  1. If Fisher starts next year I'll eat my hat He might. He could be this year's version of Thorellford. The thought makes me sick to my stomach Perhaps you need a tastier & more digestible hat?
  2. No. He got fired because Pederson is a douche.
  3. What might also be interesting, were somebody so inclined, would be to see if recruiting-class ratings (over a 2-3 year period) correlated to a team's final ranking. We all know that Mack Brown is notoriously unable to ride a top-rated recruiting class to the national championship, but in general, does having a bunch of 4/5-star (prima donnas?) translate into team success? And conversely, are 2/3 star teams doomed to fail?
  4. OT - Bob Newton (1969-79) He must have split time between the pros and UNL during the last 7-8 years.
  5. On the other hand, Coach Devaney did it nearly every game, and he seemed to motivate the players just fine, too. I was going to mention this. Some of these posters would have been calling for Devaney's head as well, I'm sure. Of course, not so much TV back then, and none of this PC b.s. Football was a lot tougher and rougher back then.
  6. I was thinking it was more like a second-to-first throw in baseball. Sidearm and no arc. Unless he tries to go downfield. Then it's like a shotput. All arc.
  7. The rules used to allow that - I remember the refs throwing flags for delay of game (and/or unsportsmanlike) several times in the (distant) past because the crowd got too loud. I guess the rule must have changed somewhere along the line.
  8. For what it's worth, here's what I see - Huskers have the speed, athleticism/talent, depth advantage Badgers have a better passing game, more experience, and a road-grader o-line. I think we have the better defense (though erratic) and a higher performance threshold Badgers probably have the better offense overall, but are probably close to as good as they're going to get. Maybe the biggest advantage we have is that we can platoon both lines. In the 4th Q, that may make a difference. Huge linemen can gas out if they are continually confronted by fresh players on the other side. That being said, I still don't have a good feel for this year's team. We seem to play just well enough to win, but not enough to scare anyone. Maybe that's a good thing, but it doesn't make me very comfortable - yet. I hope this game is competitive, and we manage to pull it off. But even if we don't, I see us getting better all year long, whereas I don't see the same for Wisc. It could be a different story if we meet again in Indy.
  9. Some more potential division names that sound better to me - Homers - Jethros Freaks - Geeks Coyotes - Roadrunners Existentialists - Realists Rock - Rap Tastes Great - Less Filling Innies - Outies Turner - Hooch Windows - Mac Torches - Pitchforks Pie - Cake Heads - Tails Bugs - Daffy Bart - Lisa Fiat Currency - Gold Standard Igor - Igor (Eegor - Eyegor) Cocoa Puffs - Sugar Smacks Ford - Chevy Orthodox - Reformed Illuminati - Freemasons
  10. Where's the "little girl whispering to another little girl" icon?
  11. I don't think he's got the hands to be a receiver. At least not without a lot of work. Also, as noted before, he's not much of a blocker either.
