  1. I ran into Detlef Shrempf at the Sidetracks Lounge the Friday night before that game. He was there with Rich King.
  2. I was that that Gameday with my younger brother and a couple of his friends. After Gameday, we hit O Street for a couple hours, and then came back to his tailgate. That tailgate area was absolutely crazy that day. We were doing upside down margarita shots at the tailgate. It was so fun. I don't remember much of the game. Oh man...upside down margarita shots! I can't remember the last time I did that! GIRLS USED TO LOVE THOSE!!!! Yeah, Teach that was during your dark period when you thought going down to Lincoln for games was lame. I knew it was the BC era, but the all-day drinking was still fun. It still is, imo. Not disagreeing with you there. My opportunities are just more limited now.

  5. So he won't be able to work out on campus. Hopefully he can find a gym and keep in shape. Are coaches allowed contact with him? Like would he be able to receive workout plans from them? I would assume so if he's still on the team. As I understand it, the ban is a university grounds type of things. Has nothing to do w/ faculty or anything. Technically, he could probably still play in away games. The fact that he couldn't come on school property during the week to practicmakes that impossible obviously. If he has a ban on University property, there is no way he is classified as a UNL student. If he's not a student, how could he even be a part of the team?
  6. Can you throw any more White WR cliches out there?
  7. To clarify the topic of "hars", it's actually a har. A har is a 32 ounce fountain soda from U-Stop on 17th & Q in Lincoln. They also had the har repus for the 40 ounce sodas. When I was a sophomore at UNL the gas station on 16th & Q started selling 64 ounce "gushers". Most guys would get these buckets of soda and sip on them all afternoon. I would have mine downed within 20-30 minutes.
  8. Billy likes soda Jk. Good luck with that one. Start guzzling water or tea I drink a lot of water throughout the day. I gotta stay hydrated!!! But, I love a good soda or 3 when I am eating lunch or dinner. I haven't missed the soda with meals yet, but it's only been 2 days.
  9. That's all he got? I ran a 4.5 40 my senior year of high school. I would have been all state if my coach weren't such a jerk.
  10. Sometimes guys are super athletes but just not great football players. It happens Marcus Mendoza was one I recently recall Curtis Cotton agrees 100%
  11. Going to try and give up soda (including diet soda). I drink a lot of soda, so it could be tough. I guess I will have to replace it with beer.
  12. Those were the Tequila Sunrise uni's for the Astros. As far as NU's version, I kinda like them. They are old school, vintage, with a modern twist.
  13. I agree with you Accountability in terms of keeping Friday nights open for high school football games. I just hate the lame arguments people give about "how something will effect recruiting". High school football players (outside Nebraska) aren't going to be sitting around and wondering what time/channel/announcer the Nebraska football game is going to be on.
  14. Starting next season, the Thursday night NFL games in the first half of the season are going to be on CBS.
  15. That's precisely what I was getting at, but so far, that concept is pretty much null and void. I guess I just dont understand. For god's sake, let the high school guys have their night. Play the frickin game on Saturday where it belongs. Do you guys think that the typical high school football player sits around on Saturday and watches college football? I would think that most kids will get up early, go to school to watch the film of that week's game, then they go home and sleep most of the day. Then they wake up and try to find something to do with his friends.
  16. Who's Davidson? Just the guy who made this catch: Did he play with Winstrom and Peters?
  17. I probably used some hyperbole with my Sam Keller comment. Was he any good? Probably not. Did he deserve blame for the team being so crappy? Yes. But, I give the most blame to the defense, and the head coach who was totally clueless on what to do. By the end of the year, BC was having Ganz throw the ball 70 times a game (yes, maybe another exaggeration) to pad his stats in garbage time.
  18. I literally don't think I could disagree with this post any more. Agree with you, Landlord. Sam Keller was the least responsible person for the struggles of the '07 team. Now, if Ganz had started the entire season of '07, he might have been an even better QB in '08, so there is that to think about,.
  19. I am no expert but have watched a few of the games, and I would submit that the offense took a step down more by design and scheme on the coaches' parts rather than a lack of talent. While a great quarterback he was, a blazing option quarterback he was not. I guess that's where our opinion is different. I didn't think he was all that "great" of a QB. He had good skills, and was able to steady the ship after Frazier went down, but I think his on-field skills are overrated by Husker fans because of the great person he was and because he died at a young age.
  20. You forget that Frazier started the game and threw an interception right away, getting benched in favor of Brook. So let's say he doesn't lead us to a 4th quarter comeback - do the thoughts about Frazier change if he is remembered as the QB who threw us out of any chance to win that game right away and got benched? True about the Frazier INT early in the game, and Brook did throw a TD in the first half to keep NU in the game. But, that INT that Brook threw was a true 'WTF' moment, in which guys like TMart have gotten skewered over (remember TMart's INT against OU in the 2010 Big 12 title game). I was in college at the time of Berringer, so maybe I was too young and stupid to realize what a great person he was, and how he "embodied Nebraska." He might have been able to put up huge numbers in '95 had he been the starter, but in '94, the offense took a clear step down when he started after Frazier had the blood clots.
  21. He embodied what it meant to be a Husker! The respect he is deservedly getting is more than for playing time or being the best that ever was! What does that even mean "he embodied what it meant to be a Husker"? Again, I am not saying anything bad about how he was as a person or his character, I am just going with his on the field performance. Let's say Frazier doesn't come back in and lead NU in the 4th quarter against Miami. Do the thoughts about Berringer change if he is remembered as the QB who threw a 4th quarter INT against Miami when we had first and goal from the 3 yard line?
  22. Unpopular Opinion Alert--Was Brook Berringer all that great of a QB for NU? Don't get me wrong, he was a great person, citizen, and it was a tragedy that he died so young. I also agree that we probably don't win the national championship in 1994 without him, but let's not make him out to be this amazing QB in Husker history. Go back and check out the games he started in 1994. Other than the CU game, he didn't have a huge impact on those games. He was more of a caretaker/game manager for the last half of the season, and the team rode the defense and LP the last half of the year, until Frazier came back in the OB.
  23. Am I the only one who LOVED LP??? I am not condoning what he did off the field, but he is hands down my favorite RB of all time at NU, based on what he did on the field. Sorry, couldn't disagree more. He was/ is a despicable human being. I understand your opinion, and I had a small class with him in college. He seemed like a pretty normal guy. I realize what he did in 1995 and since then are deplorable, but I can separate what he did on the field and what he did off the field.
