noenwolf
This is what Husker nation wants and we deserve it ! maybe a better bowl record but you can't have everything. I don't think any one will get as long as TO did to win, times have changed. It's simple we want to have a chance to play with the big boys year in and out and run over the cupcake U's. Is Callahan the one who knows, but he shouldn't get a free pass just because we hired him remember he wasn't the first choice he was the only one to say yes. FriscoTXHusker
Yur right. We should have hired the one's that said no. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
Of course he was the only one to say yes. Why would we continue to try to bring in other head coaches if we already had one that committed. Quote Link to comment
noenwolf
I'll make it easier for those of you that don't understand. It's just like kickball he was one of the last people left, he's done well but is it good enough? It really dosn't matter what we think only Stevie P and some wealthy boosters have the power over hiring and firing. Quote Link to comment
Blackshirt316
Just wondering but was it ever confirmed that he wasn't the first choice or that he was way down the list? The only person I recall being mentioned as a candidate that was being looked at before Callahan was Houston Nutt and thats only because he said he was, the University emphatically denied he was a candidate and said he only said he was to get a raise at Arkansas. If he was far down the list, who was it that turned us down before we got him? Quote Link to comment
mbhusker13
that what I love about threads like this. Everyone says so and so was turned down. the favorite being Dave Wandstedt was first choice because he was a Pitt guy, but that backfired on ol' Stevie when he took the pit job leaving Nebraska, one of the most succsessful programs in college football history frantic, and desperate to find a Head Coach. Bill Callahan was the only one stupid enough to take the job. His recruiting classes of date are some of the worst in Nebraska history, lacking talent and speed. With no skill position upgrades in sight, and the secondary looking even more talent depleted then this year. OH YEAH, Quote Link to comment
