  1. They can sneak it for the first down easily. The biggest mistake was being fancy on our second to last drive. We could have run a minute and a half more off the clock by running it up the middle three more times.
  2. The meeting in the center of the field isn't a tradition for Nebraska before games (that I've ever noticed) but some of the players do it at the end of every game.
  3. did we really need another topic on this?
  4. sorry but you're quoting some guy from Kansas I've never heard of and another guy from Pennsylvania. That doesn't indicate anything to me.
  5. Yes... like I said in another thread, that's the most damning thing for Paterno. If he trusted him enough to hire him as a coach, he obviously also trusted that he didn't lie about what he saw.
  6. That's how a statement should be. Not "This is an official Nebraska Statement, but I'll still mention that Paterno's my best friend"
  7. I had that same thought... the D.A. thing makes it feel like that. Too bad it's not a movie instead.
  8. According to Paterno's testimony, "fondling or something of a sexual nature." Someone's lying though. The A.D. claimed that the GA didn't mention any sexual conduct occurring. Only something that made McQueary feel uncomfortable. So either McQueary changed his story when talking to the A.D. or the A.D. is a liar.
  9. Ya, the game can't be moved. It would have to be a forfeit or just never played. The B1G Championship is December 3rd. That's our only open date left.
  10. What he did was worse than Joe Pa. It makes no sense. He actually witnessed it and then did nothing.
  11. I'm not getting the defense either. He hired McQueary as one of his coaches. You don't hire a guy if you don't trust him. You don't trust a guy who makes terrible accusations like this if you don't think they're true.
  12. Their about face is idiotic to say the least, way to play the field. But reading the report and putting all emotion aside you can not say with any certainty what Joe was told by the GA and if he new the gravity of what he was told. It's not an excuse but it sounds like he heard enough to know that someone higher needed to be informed of it, and he maybe justed wanted to wash his hands of it and keep his nose clean. There just isn't enough detail in the report from the GA or Paterno to draw a definitive conclusion about what was said. Either way it's just really disgusting and disturbing to read. The BoT either knew more than they are telling, or they are just trying to save face and everyone that acted questionably is going. He stated that he was told something of a sexual nature occurred between a 58 year old and a 10 year old. *shrug*
  13. They're playing at Iowa, and they are historically bad when playing against Iowa.
  14. I think they reflect society. It's no worse or better. I'm also skeptical that things are much worse now. There's just more media coverage and faster spread of things.
  15. This. Agree. No way should he keep a job if Paterno doesn't.
  16. I just heard "Joe Paterno fired" on TV. I'd read it already but hearing it out loud is a lot crazier.
  17. This is one reason why Paterno's reactions this week bother me. It shouldn't have taken him so long to respond. This article came out in April, and it took him until today to say he wishes he'd done more. He also said in a press conference just a couple months ago (but I don't remember the date, probably during Fall Camp) that there hadn't been any serious troubles at PSU ever. I can't believe he had the gall to say that after testifying. i always got the impression joe pa was never with it and just regurgitating general football platitudes he remembered from the last time he was lucid, the '70's. this adds some credibility to that. I feel that way half the time too. Half the time I think of how my 85 year old grandparents would respond in this situation, and then it's hard to take seriously what he says right now. I'm under the impression one of his sons hands him a piece of paper to read off of.

  19. The PA Grand Jury report is not a newspaper. Grand Jury reports are not exactly written fact. They are often written to be as malicious (or in this case, salacious) as possible to warrant an indictment. Often times they are very inconsistent. What knapp said. The only thing I posted is Joe Pa's testimony. He also said already that he wishes he'd done more.
  20. How is he gonna be proven guilty? For the moment, Paterno isn't a suspect in the investigation and hasn't committed any crimes. Most people, myself included, are condemning him because he has admitted to knowing about these incidents and did nothing about them. Hmm...I didn't know he admitted to the situation....It's too bad he had to be caught in all this mess...he told his superiors, but I wonder what he actually told them...was he trying to purge and cover up this situation himself? According to Paterno...
