  1. It seems like this year its more about who've you lost to rather then who've you beaten. We have more impressive wins then Stanford and Wisconsin, but we're ranked behind them. We've beaten Missouri and Oklahoma State, a top 16 team and a top 10 team. But our loss to Texas is what is keeping us behind Stanford and Wisconsin, who lost to Oregon and Michigan State.
  2. And Illinois vs. Northwestern does? Your logic is flawed. Both Neb and aTm will be ranked and it should be a great game. Can't say the same for Illinois/Northwestern. He didn't say it did. They're going to Chicago because of the historic factor Exactly. What I said was, since Neb-AM has no national title implications, and there aren't many other big games next weekend, theyre going to a place of historical venue. My logic is not flawed, your reading ability is.
  3. The game is at Wrigley Field. Nebraska- A&M is a very big game, but the game really has no National Title implications. If Nebraska was undefeated, gameday might be in Texas this weekend. However, since the game only really matters on a Big 12 stage, Gameday is going to a very historic place that hasn't had a football game played their in over 60 years I think.
  4. Oklahoma State is at worst #10. Kansas State and Texas A&M are both in the top 25. Missouri is #17. That is all HUGE for us as far as the national championship is concerned. As of right now we have beaten 3 of the teams ranked in the top 25, with a chance for it to be 5 once the season concludes.
  5. If we win out, the only teams that should make the MNC before us would be Auburn and Oregon if they win out. TCU and Boise State are good teams, but come one, we would go undefeated and look amazing doing it with their schedules. If we win out, we will have beaten 3 top 15 teams- Missouri, @Oklahoma State, and either OSU or OU in the Big 12 Championship game. We will also have beaten another top 25 team on the road in A&M.
  6. I disagree about us losing to OSU if we were to play them again. We made a ton of mistakes on defense in that game, and I think Bo and Co. will have the defense ready if we were to play them again.
  7. Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if LSU jumped us. Let's say LSU does jump us and wins out. Auburn wins out but loses in the CCG. Could we have a repeat of 2001 with a team that doesn't win their conference going to the MNC? It could happen.
  8. When you're playing on the road with your third string QB and you're missing one of your best defenders, Ill take a win any way I can get it. Hopefully the voters don't just look at the box score and move us down because we almost lost.
  9. Its high school football. For all we know most of those picks could be the fault of the receiver- running the wrong route, tipping the ball, etc. Judging a passing QB in high school is more about form, arm strength, pocket presence, etc. Not about statistics. And Turner and Bubba do more then passing.
  10. If Martinez is ready to go and there is no risk of further injury by playing, then he should play. If its still sore and he could worsen it by playing on it, then he shouldnt play.
  11. My point was that Texas was in the National Championship game last year, top 5 recruiting classes usually= success on the field. Its not like we lost to a team full of 2 star players with no NFL prospects or anything. A lot of Texas' players are very highly regarded and talented.
  12. A lot of people are forgetting the fact that Texas is LOADED with 4 and 5 star players- its not like they don't have talent. This game was hyped up so much by everyone at Nebraska, we all knew Texas would come to play, and if they were going to live up to their preseason expectations, it would be that game. Mack Brown is regarded as one of the top coaches in the country, Texas is regarded as one of the top programs in the country, and in the preseason, they were regarded as one of the top teams in the country. Yes, theyre not living up to expectations this year, but I don't see why everyone is saying this is such a bad loss. Theyre Texas, we're Nebraska, theyre gonna play their best when they play us. We played horribly, they played their best game of the year. Its not like we got blown out at home by freaking Kansas.
  13. We're at the point defensively where we just reload, not rebuild. Obviously our d-line is not as good as it was last year, but that will happen once in a while when you lose one of the best DTs to ever play the game. Now, our d-line is just one of the top 2-3 in the conference, not the country like it was last year.
  14. Hes lucky he didnt fumble when Santana Moss hit him. Celebrating before he got into the endzone, come on Suh, you're better then that.
  15. The chances of it happening are very slim, but what we absolutely need to happen is that either Auburn or Alabama lose in the SEC championship game. If that happens, we could potentially be the highest ranked 1 loss team with a victory in the CCG, and could possibly jump Boise/TCU/Utah in the BCS.
  16. Thats a solid tackle I dont see what else Osborne could have done. He kept his head up.
  17. HHelu is a flat out stud. The bigger the game the better he plays. I'll miss him next year. Thankfully we're LOADED at the RB position.
  18. That makes sense. 5 offensive lineman + a tight end/fullback/running back will get 5 or 6 of those six guys in the box blocked. When you add in the 7th man it just makes it harder for T-Magic to have space to operate and theres probably going to be a free man that isnt blocked.
  19. Matt Barkley is actually having a very good year and does deserve to be on this list. 1869 yds, 20 tds and a rating of 167.30. Landry Jones has thrown for over 2000 yds and 17 tds. Ricky Stanzi has thrown for 1700 yds and 16 tds and only 2 interceptions. All three deserve to be on that list.
  20. Usually the home team is given 6 points so basically Vegas is saying that this game is a push, and I would agree. The line might change a little bit but probably not more then 1 point or so either way.
  21. Taylor Martinez can throw the ball when given time. Our run defense needs to get a lot better. Our team can rebound well from a loss, hopefully this will be the only time the rest of the year we have to do that.
  22. Thats how you respond on the road playing a top 15 team. Do not allow anything in these last 50 seconds. We get the ball coming out of the half, get another score and I have a feeling our defense will play much better in the second half.
  23. If we lose, which we won't (Our number 1 pass defense will dominate the game, force a couple TOs), then we hope Missouri loses to Oklahoma. If Mizzou and us lose, we still control our own destiny in the North.
  24. I dont think Taylor will ever become a pass first quarterback. Hes just too fast and too good running the ball. By his junior or senior year he should be an above average passer and should throw consistently for 160-200 yards a game, but hes not going to be a 25-30 attempt quarterback.
  25. Very slim but still possible. If Oklahoma wins out and can get to #1 in the country, and we can win out and possibly get to 4-5 by the Big 12 Championship, a dominating performance in that game could propel us over an undefeated Boise or TCU. But there are still a lot of teams ahead of us.
