  1. Sweet thanks for the info. Shades of T.Lue huh? Gotta like Mr Shields as well.
  2. You may be right however would you take that chance?
  3. For basketball scholarship players? Sounds like they are still working things out per the article below. We should start a poll on the number of scholarship players that will be on the roster next year. The tough part is determining who will sign this spring&what transfers he will get during the summer. Will be a great opportunity for newcomers to get tons of playing time. They said there could be more attrition.... I bet Christopher qualifies for the medical. I am guessing that Almeida, Ubel, Gallegos, Talley are going to be here being they are Seniors and Gallegos is a JR who used up his RS. The alternative for them would be to go to a DIV2 school which I don't think they would. Rivers&Hilliard though both have RS years available so if they have difficulty then it could be one of those guys. I am going to guess we have 3 signees this spring. 2 from the fall period, 5 returning players, and 1 transfer picked up during the summer for a total of 11. http://huskerextra.c...aa224ddec7.html
  4. B.C didn't end the walkon program but he did reduce the numbers. Said he didn't know how he would coach that many players. The first year he was here he 'conditioned' the team to weed out the roster.
  5. Ouch. Well they got to regroup and continue to improve and hope to win the b1g tourney.
  6. Was on the CSU board seeing if they were close to picking their HC as I suspect we will be going for Smith, anyway a poster there said Miles had some interest from a JUCO big man back in late March. Speculation was it was one of these 4.... Maybe a group to watch. http://magicvalley.c...19bb2963f4.html Paul Egwuonwu & Gerson Santo intrigue me the most. Maybe Almedia will be a draw for Santo.... http://magicvalley.c...1cc4c002e0.html Cothron has the most talent but has had some troubles.... http://magicvalley.com/sports/csi-basketball-cothron-cool-for-southern-idaho-basketball/article_92750562-70b5-11e1-85c9-0019bb2963f4.html
  7. It's been documented several times that we had some lean years in recruiting for OL and had some injuries. We are getting past that now. I also agree that Beck's style is more conducive to the current OL coaches. I will also say that having 2 coaches is better than 1. I think it will help tremendously to run more practice stations for the OL. Repetition, repetition repetition. I think we will be getting back to reloading because of this philosophy. Personally I think OL is a spot where walkon's can make a mark more than any other position. It's not like a skill position. You can develop power and you can build size to a degree. OL is about hard work, plus good technique. You don't have to be a super athlete to play OL. It helps and it's great if you are but I played basketball against some of the OL years ago (scholarship and walkon's) and they weren't all that athletic. They were good football players though.
  8. +1. I think it's all about expectations and unknowns coming into the spring game. I think this year people's expectations are tempered.
  9. Good balance & stout lower build. I could see why they say either FB or DL. Could even be a MLB. I think he could play FB right away and would make a heck of a DL guy once he gets in a weight program like Nebraska's.
  10. Hurdles translate to football!!! WHAT THE F_CK? I ran hurdles man! None of them were 6-5 320 trying to plant me in the ground! And if you're referencing people laying on the ground and having to "HURDLE" them, all I can say is NO FRIGGIN WAY BRO! The poster may have been thinking about LB's avoiding cut blocks. And there is a correlation between running tires&ropes to work at get your knees&feet up or at least high step. And I think you could argue that any type of jumping or hurdling involves quick burst use of muscles and that football has a lot of that. I think the poster was touching on that. I ran long distant in track and I think that hurt my football speed big time. Every time I started running I would drop into a lope! Habit. So there may not be a direct correlation but I think you could find a few things that would help. Like basketball can help hands, timing and agility and that translates over to football. I think you can find a correlation between all sports even if it's minor... My hope is that Banderas commit's silently. Takes his visits and makes a public commitment during the fall. One scenario that I could see is if we get a couple of other LB guys committing, then he would have to commit or run the risk of getting squeezed out.
  11. Yah, the Northwestern series hurt our at-large resume big-time as we don't have any margin now. Got to put the pedal to the medal here. Switching up our weekend starters shows that they still have work to do with the pitching staff. I am happy with the way the team has played this year and there is an upward trend in general. It's just going to take some time in some cases plus the addition of more talent.
  12. Sweet. 1) It would be awesome to get 2 scholarship Nebraska players that can help right away. Purely awesome. Biggs will be a great start. 2) I love it that Coach Miles has his plan and can tell players exactly how they fit with that plan.
  13. I would take that bet I think. Seriously CSU would sit back and enjoy watching Spencer and McCray playing "I need to get mine" You have a good point there. I agree that Eikmeier could of got 8-10 minutes a game as our zone buster and would of struggled with the physical play if called on to be a major minutes guy. One thing I like about Miles that I believe I heard from his interview is that he is going to make sure his players play to their roles.
  14. Nice! http://yourseason.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/11703801-393/baseball-huntley-junior-bryce-only-commits-to-nebraska.html
  15. Absolutely. IMO He's just meat to Saban. A guy like Saban steps over him as he goes to his office, which is what he reportedly did to some player that collapsed. Later claimed that he was so focused he didn't see him. If that was the case how did he know to step over him? I think he should apply. We could use an experienced SLB for next year.
  16. I believe Qvale is the backup at LT and Arod is the backup at RT. Oops meant to say OWH says Arot at RT. Sheez I am terrible. I think Cotton should play tackle. I think we have good depth at Guard but not as much at tackle. I like the shorter squatty types at guard & center. Also Pelini mentioned that Green ran tough in one of the scrimmages so he is picking up his game in between the tackles.
  17. Agree this is pretty obvious. Also, Miles said he would recruit Nebraska players "If they were good enough" so he qualified it as he should have.
  18. I wish Jorge the best of luck. He was our best returning player. Hope those feet get better
  19. I think Craig Smith will be the last hire as I don't know if CSU would pass us Eustachy. http://www.cbssports...e-about-opening http://www.csurams.c...th_craig00.html Looks like Neal as CSU coach. Should know about Smith by tomorrow I would think http://www.examiner.com/colorado-state-rams-in-fort-collins/source-csu-to-hire-former-unm-assistant-craig-neal-as-men-s-basketball-coach
  20. Duke thanks for the look back uniforms. My choices in order 1) 1971 2) 1929 (with a few modifications.) I like the superman type N on the front. 3) 2001 4) 1940 5) The rest are about the same. I hate Maryland uniforms and Oregon. I think they are horrible.
  21. Wow. Would be a great pickup. I say offer them both ala the Bullock twins
  22. Good player and per the paper today, there's a certain prep WR that is pointing out to Matt what Nebraska has to offer. (Like great WR's!)
  23. Absolutely love it. Reminds me of when I was a kid our coach had us play 8-man football instead of the normal 11-man practice. Wow what a blast. Was a lot of fun, reinforced a good positive attitude. It's a game it should be fun somewhere right? Wow. Best story Dirk ever wrote. Hope it gets picked up by a national paper.
  24. I like the Biggs offer as he is an explosive athlete that can defend. It takes some pressure off of having Parker trying to be the main guy as a freshmen. Plus Corey didn't get much development in with his injuries. This should allow Gallegos to slide over to the 2. It also should help with Akoy&Central players if Biggs enjoys a successful year. Need to get a big guy though....and an outside threat....and another big guy....
