  1. Go back to sleep, then take your meds before touching the keyboard. Once you acquire some semblance of coherence, do a search on oil spills (the subject of concern in this thread). To make it easier on you, the link below is one such search: http://search.yahoo....-8&fr=yfp-t-471 While I find your research intriguing (typing oil spill into Yahoo), I was looking for a little bit more than that. I'm of the opinion that comparing the Deep Water Horizon to Keystone XL is much like Fukisima to Fort Calhoun. Get some sleep and take med, typing oil spill into yahoo......ignorant. I rest my case. Maybe an article like this may be more appropriate. http://www.adn.com/2010/05/28/1298543/alyeska-awaits-federal-ok-to-restart.html
  2. And this is where alot of people are wrong. The safety measures to prevent leaks for pipelines are taken very seriously. The DOT and EPA do audits continuously to see if companies are maintaining the correct measures for keeping the pipelines safe. Pipeline companies also have to run tools that moniter and detect any defects that have occured on the pipeline. These defects are then reported to the DOT and determined what the seriousness of it is and the measurements to repairing it. In all honesty, a semi hauling oil has a better chance of having a leak then a pipeline does. Sorry, I don't believe that. Their past history shows me that I should not. Past history with what? Obama is a pipeline engineer now? Regardless of what your opinion of this issue, this is a prime example of two 'ignorant' posts. Provide some info! That's why I enjoy this forum. Frankly, I think your recent arrival in the forum has really dragged it down. You have an opinion on everything and rarely have any information or explanation. I rarely agree with Knapp or Carlfense, but they do a pretty solid job of atleast explaining their stance. If you don't agree with the pipeline that's fine...just say it and move on.
  3. I find it interesting that a relatively conserative state like Nebraska would probably be very supportive of drilling in Alaska. But has a far different outlook when it comes to a transport pipeline.
  4. You made a classless thread that got deleted about an hour before you made this one. Mods got to it pretty quick. I doubt 25 people saw it. Learn from your mistake and move on.
  5. I hadn't thought about it, but that is what will happen. I wonder how long it will be.
  6. C'mon. One of the richest women in the world acting like she cares about the poor. It is documented over and over how she blew tax payer money as speaker and she won't even address the latest questions about a credit card IPO she was involved in. She has business ventures that employ thousands and none or her employees are in a union. Maybe princess isn't the right term. I would agree that he probably should step a little more softly. Cain is a victim of headlines. There is rarely any substance in the AP & Reuters rags. Obviously, that is an opinion.
  7. Watching Perry forget part of his talking points yesterday got me to thinking. What's the big deal? I'm not a Perry supporter, but nearly every news outlet is calling it a meltdown. Obama gets bagged for reading a teleprompter. Who cares? The fact that this is a popularity contest is the only reason stuff like this matters.
  8. I don't necessarily agree with this. A very discreet show of support would be more than adequate. Doing anything to draw that much attention can be taken the wrong way. Right or wrong; to me part of the problem is lumping these tragic events together with this game. It is purely coincidental that NU is playing PSU during this tumultuous time. PSU needs to heal granted. Support the victims first and foremost. Attempt to understand and be empathetic to those struggling to comprehend how people they trusted could have allowed this to happen. It is a sad state of affairs all the way around no doubt. Lets not feed the media circus this has turned into. They will not postpone or cancel this game so our team has to play and move on. Pray for the victims and do whatever they can if so inclined; I just don't think this game should be used by NU as a way to make a statement about the events surrounding it. Just to add. College football, specifically Penn State, is walking on egg shells right. How about they show up the same way they always would. Play hard, with respect and honor....then leave. There is far too much going on for us to get involved in anyway whatsoever.
  9. I have tried to understand this situation and wondered what I would do if I was a 22 year old GA just getting started. As unfortunate as this may sound, it doesn't surprise me that he didn't step in. Then I find out he was 28???????????and he called his dad. Completely unacceptable. Needs to go.
  10. start there...I'll get more as needed. http://www.huffingto...o_n_546026.html http://www.opensecre...sts-charli.html http://www.techdirt....-lobbyist.shtml
  11. Support the troops... except when they turn out to have liberal ideals. Throw out 'catch phrases' and don't explain what the hell you are even talking about. Thanks Tommy Boy.
  12. Well not a single person besides JP even slightly raises their voice....and considering he's the professional... Right there is the rub he is a professional. We shouldn't have professional politicians!! The intent of the founding fathers was for citizens to GIVE fours years (or six) of their lives to the country and then go back to their original profession. Many politicians see the job as a lifetime gig and stick the taxpayer with more and more frills as their power grows with each election. That is why I think a major fix to this country would be to have term limits. Many people saw the dangers of one person staying in the white house for an extended period of time. Well, the same thing could be said for congress!! One of the best results of term limits would be the limited influence lobbyists would have over the congress. They couldn't cozy up to a politician they knew was going to win because he had been there for twenty years. Yeah . . . none of the founding fathers were career politicians. I love the broad "well the founders wanted this" arguments that are completely unsupported by history and reality. And I would wholeheartedly disagree with your last paragraph. One of the most powerful weapons utilized by lobbyists is to guarantee a politician a cushy job when he leaves office. How much more powerful is that weapon when the politician MUST retire on a certain date? That's a fact boys and girls.
  13. I read the title and what you wrote is exactly what I would have written with only one addition. We have developed a culture that 'wants to see people fail'. I call it a reality show culture. The media feeds off of it because they know we crave the flaws of others. It really doesn't have anything to do with college athletics in my opinion.
  14. This is going to be an awkward game. I don't see how PSU ever has their heads in this game after this circus.
  15. Sure seems like an ass, but I am curious what lead up to this. I'm sure this discussion started well before the clip. Business responds to the government policies......or does business write government policy (lobbyist).
  16. You do know that there have been numerous people who have, unfortunately, been the victim of harassment at two different jobs, right? The fact that she complained at back-to-back jobs shouldn't cloud your impression of her complaint against Cain. There's a little more to it than that knapp. Read the article. Can't recall details...c'mon.
  17. Shakedown....continued. http://news.yahoo.com/ap-exclusive-accuser-filed-complaint-next-job-080946066.html
  18. Welcome to Huskerboardepedia. This blows.

  19. The one that wants to talk (the one who wants more money) filed the claim shortly after he resigned. I'm sure Gloria Alred is beating down her door right now. The NRA settled which may or may not indicate anything. $35,000 or go to court, I guess that would be their call. I've seen it go both ways. This is far too predictable guys. Why do so many fall for it? No recourse for the accused. http://www.bloomberg...yee-bialek.html
  20. Did you even watch the video? That dude is drunk or on something. He slurring and seems to be a little slow. He appears to be the only person that is standing up to a police line. That being said, he probably isn't listening to what he is being told to do. I can't speak for the severity of a spleen injury, but I can imagine if you're resisting arrest it isn't that unthinkable. I had a teammate in high school that ruptured a spleen while blocking someone. Logically, straight out of KETV 7 playbook, they find a friend that tells you how great of a guy he is. KETV always finds the friend/family of a young gangbanger/dope slinger that was just on the verge of turning his life around before he got blasted. I'm not comparing a war vet to a drug dealer, so don't make this something it isn't. I wish people would stop throwing around the war veteran card like it somehow gives you the right to act like an ass. (http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/55262-1-marine-vs-30-cops/)
