Red November
http://www.sptimes.com/2004/10/09/Sports/E...untryside.shtml Beck completed 13-of-17 for 244 yards but he didn't throw a TD. Quote Link to comment

Huskerebel
I agree with you Benard, Davis was just terrible. I think Dailey comes back next week, but he's not the guy. Can hardly wait to see if Beck pans out. Davis and Goodman will get more time as the losses accumulate, if they do. As long as Dailey wins games, or we are close (within three TDs,) Joe will play. Otherwise the developmental program (fall league in readiness for spring ball and then the Beck arrival) will rule the second half of at least a couple more games. Nothing like live hits and a real defense to develop a QBs mental and physical toughness. Nothing beats taking a hit for his development. DLs and LBs hold back too much because laps are killers at the end of practice when you hit the yellow shirts. Davis looked bad, but not as bad as Dailey did. If we lose two of the next three, he starts at Iowa State. (I wonder if my local Vegas sportsbook will take action on that one.) Huskerebel Quote Link to comment
Huskerebel
BTW I am almost bipolar. Davis was confused with Goodman at the beginning of my last post. Goodman won't see the light of day, but Davis will go somewhere. Beck needs a ball carrier and clipboard guy next year. Stuntz is doing it for Joe right now. Quote Link to comment

Why didn't he play with more poise? I think I just gave you two reasons. If it were up to you, it would be 1994 all the time. Quote Link to comment

Eric the Red
Update on Beck in his latest game. He threw for 201 and ran for 90 http://www.sptimes.com/2004/10/16/Sports/Q...s_Cougars.shtml Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Beck's team, Countryside, lost Friday 18-16 to a 3-4 team using a freshman http://www.sptimes.com/2004/10/30/Sports/L...s_Cougars.shtml Beck finished 16 of 33 passing for 207 yards, but his two interceptions - both were tipped - led to 10 Largo points. He was also the team's top rusher with 32 yards as the Packer defense held Countryside to 91 total. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
I seen this kid play quite a bit and he just loves the game. His release and mechanics stand out. He's got a little Marino in him. If he's rolling out, he gets those hips around directs them at the targets and fires. He's not afraid to run a guy over either. Very exciting and entertaining to watch. Can easily hit a 40 yard strike over the middle between the safties, post pattern for example. Quote Link to comment
Benard
husker's QB's -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom, After meeting with Callahan and seeing NU close up, do you think they are gambling by only taking one QB in Beck this year, especially with Dailey struggling as much as he is. Jordan Adams is recovering from his surgery, Davis got rocked at TT, Ganz and Stuntz haven't done anything. I realize Beck is highly touted, but the new offense is quite complex. Do you think Beck could step in next year. Is Beck going to Lincoln in Jan or next summer. Should they take more than one, or even look juco? TomLemming Member Posts: 44 (10/31/04 8:42 pm) Reply Re: husker's QB's -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think they have made a huge mistake only taking one QB. Right now they are obviously struggling at the QB position and one injury next year and they are right back to where they were. On top of that, I think they would have landed either Perrilloux, Sanchez or even Paulus had they let it play out. The worst part about this is that now Beck is sounding a little shakey on his commitment in the Florida papers. I really think they need to get someone else, but they just won't do it, they made a promise to Beck. As far as will he play as a freshman, they don't have a choice, they need him to step up immediatly next year and he will be called on to do so. Tom Quote Link to comment
DaveH
Interesting take on that. It goes like this. If he turns out, then it is a moot point and people forget about it. If he doesn't, he's up sh#t creek without a paddle. However, is Jordan Adams, chopped liver? Has anyone asked the coaching staff about how he is doing lately? Anyone hear? Anyone have a link to these supposid Florida articles. Sounds like some creative quoting now that Zook is gone and they are reaching out for recruits. Quote Link to comment
