  1. The only thing that was predictable about the offense is that eventually they were going to self destruct (Penalties, Dropped Passes and fumbles). From the Northwestern game forward, they moved the ball on every team they played. Your analysis of a 'good offense'(be able to spring the i-back for some long yards) tells me you missed the BCS National Championship game yesterday.
  2. My use of the 'diamond formation' reference was sarcastic. That was the recurring theme this year when the offense didn't work. More often then not I would read 'we need more diamond' instead of we need to stop making mistakes.
  3. I believe Beck's offense with the right game manager will be electric. Is this guy the guy...who knows. I think that Taylor has made a ton of improvement this year, but I like that they are going after a different type of QB. We'll see!
  4. That's really my point. I hate to sound like Bo with the coach speak, but they are excuting.
  5. I understand that many are not watching football tonight because the Huskers aren’t playing. I think the amateur offensive coordinators out there might be able to catch a few things from this BCS game. For those that have commented that Beck passes too much, doesn’t run enough diamond, gets away from what is working and blah blah blah, I hope you watched the first half. The #14 rushing offense in the country has abandoned the rush because guess what…it’s not there. They have to throw the ball. They are taking what the defense is giving them. 42 total plays with 25 of them being passes. So far, I can only recall one rush on first down by Alabama. The play action pass is opening up the run....hmmmmm. The big difference is the QB play has been consistent and the receivers are catching the ball. Oh yeah….No stupid penalties either.
  6. Well done Sam. The first two comments on the story look like Huskerboard. I've stated in multiple threads over the last few months. I think the next 2 years will show if Bo is going to build an elite program. He has made some errors in coaching, staff selections, recruiting and talent development. The true test of his leadership will be to see if he has learned for his mistakes. I'm very optimistic that he has. I tend to agree with the following:
  7. I'm not commenting on Nicks, just the whole 'HS' or 'JC' thing in general. It's ignorant and it looks ridiculous. This has been going on for years and I'm surprised the NFL, a company that has done an outstanding job protecting their brand image, hasn't put a stop a to it. It was kind of cute about 7 years ago, but now it's just plain stupid. It's amateur and reminds of something you would see in the NBA. The league that is about individuals always trying to one up each other.
  8. Who cares....?Honestly. This is the thing to do and I think it makes them all look like ignorant children when they say their high school or JC. This has been going on for years so they can all stop trying make a statement. Didn't Pelini tell him to take a hike because he was a punk?
  9. 7 Schools from 3 different conferences have played for the national championship during Bo's tenure. Looks like there are over a hundred programs that are 'abject failures'. These coaches are pathetic.
  10. I haven't heard anything my wife has said in the last 10 years, let alone her take on the Huskers.
  11. If I was taking a beating this severe, I would go hide. The fact that you continue to post says something. Hang in there Glass Joe.
  12. "People" are stupid. "People" are the lowest common denominator. "People" will eat a sh#t sandwich and smile if it diverts them from their daily lives. Writing to please "people" is why we have tabloid journalism rather than actual news today. It's why ESPN is rabidly consumed by the masses as if it's real sports information. Journalists are supposed to be like offensive linemen - you either never know their name, or you learn their name because they are 1) Superlative at their job, or 2) they are horrendous at their job. We have examples of both in Nebraska sports journalism. I can guarantee you that nobody who fits description #1 is going to write the alleged article coming out. These people are riding unicorns over rainbows......They don't exist anymore.
  13. I am kind of mixed on this. For me it is similar to everyone saying that the non sports media 'leans left'. They write this crap because it is what people want.
  14. CatusboyOG, You have done an excellent job 'grandstanding' the total ignorance that has been put forth on Huskerboard since the Cap 1 bowl loss. I can only hope that this epic failure does something to bring a little more reason out of the rest of us. Thanks for the laugh.
  15. Is it really that inconceivable that we start trying to fill the team with more Burkheads? I know I will get heat, but let's look at it. I know it sounds a little hokie and simple, but why not? I heard first hand that no one works harder in the weightroom then him. I'm sure that translates to other areas. I've also read excerpts of Jason Peter talking about Grant Wistrom's freshman year. I know I just talked about two Husker legends, but right now I think it may be as much about mindset as ability. I have seen several times where Bo has indicated they want to recruit from programs were the kids know how to win. Maybe those kids just expect to win. Maybe we should go after kids that want to win. Just a thought.
  16. There is another thread that is calling these comments unacceptable.....FYI. edit...looks like they just were merged...... For what it's worth. When I was a member of a national power (non DI program) we received very similar lashing. Although it wasn't public, we were told to stop thinking that were the same team as previous players. We hadn't accomplished what they had and we needed to work harder. I find Rayond's comments interesting and may be telling about what is actually going on.
  17. I'm not do going to step out on a limb and say that I am proficient in DL technique, but I think it is a difference of athletes and not coaching. They are flat out slow. I have only seen two guys all year that have been able to make individual plays and that's Eric Martin and Baker. That being said, their 'bigger' plays are few an far between. The part that I think people lose of sight of is that this didn't just happen in 2011. Hagg-Gomes-David are not there to sweep the field once the first level has been cleared. There was no pressure last year either. I would be surprised if Pelini attempts to run the same scheme that he has the past two years in 2012.
  18. Just trying to take some focus off the bitchfest back and forth between the two sects. Nevermind, maybe eating boogers is more common than I think. In that case, I'm with you....sorry.
  19. You cannot be serious. Yes, I am. You can ask the defenses that he plays against. 90% of the time, it is really hard to tell who has the ball. I still think Burkhead runs the zone read from the QB spot better than anyone we have.
  20. Alshon looked faster off the line - 10 yd dash Dennard looked (to me) to be able to catch him - 40 yd dash
