  1. I think there is very little evidence that supports any decision SE could make short of moving in a new HC direction. Far too many long time Bo supporters have either jumped ship, or are leaning that way heavily. Even Sipple has pretty much conceded it's time to try something different. If Bo would show ANY evidence of doing something different, replacing assistants aside, he might be given one more shot. But it's crystal clear that this isn't going to happen. He just doesn't seem to have it in him to ditch the things he believes in at an attempt to see if something different will work. At this point, it's just time to try something different. Like Count, it took me a LONG time to get this through my thick head....but I'm there. It's just time before it gets too stale (if it isn't already there). If NU can figure out the NCAA issues, I have a strong belief that Tressel will be the next HC at NU and it will be next season. There is no better hire that has a chance of reality and if NU doesn't give it everything it has to make it happen, that would be a shame. I can't say I don't like Tressel...but that damn vest always bothered me. I'd probably learn to love it and I'll tell you this: My next door neighbors moved here several years ago from Columbus, OH. As much as they like Urban...they tell me that they, and every other fan they know REALLY miss Jim and would take him back over Urban in a heart beat. Anyway, even if it doesn't end up being Tressel or any of the other names being tossed around....I think any change at this point is the right choice.
  2. As a former, successful defensive coordinator for NU, Pelini knew the fans, traditions, etc. Didn't end up meaning anything at all. Pelini coached at NU for 1 year prior to being hired after Callahan's departure. Scott Frost grew up in Nebraska and played for Nebraska during the championship years. I'd say Frost is far more qualified when it comes to knowing the fans and traditions of NU. And I don't know how successful I'd call him as a DC in 2003. He had 3 pretty bad losses that year to Missouri (41-21), Texas (31 - 7) and KSU (38 - 9). Plus: Pelinis 1 year was tainted by how it ended. I think as soon as he hears anything negative, this is why he goes into defensive mode with the fans and press. It's like he recalls how it ended and gets bitter all over again. Even this year, he's quieter....but he's still condescending. You can just hear it in the tone. The questions he gets asked often are ludicrous, but as we've beaten with a stick around here - that sort of comes with the gig.
  3. I had no reason to dislike tOSU when JT was the coach. I can't tell you how many times I swore at the vest just by accidentally turning the game on, but it was A LOT. I hate the vest. Not the man. The vest. It's ridiculous!!!!!!! haha
  4. I'm in the club of folks who would be just fine if Bo was swapped with Frost.
  5. This is just me....but Bret Bielmea, again for me personally, is not the type of human being I'd like to coach here. He's not a good dude...just ask our B1G bretheren who spent way more time with him that we did.
  6. My cousin said this after the game Saturday and I couldn't have said it any better: Whether or not I can or cannot do the job better than Bo does not apply here at all. It isn't my job, however it is his job. As with all jobs, they come with expectations that are to be met or the pay and work stops. The question is - are expectations being met?
  7. my boss is gonna hit this up saturday from the 7fig donor he tailgates with. We were talking about how the general tone of a fanbase cant really be to far off scaled from message boards and callin shows, and how saturday was pretty much the last straw for a lot of people. I said I'd be really curious what some of the bigtime donors/boosters are thinking, so he offered to get an answer from the one he tailgates with. Even in wins, Bo puts out an "i told you so' front. He just seems to combative with the negative and not embracing the positive when it comes to fans and media. I've finally got it through my head-big thanks to Tim Miles over the last couple years-that this is no way in hell to run a program. The relationship is toxic at this point. Kenny Bells throwin gas on fire. I think this has happened to me as well...........and I've been considering myself a true last line of defense.....
  8. This is pretty much how I feel. I can't stand the negativity so I try to put things in perspective and play devils advocate. Things are always truthfully in the middle. But no. All I get (or others who say the same get) in return is called blind or stupid or some other uncalled for name some internet guy wants to call me or someone else. It's embarrissing to yourself (you know who you are if you read this) to cut down another HUSKER fan in an effort to drive your agenda. Actually more sad than anything.
  9. The entire area is equally kid friendly, IMHO. You're going to have some booze around wherever you go. If you are cool w/that - you'll be alright. I second the railyard for fun and the book store for gear. No better place for NU stuff than the book store. Buy something every time I'm there.
  10. I am still somewhat shocked that Iowa last year, who was not very good, wasn't the moment all the wheels came off and triggered the change. It's all so strange how that came and went and now, with good reason, the tone is all right back. Yeah. Not only the loss at home, in the bumbling fashion in which we lost, but the firestorm of a presser afterwards. "You want to fire me? Then fire me." People talk about Bo's supporters in the Admin, but the only reason he's still here after Iowa is that the guy(s) they wanted weren't willing to come here. There's a reason Eichorst didn't speak to the press and didn't release a statement the day of the Iowa game last year. That missive he released, supporting Pelini, could have been emailed to the press any time Friday afternoon/evening. It's not like it took long to write. Yep, pretty much sums it up.
  11. Probably purgatory regardless...unless there are 2 or more major embarrassments in there the rest of the way. As I just stated to Count.....if it didn't happen after Iowa last year, it isn't happening this year. And after holding out one last hope that Bo might come to the presser yesterday with some actual reflection.....well, that came and went and he's obviously not going to cave to change. I think that's clear. As so many have said...years of stubbornness are going to be his demise. It's too bad! He wouldn't be so grumpy if he had some help and these wild swings didn't happen!!!!

  13. Call me crazy, but for those saying if NU was headed toward 7-5 yet was 'competitive' in all games the tone would be different and Bo's seat wouldn't be as hot..........well, I just don't believe that. But yea - I'm crazy like that. It might be a slightly different group yelling loudly, but the volume would be just as loud.
  14. The blindness persists it is sad, I feel like throwing up literally LOL - OK pal. It is possible to see both perspectives vs being so zeroed in on an agenda. I didn't quantify my statement, so you are probably just interpreting it for me to say that NU and Bo are on the cusp and aren't trying to insult me, who you don't know. I didn't say they are on the cusp. I don't think they are much further than a few steps in the right direction away either. Whether I think Bo could actually or would actually take the right steps....well I didn't offer my opinion because it doesn't apply here.
  15. Yep agree. I also think it's reasonable to think that both the blowout losses that have happened will happen again - AND - (gasp) someday, the stars will align for Bo and NU sometime where 1 or more championships will happen. There are some serious flaws....but honestly...they aren't THAT far off...... Some non-stubborn changes and some luck in recruiting and scheduling (again) and it is honestly reasonable to see a championship happening.
  16. I hope the huskers win 11, rooting for them all the way!!!! But I'll say this...and this is really, REALLY sad and shameful for me to admit: I'm also rooting for Wisconsin to go ahead and win at least 1 of 2 because I would expect nothing less than NU getting steam rolled by iOSU and that fast, good armed QB. At this very moment, the scenario of NU somehow getting fortunate enough to get into the B1G champ game doesn't sound fortunate at all!!!! BTW - these comments are not intended to say who or when anyone on whatever staff should be fired. Just the reality as I see it.
  17. Mind boggling that O and K aren't ranked in reverse in the polls..........especially with VT getting hammered by Miami.
  18. I know this is kind of a 'whatever' topic, but listening to KB and AA talk after the game....they only have 8 quarters left in M stadium. Just a reminder that we should all just enjoy it!!!! GBR!
  19. Just remember. The higher the eagle flies........it's all downhill from there.
  20. I love this post!!! I agree with the theme of the OP. Been a really fun season. Anyway, we could have done better, but hindsight is always 50/50.
  21. This. What the hell guys. Not a one of us can do a better job and I know I know, there are magical people that can, but good lord - NU is 7-1 and has looked great! Just enjoy it and all the awesome things we are given by this program.
