NUpolo8
I am probably going to get evicerated for this... If there was a loss that was more telling that this team needs sweeping changes, this was it. Yes the players played with heart, but to me that raises a few questions instead of answering them. If they have pride, where in the world was it the first three weeks in October? Hell, where has it been all year excepting the UNR game? All this game showed me is that the coaches do not have the ability to motivate this team week in and week out. Granted, a many people say that the players need to motivate themselves, which I agree with, but when you do not hit in pads when you are a 21 year old young adult, it is simply too hard for these guys. Once again...THESE AREN'T PROS! Of course once again, Callahan tried to throw a fire blanket on a game where he had a lead wayyyy to early, and the other team came back and won. 200 yards rushing in one quarter is too embarassing for words. And now for the eviceration... For all the fans who are calling out other fans for being sh**ty fans. Stop. Now. I have no doubt that every fan supports this team, wears its gear, and desperately wanted to beat UT for the first time in 8 years. But you as a fan are allowed to boo, heckle (cleanly), and speak up when something is clearly wrong. I for one think the "best fans in college football" is a reach. Here is a more accurate description. "The smartest fans in college football" We know when something is broken. We know when changes to be made. And we know we have a right to be pissed when we know that these players and coaches are given EVERY creature comfort in the way of nutrition, conditioning, and support and they don't even have the goddamn courtesy to show up and play every week. Instead, we are told to feel good that they decided to put forth 110% one week in October when the season is totally over. I'm sick of it. This wasn't the Nebraska I was a part of. Make the change. Good post. Especially the part about SMARTEST fans in college football. The class that we have shown to opponents was due in major part to knowing a formidable opponent or a good game when we saw one. But when guys aren't playing with heart or coaches are too stubborn to make changes the fans will let them know about it. Again good post. Quote Link to comment
LAHusker
I agree, I'm tired of almost beating Texas. Tired of moral victories and the aw shucks attitude. 4 years and this team is the laughing stock of college football. Callahan has no clue when it comes to college football. Today would have been easier to swallow if we had lost big. The performance today is just toying with everyone's emotions. Quote Link to comment

nepolo7
Agree, this staff and this product don't reflect the traditions of Nebraska Football. I played golf today instead of watching the game. and I hate golf Quote Link to comment

TLS2
I read recently that back in the day no one had to say anything about Nebraska being the 'best fans' in college sports...they just were. That's the kind of fan base I want to see again. One that is great just because they are....not because they have to prove they are. TLS2 Quote Link to comment

Bravo I say bravo. Good post, but I have to disagree about the fan behavior. Real fans don't call out the players and yell expletives and things like "You Suck!!!" These guys are not getting paid. This is clearly a coaching problem so why pile on the players? Stuff being said like that is not "booing, heckling, or speak(ing) up when something is clearly wrong." The players need support. Young people need emotional lifting. One of the biggest complaints I have heard this year is how this team plays with no emotion. Fans who demoralize them suck the emotion right out of them! If my son makes a game losing error in a little league championship game I put my arm around him and support him. I tell him to go out there and make a play next time. These kids don't want to lose! They want to succeed. They want to hear us call their names and cheer them on. It kills them to go through this worse than it kills us, because they feel the brunt of the pressure. They feel like they are letting down themselves, their families, the school, and the state! Booing is fine. Heckle the coaches. Direct your anger at the players who deserve it (McKeon). But goodness, don't be Yankee fans.... this is Nebraska, not New York. Quote Link to comment
