  1. It should also be mentioned that Ohio whooped up on Marshall something like 44-7 when they wore the black jerseys. Obviously it happened because not only do black jerseys make you look slimmer, but they actually make you more streamlined so you can run faster and become harder to tackle. That's why I painted flames on my car. Added about 75 hp.
  2. Really? He seems to be doing quite well if you ask me. He is improving on ball security, decision making and his passing accuracy. There is still much work to be done of course. I don't think Frazier, Frost or Crouch were as good as Martinez at this point, but still people complain about him. Please go back and watch some video of Frazier during his Fresh and Soph years...did you forget all of those low passes into the ground? How was Frazier's long passing game? Martinez will be mentioned as one of Nebraska's great QB's when all is said and done. I would take 100 Frazier passes thrown low into the ground before one of Martinez's up for grabs rainbows. There was a reason Frazier threw low, so only one man could get it. Now with that said, lets (including me) stop comparing Martinez to Frazier, Frost, and Crouch. It's a totally different game today. I think Martinez is a tremendous athlete with loads of potential, just not at QB. Nobody is rooting for the young man as hard as I am, but I gotta call 'em like I see 'em, and I think we can do better at the QB position.
  3. The difference being that Frazier only had to throw the ball 5-10 times a game a lot of times. Martinez is required to throw 15-30 times. Martinez is no where near the runner that Frazier was either. Martinez can explode in the open field, but Frazier could slice apart defenses and run through traffic.
  4. I've been on of Martinez's biggest defenders, but honestly, he is not a QB. He shotputs the football when he throws it. He is the guy for this year because we don't have anyone else. Brion and Kellogg are not ready or any better. If Starling had chosen to stay, we would have a full blown controversy on our hands. If I were Bo, I would go to the JUCO ranks for the next 1-3 years until they can get Armstrong or another incoming freshmen ready. We need to bring in a dedicated QB coach as well.
  5. Why? Mizzou doesn't bring anything valuable to the table. Better off with Kansas. At least you get basketball with KU. This conference shuffle has never been about basketball. I know. The point is that at least KU has basketball. I believe Mizzou and KU are on the same level football wise.

  7. Pelini for coaching a 60 min game in 45 min.
  8. Yea were gonna lose sleep over preseason polls.
  9. The ShaggyBevo boards are blowing up with the idea that UT and ND will form a new conference together. Chip Brown had an article stating like it's a done deal. These guys arrogance has reached an unbelievable level. I can't wait until they are Independent and struggling to schedule games in October and November.
  10. I have a gut feeling it's Auburn. I was listening to Paul Finebaum's show on Sirius last Friday and they seemed to know a story of some kind is about to break. Nobody said what it was publicly, but the call-ins were definitely spooked about something big.
  11. Nobody in the Big Ten wants to see tOSU get the Death Penalty. It would hurt the conference just as much as tOSU.
  12. if I may, OSU prides itself on self-reporting transgressions, before the story broke, OSU had already self-reported something like a month before that. Now the Tressel thing is a different ballgame, but as soon as he told OSU he lied, again OSU self-reported. There are several big time programs that have fought the NCAAA tooth and nail and I won't name them b/c you are already aware of them, but do remember OSU self-reports more infractions than any other school in the NCAA (not b/c they have more than anyone, rather they have the largest athletic department in the country--more varsity teams than any other school). Yes they self-reported it, but they didn't punish the offenders. It's not enough to just report it. When they found out Tressel lied, they should have fired him on the spot instead of taking the NCAA's role and suspending him for 2 or 3 games (can't remember). Also, when Tressel found out, he should have passed the info onto the compliance department and they should have kicked the players involved out of school. That may seem kinda harsh, but every student on every campus has a standard of ethics to live up to, and if these were regular students trading school issued materials for tats, they would've been gone long ago. Another couple of quick thoughts I have about this mess. 1. Am I the only one that thinks Tressel just fell on the sword for Gene Smith and Gordon Gee? 2. If tOSU was in the SEC, would we even know about this yet?
  13. If he chooses baseball he won't be back. Two reasons, 1. He's not a bust, he is baseball phenom, 2. We're not in the ACC. B1G defenses hurt. This guy is to KC what Joe Mauer was to the Twin Cities. I'd say its about 90-10 in favor of baseball.
  14. I think we're fine. As long as you self-report and punish offenders I don't think the NCAA will actually care. They have bigger fish to fry. tOSU and Sweater Vest would have been fine if they would have cooperated and punished the players involved. There is no way you can expect the schools and coaches to keep these kids out of trouble. I seriously doubt the B1G would have considered us if we had a compliance problem.
  15. my thoughts i wonder where this neutral site would be? If the Vikings get a new stadium by the time the proposed game rolls around, the Twin Cities could be a viable option. Arizona Cardinal's stadium perhaps? Seattle? Just throwing some ideas out there. I really don't want to give Dallas another game. Chicago, Indianapolis, or even Green Bay could be options as well.
  16. I agree totally dude. I only go once every 2-4 years so i don't mind paying premium price to be part of the atmosphere. I just bought tickets to the @Minnesota Game this year and payed a good penny for them, But I live in Minnesota and have been waiting for NU to play the Gophers for a long time. If I attended more games I would lower my price range, but I go when I can.
  17. Just curious to see what's the most you would pay to see a game either home or away. I think $150 would be my limit for the average game possibly 200 for a big game (Wisc, tOSU)
  18. Okay so let's say hypothetically he gets 3mil. And that's gonna have to be a bigger market team to give him that because smaller market teams can't pay that right now. I believe he is being looked at primarily as a pitcher/outfield prospect. But here's the catch, your not being drafted to the MLB. Your being drafted into their farm system. It's a 3-5 year wait before your playing in the Majors, if you even make it. Now, if (God Forbid) he does get injured, teams will likely sever ties with him and all expenses are on him after that point. Rehab? Training? Agents?(Especially Boras) that stuff costs millions of dollars. Now the other option, go to college on scholarship. Still plays two sports. If he gets injured here you know Bo and the University will take care of all medical expense. Case in point - Blake Lawrence. The smart decision is school. Always is. But I don't think we will ever see him in a Husker uniform. With Boras as his agent, the odds are overwhelmingly in MLB's favor. But I think his decision will be swayed by which team drafts him. Small market teams pay small market money. P.S. I would be okay with him going to the Twins. They need the help lol.
  19. 2-3 mil doesn't go very far if you blow a knee or need tommy john. Not to mention living expenses in some baseball cities. If someone else is willing to pay for your education you let them. He should take a lesson from guys like Suh & Amukamara. Both could have been first rounders as juniors but elected to finish school. Get the education, and let whatever happens in sports happen. It's a pretty good life when a Bachelor's Degree is your backup plan.
  20. Maybe I'm alone on this, but I also like playing on Thursday nights. Everyone seems to be a little more fired up.
  21. Hell yeah man. Plus if the crowd had a towel/homer hanky thing to wave around it would be really disorientating for opposing teams.
  22. I've heard from a few of my friends that we have Black alternates this year. Could be kinda cool.
  23. I wasn't comparing him to Young, just wondering what the fans expect out of him. I wasn't very clear there, my bad. But you make an incredibly valid point, ANY school would love to have Taylor's speed on offense.
  24. Scout team?? lol, seriously? Carnes has a ton of potential, but hasn't played one down in a live college game. When Carnes torches a Wisconsin or Ohio St. Defense we'll talk. Remember the coaches and fans didn't put Taylor in the best position last fall. You want him to show development? Then let him play more than his freshman season.
