Eric the Red
Player: Jerrell Powe Hometown: Waynesboro, MS Position: DT Height: 6’3” Weight: 322 40 time: 4.9 Visit Date: 12/10/04 Scholarships offered: Over 20, including: Alabama, Auburn, Memphis, Miami (Fl), Mississippi, Nebraska Favorites: As of Oct. 13, every ones even Rankings/Stars: Rivals: #1/***** Insiders: #3/***** Assessing the talent: According the Rivals he is the second best overall player in the country. He can bench around 380 and squat well over 500 pounds. A truly large human. He has been chosen to participate in the Army All Star game and has recently said he will play. He plans on making his decision then. Lots to like with him. It’s obvious the reasons why all publications have Powe high on their list. Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 0% But at least, unlike the past, he considered Nebraska. He surprised everyone by choosing LSU over Auburn. But as we know his grades are a problem. He has commited to LSU via Army All-Star game Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Auburn has the lead, but again Nebraska has managed to get a recruit to visit out of his region. This dude weighs over 300 pounds and has a vertical of 28 inches. He'll be here in mid November. He is ranked by rivals as the number 2 overall prospect in America Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
He would get a chance to play right away for us. Our D-Line is pretty thin on the inside. Quote Link to comment

Eric the Red
There has been some talk that he may have trouble qualifying academically. Quote Link to comment
joshuavacek
Man we need a guy like this. Nebraska use to have a wealth of talent at the D-end spot but our D-line did nothing this year. I would love to see some new blood in the D-line starting next year. Quote Link to comment
nebr_bob
Does anyone know why he has dropped Auburn from high to medium in interest level? and if he is still coming on an official to nebr? Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Does anyone know why he has dropped Auburn from high to medium in interest level? and if he is still coming on an official to nebr? I didn't even notice that man. Thanks, as for his visit, only one of the services says he is on his way. I'm going to look into this more. The only reason I can think of why he dropped is because he has not committed to them yet. Just a thought Quote Link to comment
Blackshirt
For some reason Auburn hasnt called JP in over a month. He's a bit put-off by this, b/c all the other coaches are still calling every day of the week. Rumors say its related to an "altercation" he had with his HS coach, but Powe says it was nothing. He's visiting A&M this weekend, and slotted for Auburn next - but says if he doesnt hear from them in the meantime he isnt going. Here's his new list, which he says are all "dead even" as a result of the Auburn miff. Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, LSU, Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Auburn. Unfortunately there is no NU to be found...bummer. Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
Anyone have an update, he, according to rivals, has some interest in Nebraska, although Auburn holds the lead again. Quote Link to comment
HANC
Anyone have an update, he, according to rivals, has some interest in Nebraska, although Auburn holds the lead again. "Roz" (Husker Ill.) just report on Sports Nightly that Powe has scheduled a visit to Lincoln. Said his visit was supposed to be this past weekend, but snow storm kept him away. Roz says that Powe will visit sometime this month. Unfortunately, Roz also reported that he thinks Adam Meyers-White will not end up a NU and neither will McKInney Still a chance with Smith and Brooks, but no idea on Boateng Quote Link to comment

TouchdownTommie
The word I hear is that Auburn is giving up on him because he has a 1% chance of making grades. the exact quote I heard was "Powe will be playing on Thursday nights". Quote Link to comment
Benard
I'm 98% sure he will go to Auburn. Quote Link to comment
Pedro Guerrero
Sean Callahan said this dude was pushing 360lbs. Said he looked pretty out of shape. He said one parent that was at the A&M trip with this kid saw him eat 5 plates at breakfast. Quote Link to comment
