  1. Give me examples please. Haarberg’s sidearm motion of dropping the elbow and staying under the ball won’t work.
  2. I agree with you on moving Haarberg to TE in the long term, which was the plan considering he was basically the 3rd string QB at the end of fall camp. My comment was for the remainder of this year.
  3. That arm angle isn’t getting fixed. He will not be the long-term answer at QB.
  4. It’s hard for coaches to look good at the “X’s and O’s” when they don’t have talent to execute them.
  5. The problem with Chubba is that NU needs to get a good chunk of their rushing yardage from the QB. I don’t think Chubba offers that type of ability.
  6. IMO, the biggest issue with Haarberg in the passing game is that 1) because of his poor throwing motion when his passes miss, they usually sail high and wide, and 2) because Haarberg has little experience/inability to read defenses effectlvely, he’s making the initial read and throw down the middle. This is not a good combination because high, sailing passes down the middle of the field can go right to defenders or get tipped but the intended receiver, which can also lead to INT’s. I’m not sure what the solution to this problem is, but it’s probably something we will just have to try to survive the best we can this year.
  7. That’s really the only negative with the D so far. But, maybe White doesn’t want his defenders to take a lot of chances to create turnovers. Maybe, he just wants to keep teams in front of the defenders, and force them to go the length of the field.
  8. After helping a number of people up to crowd surf at a 311 concert, someone recommended I give it a try. It didn’t turn out too well. #fat
  9. Unfortunately, NU could “improve” but not show it in their record, because they won’t be playing 6 games against the current Big Ten West.
  10. This is where I am at right now. Yes, HH had some potential INT’s drop against Illinois, but this was his first game with more than one turnover. The dropped snaps are also killer though, as they lead to a lost play, and are drive-killers. He has to play better, but I don’t think he can be benched after being named the starter by Rhule this week. Rhule was going to be loyal with Sims until Sims was injured, it’s not surprising that Rhule would be loyal with Haarberg, too.
  11. For years, we heard Frost say “we just need to learn how to win,” and for the last 2 weeks, we have seen NU do it. I like his new alternative better.
  12. Very possible. The guys on 1620 brought that up after the game today. Sims could play in 2 more games and retain his redshirt.
  13. Sims could use this as a redshirt, and transfer as a grad transfer and still have 2 years to play at his next school.
  14. Or NU was able to design a play to get him open, and Satt called a perfect play at a perfect time. Nobody knows if Coleman wasn't running deep routes before just because he wasn't thrown any.
  15. Yes, this is quite possible, but we don't know for a fact.
  16. Special teams were up and down, even today. Buscini had a great punt to flip the field in the 3rd quarter, and pinned NW at their 12 yard line on their last 2 drives. Alvano drilled his FG, which was great to see. Tommi Hill did have a very good kickoff return to the 36 yard line after Northwestern's first FG. That helped start NU in good field position, which led to a tying FG.
  17. Gary Sharp on 1620 just had an interesting story about Williams on Big Red Overreaction. Sharp said Williams was on the scout team all the way up until this week. NU was bringing out a 5 d-linemen package for this week's game to get a better pass rush, and Knighton recommended they use Williams in that package. Williams was up for the challenge, and he looked good as a natural pass rusher.
  18. I don't necessarily disagree with you. I don't like how Haarberg passes. It's just not an easy answer. We don't know how many reps Sims is getting with the #1 offense, but I do agree with you in that he should start to get more reps in case he's needed.
  19. James Williams. I have never heard of the guy either, but it's great how White's scheme allows a plug and play system at certain positions. It's also great to see so many young defensive players.
  20. I've learned that Nash Hutmacher has turned into a very good d-lineman. I was down on him prior to this season. It's good to see him get lighter, get quicker, and thrive in this scheme.
  21. NU can play a clean game in the penalties category. Only 2 for 20 yards. Also, NU won a one-possession, game!!!
  22. That's flat out wrong. Fidone is the only receiver which Haarberg looks for. Fidone was targeted at least a half dozen times today, on only 17 pass attempts.
  23. There has been a lot of talk from the Nebraska media wondering if Rhule were to bench HH, that it would kill HH's confidence, and Rhule would have a tough time going back to HH if Sims were to struggle. I don't know what the answer is. NU is in a terrible QB situation, but NU keeps winning despite of it. Iowa lost with their backup QB today, after only scoring 10 points.
