  1. We needed a post guy badly so this is good. It would be nice to RS him, but I think if he can contribute at all he will play this year. The cupboard is empty in the post area. I like that they said he is a good rebounder and is not afraid to bang. Game film. Good start for him! will need to work on his conditioning & strength. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUzDx8U6Bqw
  2. I have been thinking about this and they could also work out a thing where Coleman, BJ, Harriman are the on the floor coaches and recruiters. Coach Smith could be Director of Strategic Planning. So he would do game plans and be chief scout. During games he would still be the bench coach in charge of substitutions & in game adjustments, but wouldn't actually directly coach the kids.
  3. Great clip. Unlike some Rb films where they just run through a huge gaping hole or around the end, he has lots of plays where he break tackles and gets YAC's
  4. Bigg is a juco all american player. He is certainly has B1G athleticism. We have no experienced pg's returning next year. In general we are trying to lock down Nebraska talent offering a Central alum is a great way to start.
  5. This kid has talent but do we need a JUCO 2-2 guy? Enunwa, Bell, Turner, Allen, Westerkamp, Evans and Wullenwaber are soph/freshmen. I am not sure I see the need for a JUCO guy here. I would rather get a 4 year guy.
  6. That's what I was thinking. Make them take a 2 year course. Personal Finance, Agent selection & negotiations, life skills, nutrition & health, home buying. Capital investments.
  7. The way I remember it was international players are more of a risk so they wouldn't recruit them as much. I think if we get Harriman on board that may change. My memory isn't so good but that's the way I took it. There's no absolutes in recruiting....
  8. I am very interested in what King Frazier can do. Reminds me of a young Kenny Clark.
  9. I think it's better to be a free agent than getting drafted in the 7th round. Get a chance to select the best opportunity. I think the big 3 are all pretty good values to their NFL teams in respect to where they got drafted.
  10. NFL. Draft Coverage was bad overall this year. Not enough film clips, to much time spent with the talking heads. I hate ESPN. Having Miles there is another way for them to pimp the SEC.
  11. I wonder if Harriman is in on some high major talent? While I would of loved to see Strickland on the staff, I understand that you take the best you can. Harriman has experience and connections and it's hard to pass on that. I've read some other articles that said he is a rising star. Heck we aren't even sure yet if he's the guy as I have not seen any other articles talking about the hire, so we may be getting ahead of ourselves. Although this seems pretty solid... http://my.journalstar.com/Husker_Extra_Group/Husker_Extra/blog As far as Chin, I imagine Chin and Miles have talked this over way ahead of time. It's been said many times they have a plan. I don't have a problem with this. It doesn't change the connections he has and he can interact with the players and help with their development as Director of player development when they are on campus. It could be he is not a fan of travel or doesn't want to be an on the floor coach. I think as a director of player development he will have more time to be a mentor to the players and be close to them. It could be that's what he likes to do and what he is the best at.
  12. Agree. There's a lot to sort out for these kids. You got coaches, friends, family, media telling them all sorts of things and they get tugged in different directions. I am sure it gets confusing.
  13. They said that about baseball with Buck Beltzer. Got a new coach and new field. Fans came out and supported and wah-la Nebraska Baseball was pretty respectable. They slumped a little but are coming back now. Same thing with basketball. New facilities, new coach, get the fans to come out and wah-la Nebraska basketball will be pretty hot. Next year could be pretty tough given the turnover and the fact that they haven't had a chance to recruit 2012 players and build relationships and as you pointed out the pool is limited. 2013& 2014 could get pretty exciting as they bring players in and refurbish the roster. They are building those relationships now to those high profile players. It only takes 1 or 2 to get it going. So the answer is if this staff can recruit then they will be very respectable. I think it's going to happen.
  14. They are talking you could have a 4 team playoff with the 4 top rated teams or they could go with conference champions only. (top 4 conference champions). Personally I like the conference champions option. It would eliminate some of the lobbying for votes & be a little more objective. What say you?
  15. Thanks. Maybe one guy will do recruiting breakdowns and the other will do opponents. Harriman looks like he is joining the staff. Sounds like a good pickup http://pennstate.scout.com/2/1181242.htm
  16. I didnt want 2 qb's in this class but I change my mind! He looks like the complete package. Not sure who to compare him too? Frost? Corby Jones?
  17. I like his aggressive play. Seems to be a playmaker.
  18. Is Eaton helping Shaw then or are they going to do different things? I like the Smith hire. Should be good synergy there. Hoping Strickland comes in as a GA or Director of development. Having a big staff is more proof positive that they are investing a lot of resources to succeed.
  19. Sounds like some other coaches are in the mix now. I wonder if that means he's going to be a G.A.?
  20. I have my fingers crossed for this guy. I think he will he great.
  21. Hope he gets an offer at camp.
