  1. This would be a good get imo. Like that he's visited multiple times already.
  2. Think that is on par of the teams with draft eligible talent.
  3. Less irritated he didn't end up at Nebraska the second time. Much more pissed Pelini/Beck didn't take him more seriously out of high school. I think had he been pulled on board early on, I bet he stays through the coaching transition. Maybe even gives Riley someone to push Armstrong, especially in '16, my personal opinion with better QB play we win the division that year, and Banker is retained and we at least make a bowl for '17. Lots of hypotheticals but not signing pursuing him out of HS was a huge mistake. Beck had pleny of time to recruit Burrow but nevertheless, they settled on future North Texas Mean Green DE Kevin Dillman. Like many of Pelini/Beck QB targets, was gifted athletically, but were major projects to be successful D1 QBs(Though I'd put some respect on Martinez's JR season but he had his issues as a passer). JB would've been much more polished as a passer and an actual QB that could make plays when facing teams like Iowa, Northwestern and Wisconsin that make you play QB. Just seemed Pelini/Beck were more enamoured with physical traits than the actual ability to read defenses, ball placement and the commitment to being a student of the game. My apologies for the long post, but I still haven't let go of the clown show recruiting at QB that went on during that tenure.
  4. Fleck has a personality that young ppl gravitate to so seeing the results isn't surprising at the least. Being a person that likes urban areas, I agree that UM-Twin Cities campus could draw a certain kid. I also think, not to disrespect AD because he is a talented kid, that his offers from those schools(LSU/OSU) might not have been fully commitable. I know his lead recruiter at OSU took a job at Boston College and OSUs interest had decreased a bit. I'm almost willing to bet LSU did not give him the green light to commit, as they grow talented DBs on trees in their recruiting region and were looking to see where will happen. Minnesota is replacing a lot from their defensive backfield and he'll have a much better shot at seeing the field earlier there than even Nebraska. That also doesn't take into account that he likely had a least half of a foot out of Nebraska, and was probably looking to get OOS. Think had the opportunity presented itself with the other more nationally relevant programs, this would've been done a while ago. I wish him luck and hope he reaches his personal goals.
  5. Would somewhat explain the decommitment imo
  6. They also currently have one of the best programs in the country, with a well established program. An offer from them is in high demand and they can be ultra selective. Not to mentioned Dabo has always had s better recruiting base than Nebraska has had from Pelini though Frost. Still think these number of offers will decrease when things get more stable. I get the development aspect but think is a lazy take imo.
  7. He can stay at Minnesota for all I care. It sucks losing in state talent to a division opponent, but I'm far from peeing my pants. As was said, he's got elite measurables that can make him develop into an nice CB but he still needs to put on a bit of size before he's a serious factor. Odds are he'll be a good player in time. Meanwhile Nebraska/Frost just needs to keep out recruiting Minnesota and improve the development part.
  8. It's been said that was the case. Even if the pick was Nebraska, I would feel the same way.
  9. I'd be leery of Florida if they decide to offer.
  10. If true, maybe be was never really interested in NU. If it's one place we can afford to miss, its DB. I hate that it's an instate kid but Fish has acquitted himself well and frankly AD probably wouldn't play early, assuming that's what he's looking for.
  11. Remember the Eno Benjamin deal very well. Agree that it can hurt, because recruiting is a game that has to be played to a degree. Those that play it, will have better chance for kids like him versus those that don't. Either way we need to keep stocking the OL for Austin to develop.
  12. Was once thought to be an Iowa lean/Close to commiting. Seems both sides decided to go their separate ways. Would be a nice get imo.
  13. Very possible we sign 6 LBs. Definitely 5 though.
  14. I know Wisconsin is trying to get in with his brother so they can somehow get Kalen, but I think it will be Penn St.
  15. Classic Beck-style playcalling. Always wanted to call what he wanted to run at the worst times and not what he needed to run. Game still pisses me off.
  16. This staff is more interested in what kids can do versus how they "look", whether that's their ranking or build. In this case, one of the few standards is that he can move sideline to sideline and is a fluid athlete.
  17. I actually watched that interview last night and came away impressed once again by Austin. He's about his business and like the way he communicates. I also thought there were times where we needed to be more of a vertical running team, even though our IZ game was trash for the most part. It will help our entire offense(especially Martinez) if that can be improved. I really hope GA being in charge of the run game well see this.
  18. There's no need to be put down. These years have been hard on our fanbase. It's tough watching a team somewhat modeled after us have success by just being consistent. As for Frost, he's a very proud person, like most of us are as fans. I think the bumps he has taken has to make him wise up. I still like what we can do overall should this thing get put together versus what Wisconsin has done and the momentum they've gotten because of it.
  19. They've got a great thing going and their formula works. With everything, there are pros and cons of how they do what they do. The best thing they have going for them is that they will not panic and change what they are doing like we did with Petersen. Should they do so their grip they have would slip quickly. Alvarez was smart for knowing this as has built a near well oiled machine. I'm not ready to say Chryst will not get unseated, but they are trending in the right direction. I just want to see them go up against a Nebraska program that coaches, recruits and develops to it's best ability, which is something Wisconsin hasn't had to deal with from us yet. Remains to be seen if Frost is that guy.
  20. This is where I'm at. Easy for them to say that when one school isn't like the others. Also, Nebraska as a program is/ was in worse shape than the other three. All three have played(and won) a NY6 bowl game in the last four seasons and have natural recruiting areas they produce kids more often than not want to play for. I think while all schools need some semblance of stability, we see how delicate things are if you have the wrong coach, whether it be they just aren't good HCs(Bo/Riley, Helton, Golden, Strong) or they stop giving af (Fisher/Bo toward the end), especially for a place like Nebraska. Using Wisconsin again, it's why they are relatively the same program they have been all these years, and won't be much different going forward. They can't make notable changes like we tried to do over 15 years ago, otherwise they'll fall off faster than a spilled drink on a table. Nebraska needs stability/patience to turn things around, it also doesn't help Frost is still learning as a HC. We've seen that bite us at times the 1st two years. I agree if he can't turn it around the next 5 years, then I think we can "settle in" as a subpar program.
  21. I like it. I was thinking about this a day or so ago. I absolutely do not want Bootle at corner. Since he lacks ball skills to play corner in Chins' scheme, his lack of size really works against him imo. At times Lamar didn't but his length prevented some big plays. I do wonder who will play Nickle.
  22. I won't go that far but if anyone expects better than 5-2 pre-Ohio State, Purdue is a strong indicator. Granted games against Cincinnati, NW and Illinois have my attention. My hope is that Nebraska is at least 3-1 going into NW, relatively healthy and improving on a weekly basis. We'll see if it happens.
