  1. All-white can be gorgeous when it is done right. Texas is a prime example; their all-whites are probably the best in football. Love their all-whites. Auburn also comes to mind, as does OU (but Oklahoma's are kind of bland) Our all-white look is not good for a few reasons. 1) Not traditional. We wear red over white and white over red. End of story. 2) When we did try it, it didn't look horrible, but didn't look great. It violated my #1 however, and we also lost in them. All-white will forever be associated with losing to most Nebraska fans. 3) Wearing all-white for the Wisconsin game is silly; why would we want to be even more similar to Wisconsin? They wear all-whites for road games, we should stick to being Nebraska and wear our white over red; it looks great. Somehow Wisconsin's all-whites seems to work better than ours. I believe it is somehow due to the minor differences that do exist between our uniform and Wisconsin's, namely: - Two, slightly skinnier red helmet stripes as opposed to our one central stripe - Slightly skinnier red shoulder stripes - Wisconsin's name-on-back font is thinner, more scrunched than ours Thats about it though. And I totally agree; the 2001 look was outstanding. I'd love to ditch the stripes and go back to that. And for those who mentioned Paul Lukas on ESPN, he has run a great blog for years now, all about uniforms across all sports at http://www.uniwatchblog.com/. I love it; I recommend checking it out.
  2. Yeah, better not be any of that nascar crap pushing this game to 2:30. This game is easily one of the top 5 CFB games next season.
  3. I joined it and we'll see... but students aren't dumb...if this turns out to be some retarded gimmicky thing, nobody will do it anyways. I'm a tiny bit hopeful but personally don't think this group will come up with anything good.
  4. I've never sat in North stadium, but from all of the stories I've heard, its a horrible place. Speakers so loud you can't think, cant see the screen, and of course the bluehairs...come on old people this isn't the '60s, if we want to cheer on our team don't hold us back.
  5. Students were moved back 2 or 3 years ago, again. I can easily see students being pushed back further after stadium expansion is done, but I sure hope not.
  6. Let's just hope Ed Cunningham isn't calling the game. TARGETING
  7. I'll also say that it varies with the game. clearly a western kentucky or an arkansas state type game, you can show up an hour early and get a decent seat. But for a Texas/OU/Ohio St game, forget about it. Sneaking booze in isn't that hard I'm sure, I haven't tried it though. They don't normally pat you down but even if they do I doubt they'd find a well-hidden flask. The security guys are really lazy about their job. The system as a whole is OK, its just that they keep pushing the students further and further back into the corner and the upper parts of the stadium so they can sell more tickets. which really sucks for us when we pay thousands for tuition, but whatever. Mostly if they keep pushing students back, it will make the game atmosphere worse and worse because there are a lot of blue-hairs in the NU crowd, and students really bring the life to any college crowd. Keep the students close to the action.
  8. First come, first serve. Depends on the game, big games I'll get there about 3-4 hours before, otherwise about 2 hours before. Are the tailgates that you go to that bad? Its not even like that. If you want any sort of a respectable seat, you show up 2 hours early. Otherwise we're stuck up in that far corner of south stadium where TO banished the students to a few years ago, or way up under the upper deck in east stadium. Trust me, I'd tailgate HARD if I could, but its simply not really an option if you actually care about seeing the game edit, and of course people bring flasks and stuff but that is pretty lame compared to an actual tailgate
  9. I left at halftime (Thats right. Halftime) of Okie State '07. My freshman year, and I was just too disheartened about finally getting to go to Husker games, and having to watch a team like that for the start of my college years It's all good, they've made up for it with Bo & Co.
  10. Boy if you hate fluffball, the B1G is perfect for you. Just watching an Iowa game makes my brain numb. I do hope we get Legate the ball some, and do some power running. Also, Rex is probably the perfect back to have during this transition. A low-to the ground, explosive guy who can just run people over if he wants to.
  11. Yeah like knapplc said, we don't need an entirely new system. We just need a few more speakers placed around south stadium. Cost will be much lower to just string a few new speakers.
  12. Ummmmm.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEnq_5j_vNk Wisconsin fans have earned their reputation. These kids all have parents. (ironic given my avatar right??? But you never see this kind of thing up north in GB)
  13. Practically impossible. Extending the corners is impossible because half or all of the field would be out of view from those seats, blocked by the east or west stadium structure. (See this) Giving south stadium an upper deck is the only thing that seems even remotely feasible after this expansion, and I'm not even sure that is possible.
  14. If they don't address something as simple as the sound system while doing this expansion it would be practically criminal. Christ how difficult and expensive could it be to add a few more speakers, especially with our athletic budget
  15. The number it takes to get a scholarship varies year to year based on how many applicants there are from in-state with high ACT scores. Really you'd need a very strong profile outside of the 30 to get it. You would be well off to get a 32+ to improve your chances. I know people with 32s who were not given regents scholarships. Really? I know 3 people who got right on a 30 and got a regents. As long as you're in-state I think the regents is guaranteed above 30 unless they changed it within the last couple of years. But I think it is our graduation rates that are the problem; I remember hearing something about how terrible the grad rates are, but unfortunately I don't remember where I heard that so I can't back it up. Give us a decade or two in the B1G and our academics will improve, slowly but surely.
  16. I know you can vote posts +1 for good feedback, but is there a way to give negative feedback?
  17. Not meant to be about the money. Maybe have it on BTN but black it out in Lincoln then. I'd just really prefer people being in the stands, and if it was televised I can see attendance being way down. (Look at Texas's game, lol)
  18. We would, if it wasn't 1500 miles away. There's as many Nebraska fans out of state than there are in state. Throw us a bone. The attendance excuse is BS too. We're averaging double what we were 15 years ago, when we were winning MNC's. Pay-Per-View then? (a cheap, like $10 one?) with a Lincoln b*******... I wonder how many people would complain about that
  19. The spring game should not be televised. Far fewer people would show up. Without TV coverage, more people in the stands, better atmosphere for the kids. Just come out and show your support while you can before the dull summer months, I'll be there...
  20. The bolded part I agree with. The italicized part is ridiculous. Like I said, do you remember the Miami Hurricanes and the celebrations they did? And the NFL and NCAA now both have rules in place to prevent ridiculous T.O. celebrations. And saying that the NFL is predictable and boring is also the kind of general statement that you can't back up in any way. It isn't. Make a game thread sometime where you predict whether the next play will be a run or a pass, or who will get the ball. You'll do just as well in a NFL game as you would in a college game. Less effort and emotion, come on. These guys are competitors. They want to win. Its not like they graduated college and decided that winning is overrated.
  21. Right, but that being said...these guys are amped up. They make a play, they are going to celebrate. The act of celebrating, whether intentional or not, often brings attention to them. There's something to be said for acting the right way and promoting good sportsmanship, at any level. But insinuating that this attention-drawing only happens in the NFL, or happens more in the NFL, is ridiculous. And there are now penalties in place at both levels to try and curb this.
