  1. Yeah I don't think Perlman gets enough of the blame in that situation. The Eichorst hire was worse than Riley.
  2. I hope you are right, but I think there was a reason we ended up with Riley last time. It wasn't just incompetence by Eichorst.
  3. Let's look at it this way, if Frost had no Nebraska ties, who are the realistic candidates? We realize how far we have fallen and how fortunate we are to have an opportunity to get a coach like Frost. We aren't going to be in any hurry to fire him because our next coach will be the Tim Miles of football. We really can't compete for the top tier coaches anymore so this is probably our last chance at one of them. We are going to be 100% sure that he isn't the guy before we let him go.
  4. From everything I hear, Frost wasn't happy that he didn't get the job when Riley was hired. If he thought he had enough experience then, why would he not think it now. There appears to be many schools who do believe he has enough experience though. Time will tell, but there have been many successful coaches with less experience.
  5. Our expectations are to see progress. At this point 6-6 is significant process. Then we should build up to division championships, conference championships, and national championships. If it takes 10 + years but you see progress every year, then fine. Of course expectations should rise. Honestly, this argument seems like the difference between a group of 5 school and a power 5 school. The ultimate goal is always a national championship. If that's not Frost's goal then he should stay at UCF.
  6. 5 million a year buys one of those nannys who will wake up with your kid. Or he can send the kid to grandma's house if he comes back home. If "whatever job he wants" is Nebraska, why not do it now?
  7. 2 division championships in 5 years is a huge task considering how far we have fallen behind UW and even Iowa. I just want to get back to being competitive with the conference in the first few years.
  8. If Frost had been at UCF for 4 or 5 years and turned down other power 5 jobs, then I could understand the argument of him staying. However, he has only had 2 maybe 3 recruiting classes and hasn't really had time to build HIS program. Hopefully he hasn't had long enough to really feel like he belongs at UCF. In the end, UCF has almost no chance of playing for a national championship. Nebraska might be irrelevant, but Nebraska's best case scenario is a heck of a lot higher than UCF's. If he goes undefeated or even has 1 loss here he is in the playoff conversation. If he goes undefeated at UCF the most they can hope for is a "BCS" bowl. This is why UF worries me more than UCF. If he doesn't come here though, I hope he stays at UCF.
  9. I still hate Missouri, but that's probably because of my proximity to all the pop up fans. It sounds like I would hate Iowa if I were closer to them though.
  10. Am I supposed to root for UCF or USF this weekend? I'm torn on this one, but I don't think I can survive another week of not knowing if he is coming here.
  11. Not to mention the high is 70 degrees on Friday. I'm getting pretty excited for my first game this year. I'm not one for jerseys, but I think I might have to break out my #7 for the game.
  12. Going to my first game this year and I'm bringing my 5 year old to his first home game.  I have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the team, but I'm hoping the crowd and the experience don't let me down. Wear red, be loud! (even if it's just for my kid)

  13. I'd say 6-6 is in the right direction, but I'm not going to make any expectations in his first year.
  14. I agree. The negativity from the fan base has a bigger impact than most think. This is a full out rebuild. This is our last real chance before we become the basketball program. Hopefully he gets Darin Erstad type leniency.
  15. So how many years do we as fans agree to give Frost before calling for his job?
  16. I agree with everything except #4. I hate that reason for any hiring. The locker room also switched from south stadium to north stadium since he's been here so he may need help finding it.
  17. I hear the Calabasas job is opening up and Frost is the favorite there. There is so much talent at the middle schools in the 500 mile radius to turn down the job. My sources are telling me co head coaches Joe Ganz/Dailey will be announced at Moos's Thanksgiving dinner.
  18. Johnny Stanton is playing on ESPN2 right now.  It's good to see him doing well.

Just threw a couple of nice passes too.  I'm glad he is playing.

I wish him well.  Still, the images of his lonely horsehead self at the Nu basketball game are what comes to my mind

  19. That year we also led the NCAA in interceptions and Demorrio Williams was among the sack leaders. He also seemed to manage the blowout problem while at OU and LSU. Looking back at it now you can see a connection, but it would have been foolish not to hire him because of those 3 losses 5 years prior. You may not have wanted him, but just about everyone else was talking about how we got a great coach and he seemed to have proved it over the first couple of years. He just couldn't maintain the talent to fit the system. edit: Not to mention that at the time we would gladly go back to just 3 blowout losses compared to what we were getting from Cosgrove's D.
  20. My sources tell me we didn't even interview Nick Saban when TO retired. What the heck were we thinking?
  21. Agreed. No point doing something that would piss him off. He knows how bad we want him. He can very easily play that game right back at us. Let him now how much we can pay and just ask that we get a chance to match UF before he makes a decision.
  22. Anyone who marries a football coach knows that they will be moving around a lot. I can't imagine his wife vetoing a move back home for her husband while also having one of the premier jobs in the profession. I have no doubt that she probably prefers the state of Florida to Nebraska, but priorities change when you have a kid. I also know of many people who move closer to home once they have a kid than people who stay away. I can't imagine being farther away from home is a pro on his list when it comes to the UF job.
  23. I feel the opposite way. We aren't firing Riley until the end of the year, so if the longer Frost holds out on Florida the better. edit: Unless Florida hires a different coach in the next few weeks. Then I would feel much better about landing Frost.
  24. You can give the top 25 recruits to FSU, the next 25 to Miami, and there will still be more talent than the 500 mile radius.
