  1. Opened at 3.5 and has moved up to 4.5, at least according to the KC Star this morning. Which normally would indicate about $2 mil has been placed on the Huskers (I think it takes a mil to move it 1/2 a point).
  2. I agree 100%, it's just hard to continue to ramp up when the game is a laugher. Not to mention the offense only had, what, 7 snaps in the second quarter? It was a strange game and as we've shown in the past, fumbling is contagious. I expect the coaches to spend a lot of time in the film room this week with the players and the kids won't like what they see/hear. I hope to hell, this was our ISU game for the year, but all in all, it happened at the right time and I really think Bo and the coaches will get it corrected this week. It's all about focusing, mentally, and keeping your head in the game for 4 quarters. The D didn't do it last week and the O didn't do it this week. The D corrected it this week, let's hope the O corrects it in Seattle. I like our chances.
  3. I said it last week as well, this type of game is perfect for Bo and the staff. Last week, Bo was giddy because he had something to be pissed about and hammer home all week to the defense. He now has the same thing this week, with the offense. Last week, the D made mental errors over and over and this week, the O did the same thing. Both the O and D have looked REALLY good at times, but what's held both of them back is the mental side, the concentration level has dropped significantly when the games got out of hand. One thing that Bo has been able to do in his short tenure is take the mistakes made in one game and hammer the point home in the upcoming week and the team responds. Pretty sure the offense got a royal ass chewing after Saturday and ANY mental mistake that happens in practice this week will warrant a semi meltdown from the coaches. Again, Bo is VERY happy where they sit right now. They have looked dominant on BOTH sides of the ball, but he has something to rail on the players over, mental issues, which are more correctable than when you just aren't talented. I have a feeling both sides put it together this week and they absolutely dominate Washington. Historically Bo's teams thrive in road situations against good teams and I expect them to come out this week breathing fire and Martinez will have his coming out party and we flat out roll Washington. I sure hope so anyway. GO BIG RED!
  4. Watson must have been reading my posts when I always say that "He didn't get dumb over night". It's been a tough year or so, but I'm a fan of Watson.
  5. Dang, hope it turns out to be a rumor, that's too bad. With Snyder's work habits and his age, you just can't help to think that's a recipe for disaster. Hope everything is alright and there isn't any validity to it.
  6. Unless KSU finds a QB by then they will not be a factor. Teams with decent DB's will match up one on one on their WR's (who aren't strong either) and stack the box on them. Their QB situation is terrible right now with Coffman.
  7. Good post. People need to realize that losing Compton and Fisher really hurt us from a mental aspect on D. Our problems boiled down to people being in the wrong assignment, not lining up in time and not everyone being on the same page in the second half. You can't throw all the blame on David or Whaley either, up until Thursday, Compton was going to be in there captaining the D. Two days isn't much time to get a guy prepared to be the play caller on D. I have a hunch that the improvement from week 1 to week 2 will be dramatic. There will still be mistakes, but there will be less than last week and we'll continue to improve week to week. This D will still be VERY good.
  8. I don't know if any of you were watching the Royals last night, but they had Corby Jones in the booth for an inning talking about Fox Sports' upcoming football season and stuff. Well, they asked him who he was picking in the North and he said that his heart said to pick MU, but went on to say that it's going to be VERY hard to beat Nebraska. He said that he knows that we hadn't settled on a QB yet, but from what he knows, we would go with Martinez and went on further to rave about him and how great of an athlete he is and blah blah blah. Anyway, I thought it was interesting to hear him talk about him, it sounded like he'd been perusing these forums.
  9. You've seen a depth chart, you've talked to someone who's seen a depth chart, or this is your prediction? Because this looks like about everyone's prediction right now, based on this thread. Now, i hate all this "i have source" crap.. but i trust where the info came from.. please take this info with a grain of salt...but as many others have speculated and it seems that is true, T-mart earned the job. Flip Lee and Green and you are dead on. What I like about starting Martinez in the first game is to avoid what we had with Green last season. He was thrown into the fire and had very little, if any, time to get used to the speed of the game. Putting Martinez in now will give him two games (albeit against crappy teams) to get used to it and settle in a bit. We put Green in a no-win situation last year and I think the coaches learned from it. I believe Martinez will really surprise people this year. He has the best arm, the quickest release, the best throwing motion and is the most athletic of the others. BUT, none of that will mean squat if he gets antsy in the pocket and throws to the wrong colored jersey. Let's hope he'll use these first two games to get the jitters out and be ready for a tough task at hand in Washington. GO BIG RED!!!
  10. Overland Park, KS. Neighbor directly across the street is a Husker fan as well, so it helps me keep my sanity in a city full of hate for the Big Red.
  11. Thanks for posting, I think he hits it on the head, other than Mike Smith was a backup center and really didn't have anything to do with blocking the edges. I look for a similar outcome. I want to see Martinez get in a rhythm and show me that he can hit a pass on a 3 or 5 step drop and not only by running or scrambling. I want to see a WR (or two or three) become a go-to guy on 3rd down, one where Martinez can take his drop and throw to a spot and know that the guy will be there, see Swift/Peterson. Again, thanks for posting!
  12. Very interesting picture on the home page, but does it actually say that the pics reflects the new divisions? Or is it just a bunch of helmets on a table? That pic has been there for a long time, I wouldn't read anything into that. The divisions are set.
  13. We will have quality depth on the DL no doubt about it. I have literally no idea what to expect from the Quarterback position. I am hearing so many different things. I have heard that we may not even see Lee in the first half; that it may be TMart in the first quarter and Cody Green in the second. I believe that is true. From what I understand it's Martinez, Green, Lee, in that order.
  14. Lavonte David and I want to see some WR establish himself as a go-to guy on 3rd down. That's something we were completely missing last year. The year before Ganz had Swift and Peterson as security blankets and you always had confidence on 3rd down that they would find that imaginary yellow line. Kinne seemed to step up to that position last season, late, but I want someone to step up and be Martinez' security blanket in tough situations. GO BIG RED!
  15. Seriously...we're 3 days away from the first game of the season and I'm yet to hear the words "depth chart". Since Bo is playing the 'I know who the QB is' card, the media has been completely distracted from every other position in question. Safety, linebacker, d-tackle, o-tackle....we have no idea how the 2-deep is shaking out. I can't tell if he's enjoying the media control, or if he's just cleverly dangling a carrot. --That was the interesting thing about the Bo Pelini Show the other night. Yes, this QB battle is interesting, but when Pelini was discussing every other position he had ten other spots on the team that weren't officially claimed yet. I mean, how do you take this? Is nobody grabbing this thing by the reins and snatching that starting job? Or is our depth so damn impressive that these starting players could be rotated and remain just as efficient? I have to think its the latter, but it is interesting. It's the way Bo works, he wants the competition and doesn't want to stick the term "starter" to anyone, that's why he's always been so hesitant to hand out blackshirts, he and the coaches and in turn the players thrive off of competition day in and day out. They obviously are set at 99% of the positions and the players know it, but they also know that if they don't bust their tails every day of practice they will be replaced. It's just the way Bo works, it won't change as long as he's here and I'm okay with it. The depth chart is simply for the fans anyway.
  16. From everything I can gather Martinez is the guy right now and getting most of the #1 reps this week and last. I do agree though that you will see all three guys in these first two games and then Washington will get a heavy dose of Martinez, barring any unforeseen gameday jitters that the coaches didn't expect.
  17. Very cool idea, but I'm not a big fan of cluttering up the helmets with stickers. I think our helmets are THE coolest and one of the icons of College Football, don't mess with them.
  18. I think they're waiting for two reasons 1) Bo just doesn't want to tell anybody and 2) telling everybody who the starter is at quarterback means he has to tell everybody who the starters are at every other position. Even though Bo more than likely has an idea who all of his starters are, his philosophy is always competition at every spot. It's counter productive to name a starting line up if you want competition to be at a high level all the time. he could be that he just does not think that it is that big of a deal. maybe he is frustrated with all of the attention on the starting qb, and he manifests his annoyance by just being stubborn and not sharing. on they other hand, i really am starting to think that it will be t-mart. he seems to be saying certain things that are showing his hand. for instance; if LEE will be the starter it would not be distracting to him, he has been there, and there would not be a circus, he is the incumbent. if t-mart is the starter, there will be a circus and it would be distracting to a young and fresh guy. who knows. on the last hand, if BO knows it is LEE, but he does not say, t-mart could believe that he has a chance and will do his reps at 110%, which may accelerate his development. it may be strategy to keep the 3 qbs heads in it. i do not know, and i really do not care anymore. i am too excited just to watch them play and the season to start. Bo shouldn't be frustrated with the attention the story has gotten, that's part of not naming a starting QB until the PA announcer announces his name as he runs on the field. If he would have announced last week (which I find it hard to believe they didn't know then), the attention would have died down and would have been over with prior to game week. I've said all along that if the race is even remotely close between these guys, T-Mart or Green will get the call just because that's the obvious direction they are going with the offense. They want a guy with gamebreaking speed back there, which leads me to lay my money on Martinez. That and all the smoke coming from the "insiders" I'll be very surprised if anyone but #3 trots out for the first snap on Saturday.
  19. ZERO % chance of this. The sarcasm in the past few posts is pretty thick.
  20. Yeah, if you watched the practice video on Huskers.com a week or so ago, you got a sneak peak at them. They very much have an old school look to them and they look very cool. Much better than the urine stained shoulder stripes that we ran out there last year, that's for sure, YUK!
  21. I agree, I think the team will be up for this game just as much as the UT game. They were destroyed the last time they came to town from whistle to whistle, then Fatty McDaniel rubbed salt in the wound by making up a story about Suh spitting on him, just to disgrace us more. Of ALL the games on the schedule, this one has revenge written all over it. MU fan is confident that without the rain and without Suh tearing up Gabbert's ankle they would have been playing UT last year in the championship game. I believe we pound MU in Lincoln, the spread is dead, it's a non factor against Pelini's D. Misery can't throw enough inside WR screens to win this one. I think our toss up games are Washington, UT and A&M, if we win 1 or 2 of those 3, we'll be in great shape.
  22. The trouble with picks like Suh is he was regarded by most as the top player overall in the draft, but wasn't selected first due to a roster need by the #1 team. So, I'm sure his agent is working that angle and doesn't want to be slotted behind a guy that his client was better than. It happens with at least one player every year. Suh will get to camp soon and I'm sure he's not going to show up out of shape like some do when they hold out.
  23. This is a joke right? I thought those were last years picks????? He still is a jerk Those were his picks from last year, but I'm sure this year will be similar, with the exception of dropping NU to last I'm sure. KK and DeArmond are the biggest jokes in the KC media, which is saying something.
