  1. I really don't think @Penn State will be a toss-up unless they end up being significantly better than expected. Happy Valley home field advantage is daunting, but we likely get a win there.
  2. I'm still gonna call it Farmageddon and there's nothing they can do about it. And screw Iowa St and K-state nobody cares about them.
  3. Just last year also, some group or company bought up a ton of Washington season tickets just to get the ones for the Nebraska game.
  4. Not that Wyoming has ever had good uniforms, but those are another step down. The brown helmets are disgusting, at least the white ones were a recognizable look. (apparently they still have white helmets as an alternate) And the vertical "COWBOYS" on the pants...yuck. I'm wondering what combo we'll see on our visit.
  5. Thanks for the awesome update, knapplc.

You just... I am... Wat? The way "d-fence" was written, the liking of all of the non-traditional black jerseys being worn by teams that for the most part have great football tradition, and thinking that people outside of Nebraska don't know about the Blackshirts...ugh, this is why people like you aren't in charge of deciding what the team wears. Our defense (and defense alone) has the tradition of wearing black practice jerseys. Our whole team on gameday has the tradition of wearing red over white, white over red. Most people who follow college football know about the Blackshirts, ESPN and other TV and news media use that name all the time. If you like black jerseys that much: Iowa, Missouri, and Colorado are all just a state border away.
  8. I'd like to see Eric Martin just freak on people and become a starter. Not incredibly likely...but he's been one of my favorite players since he was a hyper energy bomb freshman
  9. LHN might be dead before it even gets started, thats the word on the street...

  10. A lot of Reilly's "humor" isn't funny because he gets his facts wrong all the time or makes wild assumptions, as was evident in the Nebraska piece. Some exaggerations were funny, others...weren't even exaggerations they were just dumb and wrong. He also ruins great sporting moments by pooping all over a great accomplishment (see Darren Clarke's Open Championship victory piece). Reilly used to be at least decent before he came to ESPN and became a caricature of himself. I mean the whole "your spring game draws a bigger crowd (66,000) than Illinois games" part...well duh, Illini's stadium only seats 62,000! So, um, duh. Christ.
  11. Move to the B1G probably helps to do away with that position too.
  12. He sure got beat a lot of times for being the defense's MVP. But I guess I'll take Carl's word for it. Of course, if Prater was better than Hagg, perhaps the whole defense might have been designed around him. Who knows.
  13. Really. You've got to be kidding me with that. Solid but not like 1st round material man
  14. He likely would have beaten out Hagg. Pretty easily imo. Hagg was solid but not spectacular.

Now this is the first legit idea that I have heard. I'll have to give it some more thought, but on the surface this seems like one of the only scenarios where I wouldn't be totally against the black. It would have to be done tastefully though. But there are several people on this board that think along the lines of "Hey we should wear black!" "Um, why...?" "Cuz it'd be cool and Oregon does it!" ...which is mostly the mindset that I am against. The other mindset that I see is "Man why does it always gotta be about tradition?" And the answer to that is that we live in a fly-over state with a population of 1.8 million. We have one small city to our name (Omaha), and the even smaller Lincoln. We have no local recruiting base. We have few landmarks or attractions to draw people to our state. Our weather sucks. I mean, without our tradition...our history of success, our instantly recognizable uniforms, our national championships, our Heisman trophy winners, our tunnel walk...without that tradition and pedigree, what do we have? So don't mess with the uniforms.

I'm not trying to pick on you here, but I get kind of tired of this attitude. If we wore black uniforms for ONE game, would it really be such a big deal? I don't think anyone wants to change tradition, but it's fun to switch things up now and then for a brief moment. The whole, "This is how we have always done things, this is how we will always do things, and that's that" attitude wears me down. But then again, maybe I'm not a real fan. Yeah, it would be a pretty big deal. Black is not a school color, I don't know why we would wear it. Teams wearing black for the hell of it is getting old. Lets not put ourselves in the same boat with these disasters: And that doesn't even include VT's Pro Combat Black...god forbid that ever happen here.
  17. This. There's barely space for a "street" thing there (pathway, whatever you want to call it). But the south stadium upper deck is feasible and is probably our only option for expansion left, unless, way in the future, we add a north stadium upper deck which would involve taking out those suites and the big screen and moving them. So that is way unlikely anytime soon.
  18. Why? Because I don't like the way Martinez answers questions in an interview? Because I don't like the fact that Martinez missed practices when he was upset he wasn't named the starter earlier than he was? Because I don't like the fact that Pelini felt compelled to bench Martinez against Texas? Because I don't like the fact that he chose to break team rules by calling his dad during the Texas A&M game? Because I don't like the fact that he skipped a team meeting the next day? (Something Taylor's father admits.) Because I don't like the fact that he appeared to not celebrate with the team when they would score later in the season? Because I don't like the fact that Martinez appeared to be disinterested when he was on the sideline later in the season? I am sure there is a totally benign explanation for most if not all of the above. But one could also draw some unflattering opinions about Martinez from things as well. True, his interview style could be because he is shy and introverted. Or it could be because he is a cocky SOB. Same deal with his sideline demeanor. You guys want to criticize anyone who looks at that information and comes to the conclusion that there might be a problem with Martinez just because Bo Pelini has not come out and said, "Martinez is a diva"? Or because he hasn't yet been kicked off the team? To me that's disingenuous. When you guys come up with benign explanations for how Taylor looked on the sideline or how he interviews, all you are doing is arguing with me about how to interpret what I saw. But I saw what I saw, and I didn't like it. You are free to disagree, but please don't disagree by insulting my intelligence. Wow. This is all stuff that is either a) flat out not true, even proven false if you've been paying attention b ) highly subjective "don't like the way he answers questions" ?? Why go there? c) has nothing to do with Martinez's ability to quarterback the team You realize that you are saying all of this (a lot of which is false to begin with) about an 18-year old FRESHMAN kid who started ONE YEAR, while playing injured for half of the year, at one of the most pressure-filled positions in all of college football (QB at Nebraska). Until someone else comes along that proves they have more ability than Martinez, he's the starter. And last year's experiences will only help him grow. Let me be clear that I don't care who plays quarterback, but right now Martinez is the guy.

Oregon had to get Nike to manufacture their gimmicky uniform mess because they had no identity and nothing going for them. It had nothing to do with "changing" or becoming a "champion" ...how many national championships has Oregon won? This is Nebraska, not some upstart program looking to cash in. Oregon's tradition is...having no tradition. They are the exact polar opposite of Nebraska and comparing them to us is downright silly and ignorant.

How could anyone who claims to be a Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan want to wear black uniforms. Unbelievable.

Oh yeah I always forget about those (or just subconsciously block them out of my mind). Its like we took Mizzou's uni's and replaced all the black with red. Just terrible and distasteful and spitting in the face of tradition.
  22. I'd like playing Kansas, K-state, Missouri, or Oklahoma at Arrowhead. Any other team would either not be fun or would just not make sense.

If we ever wear black uniforms, I'm going to switch and become a Texas fan.
  24. lol, thats a pretty hilarious use of a picture. I'm guessing they just wanted to use it because of our awesome atmosphere
