  1. Frank Solich is the only Nebraska coach that beat Texas.
  2. I don't like this logic... Just like we beat Texas after last years Texas debacle, right? Yeah I guess iowa state has the good athletes that Texas has. Yes, Iowa State doesn't stand a chance. I mean, look. They barely beat Kansas, right? Beating Kansas isn't earth shattering. I wouldn't go getting yourself all excited for nothing and I wouldn't expect the help of 8 turnovers this year. kansas is so bad that their spring game ended with two losses. Did you feel that breeze just overhead?

  4. Nebraska beat Kansas State who beat Iowa State who beat Texas who beat Nebraska who beat Kansas State who...
  5. Regardless of the outcome the Mizzou @ Nebraska game next week, all eyes will be on Ames on November 6th. Two teams that want and need to make a statement in a fight towards the top of the division. At this point, just about anybody could win the North. Nebraska and Mizzou are the obvious contenders, but Iowa State is diving into its North play (minus K-State) with a victory at Texas, and Bill Snyder is too wily to count him out just yet.
  6. God, I hope so. I saw discussion about Mizzou, and I was thinking that was later in the season for you. I must have been thinking about our schedule. At any rate, I most certainly will be back later.
  7. Just a warning, I might go as far as to say Hawkeye fans are worse. Kirk Ferentz is respectful enough, but the fans are just straight up rude.
  8. Yes, yes. Please don't think about Iowa State. Especially since they just put up 50 points for the first time since Seneca Wallace was around. Against Texas Tech, no less. It's just Iowa State, right? Nebraska hasn't lost to them in about nine to seven years. Paul Rhoads would be so proud to have an undefeated record against Bo Pelini and Nebraska. Austen Arnaud's now healthy arm is continuing to improve, finally not throwing any interceptions in a game. Alexander Robinson hasn't had the most impressive numbers so far, but part of that is the addition of two more strong running backs in Shontrelle Johnson (who busted out a 61 yard TD run against TT) and Jeff Woody. Jake Knott and A.J. Klein are proving to be fantastic linebackers, and their stats are backing that up. The Cyclone secondary should be able to handle anything Nebraska throws at them. And did I mention the game is at Jack Trice? Sure, Texas Tech isn't the team it has been in the past, and a shutout against an FCS team isn't entirely impressive. But Nebraska hasn't done that much to prove they were more impressive. In fact, Iowa State would have had 56 against Texas Tech if it weren't for a questionable (although fair) offensive pass interference call. All in all, I would say 56-38 against TT is more impressive than 56-21 against Washington, if only slightly. All I'm saying is that Iowa State has a larger offensive toolbox this year, especially if you're talking about the Jerome Tiller/Jeremiah Schwartz combo Nebraska faced last year, which means if there are weaknesses in the Husker defense, we will likely be able to take advantage. The defense is proving to perform better than many expected with the amount of inexperience with which the squad began the season. And Paul Rhoads will make sure the team keeps improving on both sides of the ball.
  9. He has a good sense of humor, too. Mailbag said this- Larry in Salina, Kansas asks: Does Texas pay you weekly or monthly for your services? DU: Bi-weekly, with per-post bonuses.
  10. It would make more sense for the University of Nebraska to be UN anyway.
  11. Both Broyles and Fuller are on the list. Niles Paul, if you ask me, is a bit overrated because he lets his ego get in the way. Jerrod should definitely be on the list, but I don't know a whole lot about Nwachukwu.
  12. I think the evidence speaks for itself.
  13. This. It was made by Hawkeyes, so odds are they were smashed when they wrote that.
  14. There's a difference between being loyal and being delusional. We could say Iowa State could beat Nebraska if Iowa State had Suh, but that doesn't mean that the statement has any bearing on reality. Have you been reading the thread at all? I'm a Cyclone fan through and through. Hence the name. I've been trying to have an intelligent conversation with another fanbase about my team, where others like yourself have been doing nothing but dancing around, shoving an extremely lucky victory down Nebraska fans' throats, and if you look at the thread, it's doing our reputation no good whatsoever.
  15. Definitely. 38 - 19 Iowa - Iowa State And Iowa is a team that has been nationally relevant for a short time in the 1950s and just in the past decade. Only an average Big Ten team historically. Only 11 Big Ten championships (only 4 of them outright, too). Iowa State and Iowa are but one team of their respective conferences, and you're comparing one of the better Big Ten teams to one of the worst Big XII teams, historically speaking.
  16. Nebraska is more of an independent than part of any conference this year. In fact, Nebraska will likely prove that the Big Ten isn't as strong as people think once you start playing Big Ten games.
  17. now that makes perfect sense.... no matter how much better isu is... even a thousand million times better... NU will still be a much more solid team Dude, just let the goats cross the bridge, you troll. If you're gonna pick a fight, at least know how to say something intelligent.
  18. Iowa-Nebraska is way more exciting than the other two options to anybody not at Iowa State.
  19. Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Colorado, Kansas State, and Kansas are all very winnable games that we have to take. I trust Paul Rhoads to not let us drop them. If we lose one of them, it's Colorado. If Arnaud can throw better (which it sounds like he has been doing better), I like our chances against Texas Tech and Missouri, but not enough to favor us (well, maybe favoring us against Tech if they look bad at the top of the year, but I doubt that). Either of those would be solid wins for the program's reputation, and would be enough to get us bowling (hopefully). Utah is a huge unknown. It sounds like they're rebuilding, but we play them half way through the season, so they should be ready to go. Iowa will be hard, but it's a rivalry game, so it's hard for me to completely write it off as a loss. Arnaud is looking to prove himself after last year's six turnover disaster (lol, sound familiar?). I hope we can beat Nebraska, but I don't at all expect it. I've gone through that already. Not a chance against Oklahoma and Texas unless we can show some serious game at the start of the season. And even then it's a long shot. There's my breakdown. In my book, much of the season hinges on how the receiving corps develops. A successful season will be 7-6 and third in the north. Anything more would be icing on the cake. 5-7 would be acceptable, considering the schedule. Anything less would be a let down.
  20. As far as what it does for our program, winning a bowl game has to be the answer, no matter who it's against. If you're talking about our best display of our team, it would have to be either Army or Baylor. Sure, neither of them are the most amazing teams in the world, but after the game, it was easy to see that Iowa State was the better team on the field that night. Two years ago, it was hard to imagine Iowa State being better than any team worth mentioning. I want to make this clear, I'm not here to argue that Iowa State is better than Nebraska or that we're poised to compete for the North Championship this year (as much as I'd like to believe it), I'm here to argue that Iowa State is better than what some of you guys might think.
  21. You're only giving me more reasons why Nebraska should be more afraid of Iowa State than Colorado, Kansas, and Kansas State. Thanks!
  22. I'm gonna say something controversial. Arnaud > Lee, and A-Rob > Helu. Arnaud by a ton, A-Rob by a bit. I don't know enough about Olines to make a judgement, but I have a sneaking suspicion that some of our guys might be better than yours. On defense, our closest guy would be David Sims, and I don't think he's better. So you are largely correct, but I just had to make those clarifications.
  23. I feel like K-State, Colorado, Kansas, and Iowa State are all at least comparable from an outside perspective, and perhaps because of my bias I think Iowa State is the top of them. Iowa State was going through it's third system in four years, using a mixture of McCarney's and Chizik's recruits. Paul Rhoads was handed a plate with players recruited under two different guys and had to come up with a way to get us wins. For God's sake, he had to teach/reteach fundamentals to many of the players in the spring he came in. With that, we beat Colorado, lost to Kansas State by a blocked PAT (where, if you look at pictures, the blocker was pushing off the back of the guy in front of him), lost to Kansas when they were ranked 16th by an overthrown pass (nothing more than 3 feet), and that includes a terrible day for our kicker Grant Mahoney (there were enough points missed to at least tie it, if not win it), and lost to Missouri by 10 points, where there were two 70ish yard passes to Danario Alexander in 5 minutes or so. Now, I'm not saying we should have won those games, I'm saying that those were some damn close games that could have easily gone the other way (maybe not so much the Missouri game as the other two, but I believe the point still stands with it), and with a little more stability and talent coming in, Iowa State should be expected to be a better team, and therefore stand a better chance to win these games. Don't dismiss Iowa State just because last year's game against Nebraska was a fluke. Believe it or not, we played 12 other games, and the other six wins didn't require nearly as much luck.
  24. That's too much math for them to comprehend. If they can't do it on their toes and fingers, forget about it. Wow... maybe I WILL like the Huskers more when they're in the Big Ten... =P
