  1. My extended family is spending Labor Day weekend in Kansas City. We are wanting to play golf somewhere, probably on Sunday, but I've never played golf anywhere around KC. Anyone got any experiences, both good and bad. We aren't looking for the best courses, but we don't want to play in a pasture either.
  2. Reetz is a flat out stud, I've been watching him play for about 4 years now. He's easily been the best baseball player out on the field in every game I've seen him play, but the only thing that's going to get him to campus is is boyhood dream of playing for Nebraska because he'll easily be drafted in the top 5 rounds, and probably in the first 2 or 3.
  3. Nice load of fish, where in South Dakota did you catch this pile of fish. LOL.
  4. I chop onion and bacon really fine, add 1 raw egg, a tablespoon of garlic, some breadcrumbs and cheddar cheeze to a pound of burger, mix it well and then form 4 big patties and let them sit until room temperature. Then I'll add Lawry's seasoning salt on them as they grill. Don't forget the buns, Wonderbread burger buns suck, if you're going to make a great burger, get some decent buns, Rotella's are the best that I can get in the Lincoln area. Trust me on getting quality buns. (Boy I just read my post and I've really opened myself to some ridicule if someone wants to take the 'buns' the wrong way, Oh well)
  5. Pressure on the quarterback comes from the front four AND better coverage in the secondary. If the DB's can cover, then the D-Line gets time to get to the QB (aka a coverage sack), this also works on the flip side, if the DL gets pressure on the QB, the DB's don't have to cover as long. I realize this is very simple way to put it, but a defense needs strong play from all 11 guys to be dominant. For some reason, Bo and the other coaches seem very confident on what they can do defensively this season because of the team's experience and knowledge of the system. I expect the defense to take multiple steps forward this season, hopefully, the difference will be like night and day from 2011.
  6. I'm looking to taking my 12 year old and a few of his buddys, GA tickets would be ok, where can I get them? Can I just buy them at Ameritrade Park?
  7. Personally, I like this move. If the guy is good enough to get to second team nickle back after doing it for the spring practices, obviously he has some skills. If he's in the mix for the #1 spot in the fall, let him play defense, then work exclusively on the diamond formation plays on offense and we get the best of both worlds
  8. Mitch Sherman said on 1620 yesterday that Cravens is a shoe in for USC, so don't hold your breath on him committing to us in June. Everyone keeps saying that just getting a recruit like this to visit and bein the top 3 or 5 or whatever is a positive, but it simply isn't good enough. We need to land one of these elite players eventually, then hopefully that will start a trend where we get a couple each year.
  9. Josh 'threw the bones' after he finished the race. “It’s the first thing that came to my mind,” Josh said. I'm really excited about this guy, can't wait to get him on the field
  10. I did some research and found out that the academic redshirt is coming in 2016, but that is only because the mimimum college entrance requirements are getting more difficult. In fact, 40% of the 2011 enrollees would not have met the new requirements that are coming in 2016. Here's the whole story. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/football/story/_/id/7885522/new-incoming-eligibility-standards-create-term
  11. Mitch Sherman was on Schick and Nick this morning and I only caught part of the interview, but the topic that stuck out was the academic redshirts. Evidently, if a particular high school player met part of the academic requirements for admission to your school, he could still come to college and a practice with the team that first fall, but if he passes 9 academic hours, he would be able to play that next season as a redshirt freshmam. This differs from the Prop 48's, where the student wouldn't lose a year of eligibility. I believe if this is true, it could make a HUGE difference to college football. Did anyone catch the entire interview, it's not on their podcasts page? How many of these players can a particular college take each year? When does it start?
  12. VERY NICE. You'll love it.
  13. when are you going? after my youngest is done with baseball, so probably sometime in the early part of July.
  14. Honestly, I like Creighton's basketball team and their coach, I was and still am a big Dana Altman fan, it's the Creighton fans that I cannot stand!!
  15. IF (and that's a big if) they get by Bama, they will surely face North Carolina in the second round. It should be a high scoring game, but there's almost no way the Bluejays beat the Tar Heels.
  16. A group of us are going to take a week and fish the Missouri River starting at Pierre SD and head south. I've fished many parts of the river from Pickstown up to Platte and I've fished above the dam in Oahe, but not much below. Anyone have any experience below the dam and Pierre and any recommendations on where we should stay (looking mostly at motels, we are looking to fish, not camp).
  17. Three of us went down the Dismal quite few years ago. One in a kayak and two in a canoe. Originally, we thought it'd be a lot like the Niobrara, so we brought along a bunch of beer for a lazy float down the river, OH how wrong we were. The guy in the kayak actually ended up running point for the canoers, advising on upcoming turns and troubles along the banks. It was a great trip, but a whole lot harder than we anticipated. The area with the big spring was awesome. We stayed there about an hour, just jumping in and hanging out in the spring and you are correct, that water is cold.
  18. What about KU assistant Danny Manning? KU head coach Bill Self is a relatively young guy, and probably will be at KU for a long, long time, so there's not sense in Manning waiting around to take over at KU. Manning has proven over the past couple of years that he can develop talent. He's take Thomas Robinson from a player who averaged 14 minutes per game last year sitting behind the Morris twins to a legitmate player of the year candidate this season. I'm not sure how good of a recruiter Manning is, but it has to be better than Doc. Honestly, I don't know if he'd be interested, but if I'm T.O., I'm making a phone call to Lawrence.
  19. I live in Crete, NE and just measured in the front yard, just shy of 15 inches and it's still snowing.
  20. Did anyone hear Greg McMullen's interview on Lincoln's 1480? I like this kid alot. He's very articulate and had a lot of good things to say about his work ethic, his place and what he plans to do when he gets to campus. He told a funny story about when Coach Kaz called him when Kaz was still at Iowa. He said that he had no interest in going to Iowa, he had his mind made up to go to Nebraska, so he actually gave the phone to his buddy who talked to Kaz for quite a while. The whole time Kaz thought he was actually talking to Greg but really wasn't. Then, as we all know Kaz leaves Iowa and actually becomes Greg's position coach here at UNL.
  21. I posted this same question on another General Discussion message board and I've gotten quite a few positive responses from people who suffer like we do and the inversion table seems to help. I think I'm going to take the plunge and buy one. I checked Craigslist, and there are few available in the Omaha/Lincoln area. Best of luck to the both of us. The nice thing about inversion tables is that they help relieve disc pressure. Now...it's only a temporary relief. I hope you find someone that can get down to the root of your problem. Have you tried abdominal and transverse core strengthening exercises? Those are what I did/do as part of the physical therapy that I was prescribed. The excercises helped initially, but not much anymore, but I don't do them nearly has consistently as I once did.
