REDSTEEL
How come they never have snips of Coz press conference comments on the radio. Does he not speak Tuesdays? It seems to me I heard Pelini speak more in his one year here, then I've heard Coz speak in all of his four years. Quote Link to comment
DaveH
How come they never have snips of Coz press conference comments on the radio. Does he not speak Tuesdays? Yes, he does not speak. I can't say I've every heard any other coach talk on Tuesdays besides the head coach during Callahan's tenure. It's always him and some players. Quote Link to comment
bethelbacker
Might have something to do with the fact that Pelini's D was good, whereas all of Cosgrove's units could be described as turd sandwiches. Quote Link to comment

Well, even when people were semi-happy with the defense he never spoke on Tuesdays... Quote Link to comment

God I think it's hilarious that people think when Pelini was here his D was GREAT! Hell I think the way people talk that NU had the #1 Defense in the nation that year. They seem to forget the 41 Mizzou put on NU and the 38 at home KSU put on NU or the 31 Texas hung on NU. He has done well other places but this quote is talking about the time he was at NU. Give me a break....It has always been the head coach and players and nothing has changed from the press conference. The media talks to some asst. coaches on sundays in the facilities and Coz does talk then. Get over this notion that Callahan is hiding Coz so no one can make him cry bullsh*t. :asshat Quote Link to comment

It still has nothing to do with why Coz does not speak on Tuesdays which is what this thread is about. You should know cuz you started it. It's a difference in the head coached allowing their assts. to speak and not the performance of the team. Quote Link to comment
BigRedfxtoy
If Coz spoke at the press confrences people would wonder what was up with him. I'm not sure there are enough buckets around to catch the ignorance and crap that would flow from his mouth. They need all the buckets for the "coach talk" comming from Callahan. I could care less if he, or Callahan for that matter, get interviewed, because all we get is the same excuses from the weeks before. And yes, while Pelini's D wasn't the best in the country that year, it was among the leaders in takeaways and several other categories. But that's not important, because this thread is about our pointless press conferences. Quote Link to comment
Dan_F_30
Yes it is about our pointless press conferences, then why are you posting this I don't care about the damn press conference, I was just talking about Coz. I could care less if he, or Callahan for that matter, get interviewed, because all we get is the same excuses from the weeks before. The original question was why does coz not speak in the press conference and your opinion about it was proven to be wrong because he has never spoken in 4 years and it's not just something that began this year when the D sucked. In fact, at the end of the season, Nebraska was rated 6th in the nation for overall defense Pts/G: 15.4 Yds/G: 307.4 See for yourself http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/stats/byteam...l&year=2003 Seems alot of people are forgetting about the awful offense we had that year. The games we won were because of the defense. The offense that year was ranked 65th overall http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/stats/byteam...ference=I-A_all If we had a good offense that year, we could have been a national championship contender kbye Quote Link to comment

The defense was rated 11 in total defense and not 6. See for yourself. http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/natlRank.jsp?ye...ef&site=org And I'm not saying they sucked, I'm saying they still gave up 30+ points three times that year. Since I believe the NCAA trumps yahoos stats you'll see that they were not 6th. Either way, like I said, the point was they gave up 30 + points three times. Quote Link to comment
RedDenver
From the NCAA site for Nebraska stats: http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2003/Internet/r...3000000463.HTML NU D Stat: value (NCAA/B12 ranking) Rushing: 119.3 (24/3) Pass: 177.9 (11/4) Pass Efficiency: 88.66 (1/1) Total: 297.2 (11/3) Scoring 14.46 (2/1) TO Margin: +1.77 (1/1) TO Gained: 47 (2/1) Pelini had the #2 scoring D and the #2 turnover D in the nation (arguably the 2 most important defensive stats). I'd say that's pretty darn good. Quote Link to comment

Since I believe the NCAA trumps yahoos stats you'll see that they were not 6th. Either way, like I said, the point was they gave up 30 + points three times. The Yahoo list is before bowl games, and sorted by POINTS PER GAME. THE NCAA list is after bowl game, and sorted by YARDS PER GAME. I would typically use points per game, but can understand the arguement for either. ALSO.... Those were not Bo's recruits. Using the NCCA Statistics....... YEAR.......OFFENSE RANK.......DEFENSE RANK.......RECORD 2002................61st......................55th..................7 - 7 2003................83rd.....................11th.................10 - 3.......Pelini's year.... 2004................69th.....................56th..................5 - 6 Also, in the Mizzou game in 2003 we had 4 fumbles & 1 INT.... The KSU Game we had 2 fumbles & 2 INT's When you have 4 or 5 turnovers, it isn't out of the ordinary to give up 30 points. That is why people have been saying that Pelini was a great coach. With a defense ranked 55th in 2003 we could have had a MUCH worse record than 10 - 3. Quote Link to comment
Dan_F_30
I understand, I just really want to go through a thorough search for a coach instead of crowning Pelini (Insert Dennis Green's crown'em rant here) Quote Link to comment
