU SEC vs Fiesta Bowl: ??? vs [big12 or two independents] Rose Bowl: Oregon PAC vs Wisconsin Big10 [same] Was there a system for the 2nd team or just whomever they could get? I'm getting at that you could solve this mishmash and go back to an awesome Jan 1st.
  19. I'm just glad we didn't get a classless coach that bailed on a 12-0 team going into their biggest game of the program's history(probably scared to coach against Urban Meyer). Anyway, Urban thought he could leave for 3 years or so and get the OSU job down the road. With Tress getting fired that timetable was expedited. If he wanted the job then he had to jump. I'm sure if he was guaranteed the job would be available in 2 years then he'd hold off but there was no way we were hiring a two year coach(see Woody,Earle,Coop and Tress) No you hired a classy coach with 30 players arrested and two fake retirements.
  20. So stupid. Welcome to mediocrity among the mid-majors Fresno. He was the best you'll ever get. Everyone remembers the Bush Push and the Rose bowl, but Southern Cal should have lost to Fresno that year. The dogs had a 4th quarter lead, but racked up 5 turnovers and lost by 8.
