Brandon Jackson is Turning Heads at Packers Camp

Many fans, including myself, were severely disappointed with the Green Bay Packers draft. Considering the areas of need, they seemed seem to draft backwards. Rather than grabbing a running back in the first round, they grabbed a defensive tackle. It was a theme that continued throughout the day.

Despite our disappointments, there seems to be a ray of hope. Second-round running back Brandon Jackson (Nebraska) is already turning heads. He saw the bulk of the carries in the Packers first day of minicamp yesterday and the coaches wasted no time in praising him.

"First of all, he's a good running back," Reggie McKenzie said. "He's quick. He's got great vision. He's hard to tackle. He's got all the attributes that we look for in a running back."

The pressure is not lost on the rookie running back. Jackson realizes what is at stake and the chances he has.

"There's an opportunity here to come in and play right away and even an opportunity to start," Jackson said. "There's a big responsibility just because they've put a lot on me."

By all accounts, he fits right in with the Packers and their running game. Despite the presence of Vernand Morency, it looks like this is Jackson's job to lose. Fantasy Football gurus, take notice.

I didn't know if it was good or bad for him to leave early to the NFL, but anyone who has a brain can tell it was by far the smartest thing for him to enter the draft. 2nd round pick to the Packers who are thin at RB and he is going to have a great chance to be their starter next season. It may have looked questionable at first to go pro, but now he is living a dream come true. Good luck to him.
